KaffeBox is a coffee subscription that sends the best specialty coffee from Scandinavia’s top micro-roasteries.

Each month, a different type of coffee is sent from a different roaster, allowing subscribers to sample a wide variety of beans from top roasters in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

Coffee is never more than a day or two post-roast when it’s sent, and shipments to the U.S. take approximately 4-8 days to arrive.

April Coffee San Alberto Colombia Filter Coffee (250 g.)- €10.27 (approximately $10.83 USD)

This month, I received two coffees from Copenhagen’s April Coffee. The first is from Buenavista, Quindio, Colombia. Please note that this particular coffee isn’t currently available on the April site, so I’ve linked to a similar coffee.

When I opened up the bag to photograph the beans, the aroma hit me hard and fast. These beans smell incredible!

KaffeBox recommends looking for flavors of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and pear in this coffee, and I think that’s pretty spot on! I can definitely taste the brown sugar and chocolate.

April Coffee Matyazo Rwanda Filter Coffee (250 g.)- €12.64 (approximately $13.32 USD)

This month’s second coffee is from Rwanda’s Ngororero District.

The beans are beautifully roasted (and lightly roasted, which is always my preference).

The tasting notes for this coffee include elderflower, mandarin, and white tea, and the taste is mildly citrusy and a little floral. I sometimes drink my coffee black and sometimes with a splash of milk, and I think this coffee definitely benefits from being left black. (I added a bit of milk to one cup, and I found it overwhelmed the delicate flavors.)

Verdict: I love coffee and I enjoy discovering new roasters, so I always have a lot of fun with KaffeBox. I think KaffeBox offers a unique opportunity to sample high-quality beans from Scandinavia, and I love that every shipment inspires me to learn a little bit more about Scandinavian culture and geography. I’m also regularly impressed by the design and packaging of the coffee I receive. (It’s true that Scandinavian design is impeccable!) Most importantly, the coffee is reliably delicious. This month, I really enjoyed both of the coffees I received, and I like that they’re quite different. In terms of value, I received 500 g. of Norwegian coffee for $29, which I’m happy with!
