MunchPak-February-2017-0004

This box came with a card signed by the person who packed my MunchPak (Thanks, Roxanne!) and info about how to win a FamilyPak (20+ items!)

MunchPak-February-2017-0005

There is no other info included in the box, so I hunted down each item on MunchPak’s store and will be using those as the values in this review.

Rap Snacks - Fetty Wap Honey Jalapeño - Value $2.00

Rap Snacks. Now that is a name I’ve not heard in a long, long time. But Fetty Wap, Billboard’s Top New Artist award winner? Him I’ve heard of. And these chips are amazing! Just enough honey flavor to combat the spice of the jalapeño. I really liked these, I just wish there were more in there. The only issue for me was they were really greasy, so much so that they left grease behind on the plate!

Milka Bubbly Milk Chocolate - Value $4.00

If you’ve followed my reviews you probably already know that I love chocolate. So of course, I was stoked to see this full-sized Swiss chocolate bar in here! This bar is stamped/formed into a fun randomized bubble pattern, and the interior is aerated chocolate. It looks like a wafer but it’s just chocolate with lots of air bubbles trapped inside! It’s delicious, very similar to a Nestlé chocolate bar in flavor, and I’m guessing it’s the air bubbles that make the chocolate feel very silky smooth.

Rowntree Randoms - Value $3.00

This package of gummy treats was very interesting. I’m not sure if these are “random” in the sense that they are a mix of candies available elsewhere, or if they just have random shapes. They remind me of some random Wonka candies out there. The ones that are shaped like Big Ben were an odd consistency, almost chalky but still gummy. Some of the other ones had a soft jelly inside which was kind of a surprise. Most of the flavors were very strong, but not your standard grape/cherry/orange/lemon etc. I’m not sure how I feel about these. I don’t hate them, but I probably wouldn’t seek them out in the future.

Kabaya Sakupanda Mini Pack - Value $2.00

Super cute pandas making faces, chocolate, and cookies? Check, check, and check. That about wraps it up for this one. These were tasty, the white chocolate had a bit of a “milky” flavor which was a surprise, but overall these are a great little treat. The pandas all had their own personality.

Fini Roller Blue Raspberry - Value $2.00

This roll of sour tape candy was awesome! I loved snacks like this as a kid and whenever they come in a box these days I usually tear into them first. It was pretty standard as far as the blue-raspberry flavor goes, and it wasn’t crazy sour like a Warhead, but still pretty sour. Exactly what I expected and I was definitely happy with it!

Bourbon Petit Baked Potato Chips - Value $3.00

This little tray of chips was pretty interesting. I didn't know what to expect until I opened them, and I was hit with the familiar scent of a Pringles can. These are basically miniature Pringles, from the texture and flavor right down to the shape. They came on a tray and not in a tube, and they’re about ⅓ the size of a Pringle, but otherwise they’re exactly the same. Definitely good for someone who loves that flavor but maybe doesn’t want to have a whole can around!

Coris Chocolate Covered Banana DIY Candy - Value $4.00

This kit was fun and made for some cute little treats. Inside the package, you’ll find a tray with a few soft banana candies, a packet of chocolate sauce, and one of sprinkles. You’ll empty the packets into the trays, put a banana on the provided toothpick, dip into the chocolate and sprinkles, and have yourself a mini “frozen” banana treat! It’s pretty tiny, definitely a one-bite treat, and there are enough in there to share with friends. The banana candies remind me of banana Laffy Taffy.

Kazouza Sparkling Drink - Apple Flavor - Value $5.00

I’ve never gotten a drink in a subscription box before, and I was expecting it to have been jostled so much that it was flat. Luckily for me, it was still 100% sparkling! The apple flavor in this is pretty different. It’s not the super fake apple flavor like you’d get in a Jolly Rancher, but it’s not exactly apple juice, though it looks like it. It falls somewhere in between. It’s not awful, but I didn’t finish it and probably wouldn’t seek it out in the future.

Meiji Choco Baby - Value $3.00

I was really curious about these little chocolates. Would they be hard like a Tic-Tac? Are they just sprinkles? How aren’t they all melted together? Well, they weren’t anything like a Tic-Tac, they are in fact just tiny chocolates. They have a shiny coat that I’m guessing keeps them from melting together, but it’s not a hard shell by any means. They come out a few at a time so you can definitely nurse the package, but it would be pretty hard to not polish these off in just a few sittings!

Hello Kitty Green Tea Wafer Cookies - Value $3.00

There are so many green tea flavored treats out there these days, and while I really enjoy some of them (gimme those green tea Kit-Kats all day) this was basically like eating tea flavored wafers. And when I say tea, I mean it was like eating raw tea leaves. I wasn’t really into these, but I could see them being good maybe with ice cream or something that would cut the flavor a bit.

Lotte Double Dip Pepero - Value $4.00

I was really interested in these Pocky-esque treats until I opened up the package to discover they were all broken and melted together. I suppose one casualty out of 10+ snacks isn’t a huge issue, but it was kind of a bummer. I was able to pull one apart and it was good, but not really my style. The biscuit stick is dipped into a milky cream and then dipped again into chocolate. I wasn’t really into the milky flavor on the inside, and it mixed with everything else.

Verdict: This was a really solid box from MunchPak, and based on the ones we’ve received in the past I’d say it’s right in line with their usual offerings. Based on their site, the box is also a $35 value, which is almost double the cost, which in my mind cancels out the few duds I received. All in all, I think MunchPak is a terrific value and another great chance to try out random snacks that I would normally never have the chance to try!

Wow. I used to have this box and it was never this great. I hope they send the same box to subscribers as the reviewer. I would love this box and re-sub if I get something like this mix. Pretty awesome!

I haven’t seen MunchPak reviewed for awhile, so I am glad to see it back! We actually subscribe every summer. I have a world map and get some stickers, then we pick out a different treat every few days. My kiddos find it on the map, then we look up a few things about the country of the treat we are eating. It’s super fun and my kids really look forward to it!!

Yeah we haven’t gotten one for a while! That sounds like a great family activity. I really like how the site catalog lets you know where the items come from
