Ipsy-February-2017-0001

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag. I think it’s one of the best value beauty subscriptions and a great way to build out your makeup collection on the cheap!

Ipsy-February-2017-0002

This is one of my top recommendations if you are looking for a beauty box – the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out my list of the Top Beauty Boxes for 2016 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Ipsy-February-2017-0019

Each month, ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their 5 items. This bag is made with a denim fabric, with a neon border and lining accent!

Ipsy-February-2017-0018

(I was hoping for something more pink/hearts for February, but this bag is still pretty cute._

Now, onto the items!

Ipsy-February-2017-0009

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer in Medium – 1.5 ml Value $4.50

Ipsy-February-2017-0010

IT Cosmetics is my favorite concealer of all time, and this is their new Illumination version of the concealer.

Ipsy-February-2017-0011

If you have dark circles like I do, this is the BEST concealer I’ve found for full coverage. It goes on a little tacky to the touch, but it’s still easy to blend out, and it stays put. I recommend setting it with a powder, and then you are good to go!

I can’t tell a big difference in illumination between this concealer and their regular concealer, but that’s fine by me – both are fab!

Ipsy-February-2017-0004

Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer – .02 oz Value $2.20

Elizabeth Mott gets points for the name of this bronzer, but they lose some points for the sample size! This bronzer sample is about the size of an eyeshadow pan and it just feels so small for an ipsy bag.

Ipsy-February-2017-0005

Sample size issues aside, the formula itself is great. The finish is matte (my go-to for bronzer), the pigment is excellent, and the powder glides on so smoothly, too.

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Ipsy-February-2017-0006

IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly – FULL SIZE! Value $12

Ipsy-February-2017-0007

I was about to comment that this sample is slightly better in size than the bronzer, then I looked up the size of the full-size version and realized this is actually full size! (Full size for this highlighter is 1.8 g.)

Again, I’ll stop complaining about size and move onto the actual product! This highlighter gives such a gorgeous peachy shimmer that catches the light beautifully. The formula is highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and you can easily blend it out, too.

Here it is swatched below the bronzer and above the concealer:

Ipsy-February-2017-0022

Ipsy-February-2017-0016

Luxie 514 Rose Gold Blush Brush – Value $18

Ipsy-February-2017-0017

I have a lot of Luxie brushes thanks to my multiple Ipsy subscriptions, but I’m always happy to get more. They are beautiful and the bristles are super soft.

Ipsy-February-2017-0014

MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk – 1 oz Value $6.40

(Good to know for swaps – this tube has an inner foil seal.)

This hand cream is free of parabens and sulfates! The scent is described as a blend of “Extracts of Wild Rose, Hibiscus and Licorice.” It’s a decadent scent, and I like it way more than I was expecting to! Plus the formula is moisturizing without leaving my hands greasy.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $43. That’s great for a $10 subscription box. (And that’s not counting the value of the makeup bag!) The value is on the low side for Ipsy bags (some of my past bags have had values of $60+), and I wish some of the products were larger sizes, but even with those concerns, it’s still a great bag for me.

What do you think of the February Ipsy Glam Bag? What items did you get in your bag? Was anyone else surprised by that bronzer sample size?

  1. I really loved my 1st bag, Feb. 2017, but the intense use of Facebook and other social media to earn points was a turn off. I do not use such social media outlets. I cancelled Maybe sometime in the future I’ll try it again. I’ll have to think about it.

  2. The ipsy bag itself was ok this month, but what I received was great!

Marsk eyeshadow in “you’re toast” $22.50
    FULL SIZE
Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “I give good tweet” $15
    FULL SIZE
    Luxie blush brush #514. $18
    FULL SIZE
    Luna Highlighter in “calypso” $23
    FULL SIZE
    Veneffect anti-aging lip treatment $25
( about 1/3 of full size and full size is $85)

So my bag ended up being over $100 worth of products!?!?! Crazy right 😮

  3. I was pretty happy with my bag!! The only thing I didn’t like was the bag itself, I wish it would’ve been valentines themed or at least pink or red.
    I got:
NYX Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry
    Iby Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly
Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Daily Facial Scrub
Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer
Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514

  4. I received my first bag this month and honestly, I’m disappointed. I got almost everything that was mentioned in this post, and the highlighter is so crap. It’s very pink (almost like a blush) and looks horrible on the skin with chunks of glitter. I like the concealer and I had 2 face masks that were pretty nice. The bag is ugly and tacky as hell, and I got a cheap fan brush as well. I’m going to give it two more chances and if not, I’m canceling. I’m Canadian so the conversion rate jacks this up to about $24/mo, and I don’t think this is worth it at the moment.

