Parks Project Beanie – Value $26

Starting off this month, we have the hero item of the box, this awesome knit beanie featuring the logo and mantra of the Parks Project. This hat is super soft and very warm. I have a bigger head so it fit more like a watch cap in my opinion, but I will definitely be wearing this on chilly days. It’s stylish to boot, so I won’t be saving this just for camping trips!

mizu Collapsible Shot Glass – Value $10.95

When I was just a young lad, the plastic version of this cup was all the rage for scouting trips. Now, it’s being marketed to grown-ups as a shot glass. This collapsible cup holds about 2 oz. of whatever liquid you decide to haul out into the wilderness, and (after a quick rinse) it collapses to the size of an Oreo and can be tossed into your pack. It's definitely a handy item to have around, I can always appreciate a reusable item over one-time use disposable stuff.

Ritual Caffeinated Energy Snack (3-pack) – Value $4.50

These snacks were new to me, and I can definitely attest to the fact that they carry a good amount of caffeine! They are each equivalent to a cup of coffee and have a great peanut butter and chocolate taste. The texture is almost gooey, very similar to a Clif bar. These would be great for a pick-me-up during a long hike, or a coffee replacement in the morning if you didn’t want to go to the hassle of brewing a cup on the trail.

Nite-Ize S-Biner #3 – Value $2.89

I have about a half dozen of these carabiners from Nite Ize and despite it being the lowest value item in the box, it’s bound to be the one I get the most use out of. These hooks are great for a million things, from attaching water bottles to the exterior of your pack to dangling food from a tree to protect from sneaky rodents. The double-gated design is an improvement over the standard carabiner, and since it’s stainless steel these will hold up for a long time.

Verdict: This was my first month reviewing Nomadik and I think they did a really nice job of curating some very useful items that people who love the outdoors can definitely use, but might not already have! The value of everything this month adds up to $44.34 which exceeds their promised value of $40. I think that’s great for this $30 box.
