Love-with-Food-February-2017-Suckers

Yummy Earth Organic Suckers - Value $1.25?

I received 5 Yummy Earth Organic Suckers. The flavors are blueberry tooberry, strawberry smash, googly grape, pomegranate pucker, and watermelon wet-face. These suckers are a nice, manageable size. They are approximately the size of a quarter and pretty flat. I find that smaller suckers are easier to eat, so these are great for that. I tried the blueberry flavor and really enjoyed it.

Love-with-Food-February-2017-Hemp-Sprd

Hemp Hearts Manitoba Harvest - Value $0.75

These hemp hearts are raw shelled hemp seeds to be sprinkled on salad, cereal, or yogurt. These are packed with omegas, vitamins, digestible proteins, minerals, and fiber. The flavor is very nondescript and would work well in any of the suggested serving methods, or even thrown into a smoothie or muffin.

Kitchen Crafted Sprd Marinara Mia Spread - Value $0.36

This spread is basically a mayonnaise with tomato flavoring. I can see how this would be a great dip for french fries or spread on a sandwich. I asked my husband to sample this and he thought the flavor was really great.

Love-with-Food-February-2017-Pork-Chickpea-Nutthin

Pork Clouds, Rosemary & Sea Salt - Value $1.50

I have received these pork clouds in several sub boxes, and my husband always enjoys them. I am obviously not a fan, as a vegetarian, but if you're a meat eater, you'll likely enjoy this snack.

Blue Diamond Mini Nut-Thins, Cheddar Cheese - Value $0.47

Unfortunately, I was not a fan of these. There was a really odd aftertaste and I just didn't enjoy the flavor.

Watusee Foods Chickpeatoes, Tomato Basil - Value $0.80

These snacks were also a miss for me. I didn't enjoy the flavors at all. The texture was as you would expect - nice and crunchy - but the flavor just didn't come through well.

Love-with-Food-February-2017-Brownie-Belgium-Lemon

Sheila G's Brownie Brittle, Salted Caramel - Value $0.94

Brownie Brittle is always great - and adding salted caramel to it is even better. I really love the crunch and the flavor that is always present in Brownie Brittle.

Laughing Giraffe Organics Lemon Snakaroon - Value $0.79

I've tried these before and I had the same verdict then as I did this round of tasting: the flavor is very good, but the texture could use some improvement. They're a bit mealy and dry - I think if they were to either make these chewy or crunchy I would enjoy them more.

Belgian Boys Mini Cookie Stash - Value $1.20

Speculoos cookies are always great in my opinion. These were not a disappointment - they had the nice cinnamon and caramel flavor that is the hallmark of this flavor. These were nice because they were small, bite-sized bits of goodness.

Verdict: My Love with Food box was a bit of a disappointment this month, just because of the number of items that I either didn't like or that I was more ambivalent toward. Despite that, they always do a great job of curating the mix of sweet and salty, which is something that I look for in a snack box. The value this month was around $8.00. This is on the lower side of what I usually see with Love with Food - but the value is generally always below the $9.99 month-to-month charge for the box.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I opened my box before seeing this, and I burst out laughing seeing pork rinds on the top. They are one of the least healthy foods I can think of; like if you want to make a joke about how horridly someone eats, pork rinds is a good thing to mention. I’m an omnivore and eat pretty darn unhealthily overall. Then chickpeas, hemp seeds, a lumpy coconut thing, and crackers made from almonds? Totally shaking my head, still chuckling, but probably between my husband and I we’ll try everything. The brownie brittle is already gone ; )

I’m really happy to see FIVE lollipops, because when there’s something tiny, they usually only include two. Two small truffles, two hard coffee candies, two little pieces of dark chocolate, two Chewie Fruities , which are similar to Starburst but even better. I bought a couple POUNDS of them from Amazon after trying them in LWF, so I guess two was enough. Two always seemed so cheap. Same with Julep, two tiny candies rather than three. Back when I was subscribing, anyway.

I agree, this was a disappointing box. Was not happy to see the pork rinds. The mayonnaise thing was an odd selection, and the cookies were meh.

Okay, I see I am in the minority here but I loved this box. The hemp seeds taste very much like sunflower seeds which I like. The speculoos cookies were so good. The lollipops had intense flavors, nothing boring there. The chickpea snacks were odd. I ate two and threw them away. The lemon macaroon was so moist and tasty with a nice strong lemon flavor. I was really surprised how good it was and wished I had more of those in my box. The almond crackers were odd but I liked them when I used them to dip chicken salad. I have liked pork clouds in the past but when I saw that the flavor was cinnamon I was surprised but it was ceylon cinnamon which is my favorite type of cinnamon so I decided to give them a try. Wow, who would have thought that cinnamon + pork rinds = delicious.
I’ve had the box for only two days and the only thing left is the mayo which I don’t think I’ll try.

I was also disappointed in this box. The only redeeming quality for me was the fact that we got all five flavors of lollypop. They’re really tasty, and you can review each item for 50 points, which is good for 50 cents worth of credit in their shop. So you can get $2.50 in credit even if you only try those.

I don’t normally eat junk food (or many meat products), but I tried the pork clouds anyway, and I REALLY don’t recommend them. I got the cinnamon and sugar flavor, and they were really bland and “off” tasting even though I love the flavor of cinnamon and sugar things like elephant ears. They weren’t decadent at all. I did have to laugh at the suggestion on the package to eat them with coffee for breakfast though! I guess technically they aren’t that far from bacon but I just can’t imagine them as a breakfast food!

I agree with you about the lollipops. I started feeling a lot better about this box today when when I went to rate, & realized that we get to rate each one individually. I REALLY like getting the extra $2 back in points.

I am really glad I’m not the only person disappointed by this month’s box. Only 4 items were good for me. The lollypops were my favorite thing in the box. Yummm…Brownie Brittle! The lemon Snackaroo was tasty, but I love coconut. I like mayo, so I will give that a try next time I eat a sandwich. The box is only $10, so not a huge loss.

I eat Nut Thins once in a while and I agree they have a funky flavor, especially the cheese flavor. The Speculoos cookies were just okay.

I don’t eat “Pork Clouds.” I make my own chicharron. Maybe that’s why I don’t like pork clouds. I won’t try the hemp seeds because I have many allergies to grasses and weeds, just not chancing it with hemp. The Chickpeatos tasted stale – maybe that’s just how they taste.

This was my least favorite box from them, ever. A ton of dry, crunchy stuff in flavors I dislike.

I did really like that we were sent all 5 flavors of candy, though. In the past, I’ve always just received 1 or 2 pieces of the same flavor.

I really didn’t like this box. Hopefully, the nest box is better.

This was my first ever box from them and I had mixed feelings about it. There was many things I won’t even try (pork clouds, hemp seeds, mayo). I haven’t tried the almond crackers yet but don’t have high hopes for them. The only thing I really loved was the lollipops–surprisingly! I am not really a candy person but these were great and I won’t feel bad giving them to my kids either. I will probably order more of those but that’s about it. The mustache cookies were tasty but I don’t eat those type of things very often. I enjoyed getting the opportunity to try a bunch of different things, but first box and I already am tossing like a third of it? I’m not hugely disappointed as I realize they aren’t catering to me specifically but not sure if my tastes and this sub will end up lining up.

I subscribed to Love With Food for awhile a few years ago. This is my first month back. I’m pretty disappointed. I’m a vegetarian, and I definitely wasn’t thrilled to find the pork clouds on the top of my box. Just out of curiosity – why not try the hemp seeds?

I agree this box was such a disappointment.