  5. Received mine today and it totalled $77.88 USD (I’m Canadian so it’s worth a bit more with the exchange).

Naked Cosmetics HD Finishing Banana Powder 14.99
NYX Professional Makeup Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry 5.99
BellaPierre Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara 20
True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask 13.24
Luxie Beauty (Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514) 23.66

    Very impressed Ipsy! =)

    • meant $18 for the brush

  6. My bag was so “me” this month, I feel like they’re listening to surveys and feedback.

    I got:

    * NYX butter lipstick in “Lifeguard” (weirdly enough red was the one lip color I didn’t have checked just ’cause I have so many, but I didn’t have one quite like this yet))
    * Hikari cream eyeshadow in “Latte” (which is close to the color of my eyes)
    * Absolute New York nano eyeliner (this thing is SO smooth, it’s awesome)
    * Luxie blush brush (SO SOFT!)
    * Biobelle sheet mask duo (sheet masks are one of my favorite skincare things)

  7. This month I got my first IPSY bag. Honestly not a fan of the bag itself but my sister was a fan of what came in the bag! I don’t really wear makeup so I don’t know a lot about it, which is probably why I liked the stuff that came. Everything I don’t use I gave to my sister and she liked what she got so overall pretty happy.

The only thing I was mad about was the fact that I was on the waiting list for 2 months.

  8. I loved the bag this month! All my items were full size and all but one I’ve used and already love. I got the lipstick in berry and it’s super pretty. I also got 2 sheet masks, the HD finishing powder, the highlighting brush, and the cream blush. I’m not a fan of cream blushes, I prefer powder. I also think the color I received was very hard for me. But it was full size (like everything else) so I’m going to save it for a Christmas present.

  9. I just signed up for ipsy (I really like birchbox and allure but wasn’t happy with play and canceled it). Im looking forward to getting my first bag in march 🙂

  10. Always Pleased with Ipsy.. Honestly 🤗
    $12 Latte Nail polish.. requested

    • Sorry for Duplicate Posts.. My Internet is Sooo messed up.

  11. I can Honestly say I am Always Pleased with Ipsy. 💖 This Month is Awesome 🤗
    $12 Latte Nail Polish
Eyeshadow in the color Latte!! …matches my polish
    Luna Highlighter
    NYX Lipstick
    Duo combo pack.. FaceMasks

  12. I feel like my bag was a mistake in my favor 👌🏻 I got the
two face masks combined value of $4
    FULL SIZE
Marsk eyeshadow in “you’re toast” $22.50
    FULL SIZE
organic pharmacy-lip and eye cream $48
    FULL SIZE
    Luxie blush brush #514. $18
    FULL SIZE
absolute New York liquid liner $10

    Value $102.50

SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED!!! And thankful of course and it’s all product I will use

  13. Did anyone else get a brush that didn’t look quite right? My luxie brush bristles were sticking out and one even was looped around and tucked back inside the top part. Usually Luxie has such great quality brushes, but this one looked terrible.

Do you think Ipsy would send me a new one if I emailed them pictures?

    • Mine is a bit…off. The bristles seem okay, but it’s bent somehow where the wood handle meets the metal. I’m not certain how Ipsycare would handle it, but you aren’t alone.

  14. I just cancelled my Ipsy subscription after a year and a half because I am on product overload, but what a way to go out! My bag had the Luxie blush brush, NYX lipstick, 2 Biobelle masks, Trust Fund Beauty nail polish, and the Organic Pharmacy Lip and Eye Cream. The value was a whopping $95!!!! The lip and eye cream alone was $48. I also redeemed all my points since I knew I was quitting and was one of the few lucky ones to score the Clearista retexturizing gel for $70!!! With a bag like this one, so tempted to resubscribe! FYI: Ipsy will hold your points in your account for a year after you cancel just in case you want to resubscribe.

