Our Subscription Box Favorites for February!
We’re starting a new monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite items from the past month:
The Cost: $65.99
Why I love it: This bourbon is incredible. It smells rich, sweet, and a little like caramelized sugar and the taste is smooth and flavorful— think vanilla, toffee, and baking spices. I tend to drink bourbon primarily in cocktails, but this is good enough to sip on its own.
Anna Rodriguez’s Favorite:
The Item: Black Cold Shoulder Handkerchief-Hem Top by American Rag
The Cost: $65
Why I love it: I have been super reluctant to jump on the cold shoulder bandwagon, but the cut of this top is actually really flattering! I love the color scheme and small print, too!
The Item: Amica Pallina Cheese & Pepper Balls
The Cost: ?
From: Universal Yums
Why I love them: We don’t regularly have snack food in the house so this whole box from Universal Yums was a rare treat – but these cheese puffs stood out! They were salty and savory and just all around satisfying; the pepper and cheese combo was so good. (If anyone knows of a similar snack I can buy stateside, let me know since these were not available online!)
The Item: Moonstruck Chocolate Co. Hot Lips Truffles
The Cost: MSRP $11
Why I Love It: These are super cute, but unlike some novelty foods, they actually taste pretty good, too. There is a hint of spice to them that goes really well with the chocolate. This particular item is no longer for sale (was seasonal) but be sure to check out all the other cool stuff on the manufacturer’s website.
The Item: Karina High Support Sports Bra
The Cost: VIP Price: $29.95 (Retail Price: $49.95)
Why I love it: This bra is my favorite item this month because Fabletics just released their Bra Shop (and their Plus Size shop!) which I am really excited about because I know being able to search for bras by the amount of support is a feature I’ve been wanting for a little while now. This bra is a high-impact style and I’m really happy with it. The coverage is perfect for me and it’s definitely supportive, and not hard at all to take on and off. I love the wide band as well, which is really comfortable too.
The Cost: $15.00
Why I love it: I love Spongelle sponges, so I was really excited to see this one in my box! This particular sponge has a rose scent, which is totally fitting and it will work for 14+ uses. I always find that my sponges last longer than they’re anticipated to – I don’t let it sit under running water and I hang it to dry. This sponge is also infused with olive oil to be super moisturizing. Plus, this is just the perfect item for a February box!
Nancy S’ Favorite:
The Cost: $12
Why I love it: Fragrances can be such a hit or miss in subscription boxes. That’s why I was so surprised by how much I loved Royal Apricot from Demeter Fragrance. I’m not new to the brand but this is my favorite scent from them. This perfume oil is a bright, juicy apricot scent that’s not too cloying nor too overwhelming. In fact, it is the perfect balance of sweet and fruity for me. It’s good enough to eat, really. Since it is a limited edition scent, I’m tempted to buy the eau de toilette too before it disappears for good.
The Item: Big Thunder III
The Cost: Value $1.99
Why I love it: What happened in Big Thunder 1 and 2? We may never know, but luckily it led to this delicious chocolate treat. BT3 is a chocolate cookie dipped in more chocolate. Does it get better? The cookie is essentially the same consistency as an Oreo, but it’s a big bar that’s also been dipped. In. Chocolate. It was great! Definitely my favorite item this month.
Anna Reilly’s Favorite:
The Item: Animals and Reactions Stickers
The Cost: $1.00?
From: Pipsticks Pro Club Petite (LIMITED TIME DEAL: Use coupon code INSTAXPRO25 to save 25% off your first month of the Pipsticks Classic subscription. Or, use coupon code INSTAXKIDS25 to save 25% off your first month of PipSticks Kid’s Club Subscription! Coupon: Use code OMG10 to save 10% off!)
Why I love it: Nothing brightens up a gray February day like a pack of stickers, especially when it includes a sheet of silly animal faces like these! I love the cool, watercolor-esque design and uncommon species (hello there, lemur) featured in this quirky set.
The Item: Thank You and Good Night by Patrick McDonnell
The Cost: $13.19 on Amazon (retail price $15.99)
Why I Love It: There is nothing I love more than reading to my two children. When my kids love a book so much that they want to hear it again just as soon as we’ve turned to the back page I know it’s a sure winner. This darling book by Patrick McDonnell charmed all of us with the sweet story of friends having a slumber party and the delightful illustrations.
The Item: Potlicker Kitchen Raspberry Smoked Maple Jam, 8 oz.
The Cost: $8
Why I love it: This is the best jam I’ve ever tried! The raspberries taste fresh, are sweetened with maple syrup, and there’s also a hint of smokiness. It is a winning combination in my book! And I like that PB & Jealous showcases small businesses, that I wouldn’t otherwise find on my own.
The Item: Quinn Snacks Popcorn with Organic Coconut Oil (0.6 oz)
The Cost: $3.00
Why I love it: This month was super hard for me! There were 3 items from Wellness Tribe that I absolutely loved but my inner popcorn fiend won out. This popcorn is comparable to homemade which is saying a lot since I use organic coconut oil and popcorn from a local farm when I make it at home. It’s not cheap but I’d buy it anyway. This bag was delicious!
The Item: Pur’ Lips Lipstick-Red, Red Wine
The Cost: $12.95
From: Satva Box
Why I love It: It’s moisturizing, long-lasting and the color is flattering. The shade reminds me of wine, hence the color, “Red, Red Wine”. I applied layers of the color to get a richer shade, which I liked. It’s has 100% naturally derived ingredients and moisturizing ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, and Shea butter.
The Item: Girls’ Generation Stem Cell Sheet Mask
The Cost: $3.25
Why I love it: Most of the masks I try have a very mild scent or no scent at all. It’s fun to mix it up every once in a while and this blueberry scented mask does just that. The scent was really yummy without being too sweet. I also really loved the way this was packaged, with the mask on a stiff piece of paper. This made it was easier to apply. The collagen, blueberry, and snail extract left my skin feeling invigorated and smooth!
The Item: Bullseye/Daredevil POP 2-Pack
The Cost: Value $30+?
From: Marvel Collector Corps
Why I love it: This is the first POP appearance for bullseye + there aren’t a lot of non-tv show Daredevil POPs + it’s a battle scene 2-pack – it was my easy favorite! Check out my other geek box favorites in this month’s Geek Box Showdown!
The Item: Sisley Phyto-Teint Eclat #2
The Cost: $122
From: Sisley December Box (This box shipped really late, so that’s why I’m including it in the February round up!)
Why I love it: I really didn’t want to fall in love with a $122-an-ounce foundation, but this is the nicest foundation formula I’ve ever tried! It gives full coverage without looking or feeling like you’re wearing makeup – it is magic! I ended up using my $50 Neiman Marcus Gift Card from the Neiman Marcus POPSUGAR box to justify this makeup splurge!
