The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Vegan Cuts Beauty, $22.95 a month, box.

Each Vegan Cuts Beauty Box comes with an information card detailing the items for that month.

ColorpHlex Home Care Nv Leave-in Treatment (1 fl oz) – Value $5.50

I am familiar with this product from another box (it’s been awhile and I don’t remember which one).  I like to use a bit of leave-in on wet hair to help detangle (this one is good for that). I do color my hair but think I would need to try a full-size bottle to really see the color preservation effects.

Crazy Rumors Chocolate Strawberry Lip Balm (0.15 oz) – Value $3.49

We received a different flavor in a previous box. I think this one is more to my taste. Also, for what it’s worth, this is one of the best vegan lip balms I’ve tried. It doesn’t get all gritty like the ones that are full of cocoa butter and coconut oil (this has neither of those).

vegan-cuts-beauty-february-2017-toner

Herbal Transdermal Deep Pore Mineral Toner (2 fl oz) – Value $3.75

I love getting toner in subscription boxes. This is a little different – it has a ton of trace elements (90 of them!) and also tea tree oil and vitamin C, both of which do wonderful things for my skin. This is alcohol-free and it has been quite gentle on my skin, which is nice for winter. I am skeptical of some of the scientific claims on their website, but the toner is a good toner in that it gets traces of leftover makeup off my skin and helps me feel a little tightness/tingling (some of the tingling may be from wintergreen oil, though).

Oral Essentials Toothpaste (0.8 oz) – Value $3

I’ve received this toothpaste in a subscription box before but it’s been a long time. I like that it doesn’t contain SLS (which can give some people, including me, canker sores). However, it also does not contain fluoride, which is a must for me. I have been using this to clean my mouth guard (I grind my teeth, or I used to).

The Ariel Co. “Cupid” Lip Scrub – Value $9

This smells/tastes really good. Apparently, the flavor is “cotton candy bubble gum.” It is also an effective scrub, which I need since I had a cold last week and did a lot of mouth breathing, which in turn dried out my lips. (This is nice to use in combination with the lip balm from up above, too.)

Emani Eye Trio – Value $20

We received this in a past Vegan Cuts Beauty Box, but I got a different color this time. According to this spoiler post, different colors were possible. Anyway, I am happy with the combination I received. These are the sorts of colors I use frequently anyway, and it turns out the dark gray doesn’t look so dark when applied as a shadow. The pigment is buildable, as well.

Here are swatches of the eye colors. I am pleased that the darkest color softens out to a gray, which is much more wearable for me as eyeshadow since I don’t typically use shadow as liner.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $44.74 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That’s not the highest value I’ve ever seen for this box, but it is comfortably above the cost of the subscription and I am happy with almost all of the items. I don’t mind receiving items I’ve received before as long as they are different colors and/or flavors, which was the case for the lip balm and eye trio. I feel that this was a pretty solid month for the Vegan Cuts Beauty Box.

What do you think of the February 2017 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box?

I had subbed to this, but had to cancel due to product overload. Nice boxes and great customer service, though, so I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into green products.

I’m so pleased to say that Vegan Cuts offered to send me a replacement February box after the one I received came completely beat up with only the toner inside.

Their CS is pretty good. Once a drink container came open and doused the contents of my snack box completely, ruining everything, and they replaced it. (Items were somewhat different but the value was still there.)

Amy

Liz, do you like this one better than Petit Vour? Do you know if Vegan Cuts ever has any sales/discounts on their subs?

Amy,

I have done Petit Vour and prefer Goodbeing. It is more natural than Vegan Cuts. Great value, more customization and you can pick two items a month for $21 a month. They will sometimes have a free item with signup. My favorite box of all time!

Goodbeing is amazing! Well worth the price.

I get both, and I planned to let this one lapse when my six-month sub expires. Petit Vour has a (limited) beauty profile, but that at least allows for better color matching. It seems that every makeup product I get from Vegan Cuts is just not suitable for my skin tone. I also prefer Petit Vour’s point system that gives discounts for repurchases.

I think they usually do a black Friday deal on the beauty & snack box. I think I paid around $189 for 12mos with the 2016 offer and the first box also had a bonus item.

Thanks, Jane!

Ragan, sorry, I meant Ragan. I didn’t check the review name. I apologize!

I haven’t gotten Petit Vour for several years so I really couldn’t compare. Vegan Cuts rarely has discounts that I have seen. Each month’s information card does have a $10 off code for their shop but that is not quite the same.

Also, for the record, the cut on my arm is from Angus (my kitten) scratching me. He is a little wild right now.