  15. I LOVE most of my Ipsy bag this month!
Trust Fund Nail Polish in “I Give Good Tweet” – I emailed a request for this shade to Ipsy customer, love it. Shimmery muted periwinkle blue color.
Befine Food Skin Care Gentle Cleanser
NYX Butter lipstick in Lifeguard – brown red looks very vampy but sheers out to a nice stain wupith some balm over top.
    Bellapierre Waterproof Mascara
Naked Cosmetics Banana HD Finishing Powder

I have already emailed customer care requesting the First Aid Beauty Facial Moisturizer that was in the spoilers for the March bag. I can never get enough facial moisturizer and this one looks like the full size 1.7 oz (going by the picture shown of the packaging) which retails for $24 at Ulta! If I get that next month I al oat don’t care about the rest of my bag. So far Ipsy has been well worth the $10 subscription😀

    • Got the same things and love them. I am very happy with my bag.

    • Where did you find Ipsy March Spoilers?

    • Where did you find Ipsy March Spoilers?

      • They are posted here on this blog.p, search Ipsy and all the posts come up. I did get an email reply that they would include the moisturizer I asked for in my March glam bag.

  16. I got the bronzer too. It is so small. The pan isn’t wide enough to even get a brush in there.

    • Totally agree. I threw mine away. Worthless

  17. I got the Marsk shadow in You’re Toast, Japonesque brush cleanser, Absolute NY nano liner, Biobelle sheet mask duo and LUXIE blush brush. Happy with 4/5, but think I can easily gift the Marsk shadow.

My biggest complaint with Ipsy is that it takes me 13 days to receive it once it’s shipped. That’s nuts.

    • Where are you? I am in Alaska and I don’t get my bags until the last of the month.

Overall I am happy with Ipsy. I just got my third subscription. I don’t buy any other make up. I sometimes have to buy foundation, but other than that I just use Ipsy. I cancelled Lip Monthly which was hit or miss for me.

  18. I got the same Luxie brush and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to use it? It’s wonderfully soft…so soft that I have trouble picking up any product with it! It doesn’t seem to work well on anything pressed or baked, so is it for loose powders only? Brush mavens, help!

  19. Bag twins! I love the brush for blush and powder and highlighter and bronzer-it applies lightly. The bronzer is pretty good. I can’t get the bye bye undereye to look good under my eyes but it is good for concealer. I love the Rosa Noir scent too! It smells like Lollia’s Relax hand cream! I like the IBY highlighter but have tried so many that look better on me. This one is nice and subtle for a highlighter though. It swatches So brightly but doesn’t stay that way long on my face. I LOVE it as an eye highlight!

  20. I got the IBY Highlighter and I love it!

    • Mine was crushed.

  21. Really happy with my bag save one item and 4/5 is AMAZING compared to what it had been lately…

    Loving the:

    Nyx lipstick in Lifeguard
Organic Pharmacy Lip and Eye cream
    True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask
    Luxie Brush

    Not loving:
Hikari cream pigment (can’t stop wishing this had been the Luna highlighter… I don’t think I’ve gotten a perfect bag before!)

  22. WHAT THE tiny house…the Mott bronzer is so little!! I think This is one for Birchbox! lol I shouldn’t complain I love matte bronzers for my brows and I’m almost out on the balm one I use now!!!

    • Oh! For brows! I’m now excited for the “tiny house” 🙂 I’d not thought to use bronzer this way. Thanks.

  23. I’m neither excited or disappointed in my bag. Generally I’m always happy with whatever I recieve. It’s $10 and I always get at least one item that cost more than the whole bag that I really love. To me, that makes it completely worth it. I tend to pass on what doesn’t work for me to my mom and she seems to enjoy them. I’ve also been really impressed by how cute the bags are. I’ve used them as clutches several time when going out. I also love that this month wasn’t the typical Valentine’s Day theme. This is definitely a bag I can use regularly. This month I recieved:

-The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream (passed to mom)
-NYX Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard (passed to mom. I don’t wear reds at all but she fell in love with it and wore it tonight for dinner with her boyfriend and friends. So win.)
-Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer (kept, but so small. Probably will use as eyeshadow instead. But it’s nice.)
-Be Fine Food Skin Care Gentle Cleaver (happy about this because my skin has not been happy lately.)
-Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514 (this is what makes the whole bag worth it. I love this brand of brushes and I was hoping for it. If I got a brush every month I would not care what else I recieved.)

    • Cleanser*. Not cleaver lol.

    • WHAT THE tiny house…the Mott bronzer is so small!! I think this is one for birchbox!! Lol Anyway, I’m shouldn’t complain because I love matte bronzer for my brows and I’m almost out of my the balm one!!

  24. Loved my bag! I got:

-Trust Fund nail polish in $12 Latte
-NYX lipstick in ripe berry (full size)
    -BellaPierre Mascara (full size)
-Promise organic coconut daily facial scrub
    -True Botanicals resurfacing moisture mask

I love reading and seeing what others received. Ipsy was a sure hit for me this month.

  25. Wow. The ONLY thing I received that is pictured here is the make up brush. This is my first ipsy bag and it was horrible. I don’t even know what “bonus” items are, I sure didn’t get any. One more bag for ipsy, if the next one is as bad as the first I’m cancelling. 🙁

    • Oh no! Sorry your first bag was a miss 🙁 What did you get?

  26. Pretty disappointed in my bag, not the fault of IPSY, newbie here. I’m OLD and really wanted the It cosmetics under eye or anything coming up that helps with saggy, baggy, dark, under eyes. I’ve subscribed to several beauty boxes for a few months now and haven’t gotten any under eye concealer’s, weird huh? Have gotten eye creams though. My bag this month :
*Nyx Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry-Full Size $6
*Bellapierre Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara-Full Size $20
*Law Beauty Essentials Nail Polish-Full Size $9
*Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream-Full Size $44
*True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask $12
    All total $91.00 value!
I’m kinda a brat to complain…Have a box of unopened black mascara’s, ditto on the lipstick and I like my nail polish clear or intense colors, no mauve, greige, etc colors for me. Need to join the swap group! High hopes for the cream and mask though.

    • Sorry your bag was a bust! 🙁 But definitely join swaps – you’ve got some high-value items that should be really popular! 🙂

  27. I got my first Ipsy bag! I got:

    – Luna Highlighter in Calypso
    – Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black
    – NYX Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry
    – Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast
    – Soo Ae Sheet Mask – either the Green Tea Collagen Essence Mask or the Purifying Black Charcoal Mask

I can’t tell which mask came with February because one of them was a bonus with my first bag. My bonus items were:

    – Soo Ae Sheet Mask
    – .em by Michelle Pham Lipstick in Uptown
    – Noyah Cherry Lip Balm

I’m not usually a highlighter fan, but I thought the Luna highlighter was actually pretty nice. I will probably add it to my main makeup bag. I’ll also add my .em bonus lipstick since the color is really flattering. The NYX formulation is nice, but the color isn’t my best – I’ll try to use it every once in a while. I’m not a huge fan of eye pencils or mineral eye shadows, but they’re both decent. The lip balm is decently moisturizing and basic. Sheet masks – ehh no strong feelings, I just never remember to use them.

Amazingly, my girlfriend actually likes the bag, so I can’t complain too much.

Overall, it’s not a box I love, but it’s not awful. I’m hoping I’ll get better boxes in the future.

  28. I loved my ipsy bag this month, even though I got the NYX lipstick I’ll never wear… I redeemed points for the clearista retexturing gel though, and I got a full size product! That’s a $70 free-be! I assumed it would be a mini sample tube, and am thrilled! Thanks MSA for the heads up!

  29. Here’s a tip for people who are getting the super small bronzers. As long as it’s mostly matte you can use it to contour your nose. You would be using a smaller brush for that anyways, so voila. That way you don’t have to wrestle with trying to get a bigger brush in the pan.

    • great suggestion – thank you!!

    • I’ve been using the super small thebalm bronzer as an eyeshadow crease color. I depotted it from the package and put it in a z palette with other eye shadows.

      • Great idea! I just ordered the special edition Ulta Z palette for $20 and a glitter eye shadow to put in it for $8. With that I got a 12 piece Ulta makeup freebie kit, then I used a 20% off coupon which dropped my Maui Babe tanning lotion from 29.99 down to $23.99, and my thermal heat wrap hair mask ( which I love) was on sale for $8.99.
In addition I got a 4 piece Urban Decay goodie special cause I spent over $50.
Free shipping and a total of $60.

First on my list is to move all my Balm samples and those little shadows from Ofra & UD to my new palette!
        Thanks for the suggestion!

        • Please take some advice from someone who learned this the hard way: Use the magnetic stickers that come with the palette. My boyfriend accidentally knocked mine off the coffee table the day after I de-potted all of my makeup. The ones that didn’t have the magnetic stickers on them were broken all to pieces. 🙁 Luckily, there were some amazing people on the forum who helped me out to replace my favorite items. #sograteful #lessonlearned

          • Thank You! I’ve never used a Z palette before so this is great advice. Much appreciated. 😊

  30. I received an email yesterday that there was no waitlist so I signed up but was put on the waitlist anyway. I sent a note asking if there were any feb boxes left and I received an email fairly quickly that I was manually removed from waitlist and will be receiving the feb box. Very happy about that. I cancelled glossy box and didn’t order the Feb target box so I am justifying another sub box. 🙂

  31. This is the highest value bag I have gotten from Ipsy but most of the items I won’t use. It is too makeup heavy.

*Nyx Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry-Full Size $6
    * Luxie Blush Brush-Full Size $18
*Naked Banana HD Finishing Powder-Full Size $23
*Bellapierre Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara-Full Size $20
*Rose Noir Moe Hand & Body Milk-Deluxe size $6.50

    *Total $73.50

That is an amazing value! All the items are full size except the Hand Milk. The hand milk is way too heavily scented for me so I won’t use that. I do like the nyx lipstick and the color is great.

    • Hi Becca! Your bag is a perfect example to the cynics to say was always gets the high-end bag. Not always!

      • ‘who’ say…

  32. Love the brush, threw away the bronzer, seriously cant even use its sooo small. Lipstick is a pretty harsh color for me but I think I can work with it. Got a hi-liter that is good.

Can’t remember what else, I got Allure, Boxycharm and Birchbox all the same day so it’s running together.

  33. Just got my bag and I’m frankly glad I am giving up subs for a while ( not the sandwich kind, never ever that hehe)

First the bag is a big flop! medium denim and neon dayglo orange? no thank you! I wish it had been red or pink detailed, so it was slightly valentine’s without being hearts and roses and cupid..let me go look at last years bag… DAMN IT that one was super cute! maybe people complained it was too on the nose? I was on a ipsy break this time last year so I missed this bag. now I’m having a dayglo fobo moment.

This is what I got in my bag

    1) Luna by Luna Highlighter in Calypso, this is a really pretty highlight, and not a tone I have already, sort of silvery sort of lavender it made my been sick all week skin look much better so, that’s a win right? Its also a generous sample, I don’t know if its full sized but its easily a 3 or 4 month if worn daily amount.

    2) Luxie Brush 514, when I saw this on my spoiler page I was worried that I already had this brush, but I had 504 which is the angled one, this is a fabulous brush, soft works like a dream and who doesn’t love getting brushes from a 10 dollar bag? Already 8 dollars ahead of the game with just this item.

    3) Rosa Noir Hand and Body Milk Jury’s still out on this one, I tend to love rose scented things but this is a bit ..odd, like grandmother scent, I can’t decide if I like it or not, but the formula is nice hands are soft and smooth without being greasy. I think I’ll suffer through it either way.

    4) marsk mineral eyeshadow in You’re Toast a really nice neutral color here, nothing special about it, but one I’ll keep in my every day makeup rotation because it plays well with lots of colors, I got another of these shadows ages ago in a deeper color and need to dig it out and do a two toned look with them.

    5) Bellapierre waterproof mascara BLEH, first, am I crazy or was that wand crooked? and not in a innovation way that makes my lashes look like a doll baby, but in a jammed in the bottom of my hand bag busted way. It didn’t do much for my lashes, and I might be nuts but I don’t like waterproof mascara ( there I said it!) I have never had an issue with regular formulas running on me through sweat and crying, and this just makes it really tough to get off. no thanks!

I also ordered a bonus item which was the NYX shadow trio, happy with it, and it pairs nicely with the shadow I got in my bag this month.

I think I got a decent bag, but as I was looking at the stuff in my bag it dawned on me I spend 10 bucks a month for them to throw things together for me, maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. and while I got my money’s worth, I could take the 10 bucks and buy one thing I know I want, and not play the waiting game for the 6th to see which random bag of goodies I was given. then wait 10 more days to see what they are actually like. I loved one item in my bag, hated one and was rather indifferent to the rest like sure they are nice, but was any of it something I’d go spend money on myself? nope. So while Ipsy was nice this month I’m glad I am taking a break for a while. ..again.

  34. I got:

-Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast
-SOO AE Sheet Mask Duo – Purifying Black Charcoal Mask & Nature Green Tea Collagen Essence Mask
-Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black
-Winky Lux Diamond Complexion Powder in Medium
-Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514

A good box for me. I’ll use everything except probably the eyeshadow as it looks a little too shimmery for my taste but the rest is awesome!

  35. I always get a little jelly that most people get their bags/boxes of most subscriptions days before I do. I live in a small town in Oregon, not exactly a central or high traffic location! I don’t know what it is about ipsy, but even months when I get products I don’t like all that much, I still like getting the bag. It is a really great value, to be sure. I have a friend who loves makeup but is on a fixed income, so I give a lot of things to him, and he gives me makeup lessons. He’s great at it!

    I’ll be getting:
    Luna highlighter, which I requested
NYX lipstick, which I’ll probably look at swatches of to decide whether to keep or swap. I love lip color and I like NYX, but I’m so tired of reds and darks.
Indie Lee rosehip cleanser sounds interesting
Lord & Berry eyeliner will go straight to swapping. I can’t use pencils because my old eyelids are too crepe-y, haha!
Hikari eyeshadow looks good, but I might already have several because I do love metallics
The bag itself is the first one I might not keep, because it looks just awful. We’ll see.

    • How did you request the highlighter? Did you just email them and ask for it? I’ve heard that was an option but never tried it.

  36. Ok folks I gotta ask. How do you get make up brushes with ipsy. No kidding, I stick to MSA, like glue and constantly see folks discussing brushes that they receive. Also, second month in a row I received practically the same color eye shadow. Different brands but almost the same color. I must say I would be over the moon to have gotten Liz’s bag. To me her bag was a home run!! I did go in and played around with my preferences. Before, I was wide open, now I’m a little more picky. Omgosh, and all the browns I get. Ugh!

    • Hi Dena-
When Spoilers were shown — I emailed Ipsy Customer Service and requested the Luxie Brush

      • I’ve decided to do nothing this month and got brush anyway. So I guess it’s pure luck.

    • Ipsy customer care is the best. Im sure if you shoot them an email and get a dialog started, you can tell them how much you would like to recieve brushes and they will make sure you start receiving them. I do that with eyeliner. You can also inquire about the month aheads products and they will send you some products that you can pick from. You can also opt out of your least favorite product for 6 months. I told them I didn’t want hand creams and they said no problem. Hope that helps.

    • Make sure your very critical when reviewing your bag items, you’re not gonna hurt any feelings. If I’m not over the moon about something I make sure to only put “its ok” and save the likes and loves for things I really want. You will always get some items you don’t really want so just make sure they know what items you DO want.

    • Send them an email and ask. They are the absolute best when it comes to customer service. Worst case, if there are no brushes next month they’ll still give you a selection choice. Good luck!

    • In fact, if you to Liz’s link below, there is an Elizabeth Mott blending brush that you can request. ☺

      • Thanks to all of these replies!!!😍 I will follow up with customer service …..thanks again!

    • I always get make up brushes in my bags. I have make up brushes checked in my profile. I always review brushes with five stars and love them on the review. I have more than one subscription so I get two brushes a month. I save one to regift to my bff.

  37. Was not happy with my bag at all. I requested a mascara before the spoiler came out. I do not like the bella pierre that I received. I hate those weird skinny brushes and it takes so long to dry that I ended up with it all over my eyes this morning. The actual bag is hideous and marsk eyeshadow is awful in my opinion. The only thing I did like was the Luxie blush brush and I left it on my bed and the dog ate it, so…..probably time to give it a rest with Ipsy.

    • OMG I am so sorry about your brush. Sounds like one of those days! and it would be kind of funny if I totally did not empathize with you. Better day tomorrow!

  38. I love Ipsy!! My products are great this month. I got the Organic Pharmacy lip and eye cream and I like it so much that I went to the website to price it and for the same size Ipsy sent (10ml) its $48! Its pretty awesome for Ipsy to send out a product with such a high value. I also got the Luxie brush, the Hikari shadow, a Lord and Berry eyeliner and the NYX lipstick. The lipstick is just okay for me, mostly because I am tired of reds, and the bag is bland and crinkly but overall, I am very happy with my Ipsy this month.

  39. I’m not sure if anybody who tried to unsubscribe knows this already but I was able to skip a month (March) since I wanted to give Ipsy a little rest. I’m on a product overload lately. I thought it’s a good feature just like Allure, Julep and BOTM!

    • This is very good to know, thank you Erika! I’m not ready to give ipsy a rest anytime soon, but it’s nice of them to not put folks back at the bottom of the wait list. Graze lets you skip, too (in addition to choosing whether to get 4, 2, or 1 box a month). Gotta have something to munch on whilst playing around with makeup!

    • Does this require emailing customer service? I’m considering canceling if my March bag sucks, but I wonder if this is the better route to go.

    • You’re welcome! And if they haven’t changed their policy yet, I read on their website that when a current subscriber cancel her subscription, she can get it back without having to be in the waitlist. I just hit the unsubscribe button and the option popped up.

  40. My bag is awful this month. I like the IT Cosmetics, which I requested, and I’m glad I got the NYX lipstick in Ripe Berry because I don’t need any more reds (I really don’t need any more berries either, but I really like them and gladly accept more). Other than that, I got Briogeo hair creme (don’t use hair creams usually because they weigh down my thin hair), Hikari cream pigment (not interested in this brand and have a ton of bronze eyeshadows; luckily, already swapped this), and Trust Fund nail polish is $12 Latte (brown nail polish is not my thing). I said this on the spoiler posts and will say it again with confidence now that my bag has arrived: this makeup bag is hideous. Looks like a Trapper Keeper pencil case. I briefly thought of keeping it to give to my mom if the colors were true to the photos because navy blue and orange are Chicago Bears colors and she’s a huge fan. But no, this bag is a medium shade of denim.

    • If you look at what was sampled this month., It wasnt that good. I think I would have picked some of what they sent me from the choices available, but overall no that great of a month.

      • I didn’t think it was a great product month either. I did end up liking my stuff really well with the exception of my alright, boring red lipstick but overall, it was not their best product lineup. On the part of Ipsy I will say that after looking over all this month’s products, I do feel Ipsy did a good job of picking what I would like best out of what they did offer, again with the exception of the lipstick, so I am happy with them for that as well. And I do think they will have a great comeback for March. Im looking forward to seeing both the products and the bag.

        • I agree. I was disappointed with what I got [marsk eyeshadow, rodial black Eye Pen, indie lee Cleanser and the VENeffects lip treatment (the only thing I hated just because of the texture/flavor)] and realized it was the best of a generally cruddy situation this month.

Anybody else notice the rodial eyeliner is not adjustable and the tip you see is all that’s given? Or am I an idiot who unlearned how to use mechanical eyeliner pencils?

    • Man, I’m going to have to find someone to swap my Hikari with – I have zero interest in cream shadows and a couple of bronzes already…

Wish I had gotten the Luna highlighter instead!

  41. I got the IT Cosmetics Illuminating Concealer last month and it’s soooo good! It’s now my favorite too.

I really dislike those tiny bronzer samples- what a waste of packaging! I got The Balm bronzer last month and couldn’t pick up any product with my big brush. So frustrating. I had to switch to a smaller blush brush, then I gave up.

My items are totally different from yours this month, I may like them better once I try them out. But otherwise Ipsy is great.

    • Yay! Glad you love the concealer, too! Those The Balm samples are always tiny, too 🙁 Works for eyeshadows, but really frustrating for bronzer/blush!

      • Maybe you can help. New subscriber and can’t find out how to request items. I haven’t gotten a shipping order yet. Nothing on the website in FAQ.

          • Thank you. I knew I read about it somewhere. I forget with so much information on this site.
Are you publishing winners of all the Gallentine’s Day giveaways?

          • We’ve been posting the winners on the original giveaway pages as the giveaways end, but we can do a roundup post once all giveaways are done if you’d like!

  42. Liz,
My bag was almost the same. I got the true botanicals mask instead of the hand cream. I felt the same about the bronzer. It was so tiny.

  43. I’m also receiving the Luxie blush brush! I’ve received brushes in the majority of my Ipsy bags and I LOVE it. I think February’s bag is really goofy looking, but at least it isn’t the graffiti bag!

  44. I got a different variation and I have to admit, this was the first Ipsy bag that I was not that pleased with. even the bag wasn’t that great to me. I think looking at the spoilers on here makes it worse because I see them and hope I get certain things and when I don’t, I’m disappointed!

  45. This month’s bag is hands down my best one ever. Just one of the items alone is a $44 sample (the eye and lip serum). I have the Lucie blush brush same as Liz, so $18. So $62 just in 2 items, craziness. And I love 4/5 items

  46. Liz, have you considered IT cosmetics subscription to review. I am eyeing it for a while but would be nice to know what to expect before I commit.
Ipsy bag – I got different variation but happy with every item.

    • ooo!! Can you send me the link to it? I’m not familiar with it but now I’m excited 🙂

“Approximately 4 weeks after your first order is shipped, and then approximately every 12 weeks thereafter, you will be sent a new full size supply of IT Cosmetics™. Each shipment will be charged to the card you provide today, in three installments, approximately every 4 weeks at the guaranteed low price of $39.95 plus $3.99 for shipping and handling per installment, unless you call to cancel.”

        • That sounds like a really bad deal. It’s not a mystery type box, just auto delivery of the same products every 3 months–which by the way, you pay 39.95 monthly to receive the shipments every three months. Even the first kit is listed and “introductory” size so not even worth it to get one shipment and cancel

          • Lindsay, I think you right, they way they worded it so ambiguous, but I think you end up paying $120 for one shipment. Not exactly a true sub.

          • Ok, the wording of this is terrible. I’ve had to interpret vague laws for graduate school and City government policy, plus I do freelance editing for ESL writers, and I am still not positive what these stipulations mean. I think you two might be interpreting it correctly, but wow, this is horribly worded (and overpriced!).

        • I dont think the wording is confusing. You pay $39 for the 5 peice set, but your payment is divided into 3 parts so you pay about $12/ month to have a set delivered every 90 days..not a bad deal at all and i could see this working for anyone that needs an every day look and doesnt want to test new tiny samples of random stuff every month.
Its auto delivery just like Honest company and bare minerals, and even amazon now does it.

          • You pay $39 for the first smaller size set. Then 3 installments of $39 before the next full size set. Like proactive. I don’t know the value of those products individually so saying it was a bad deal might not be the case–but it is terribly worded and misleading.

          • I just called them. 3 full size items cost $89, any additional $15 (minimum 3 max 8). It can be paid by installment payments or by open invoice. You can customize your items, but you have to call it. The site has no capabilities to make customization there. Overall, very confusing and very bad deal.

        • I’ve seen this commercial and had considered it, until I saw NUMEROUS complaints on their fb page. You get automatically added to the auto shipments and billed accordingly. Many who signed up didn’t realize that. When watching the commercial I thought it was $39 for those items and that was it. A deal to try them, that’s not what it is and apparently it’s HARD to cancel! Just a warning to anyone thinking about it!

          • Ah, thanks…39/ month …. 😂
            swerve

    • IT cosmetics subscription?!?! I LOOOOVE IT cosmetics! I would love some more into on this as well… I would sign up in a heartbeat!!! <3 <3 <3
