The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box

The Cost: $25 (new price)

The Products: 3 Glamorous Chicks beauty products of your choice, including loose mineral pigments, liquid lipsticks, loose glitter, and more, as well as a few extras (sometimes from other brands). Occasionally there may be products from up-and-coming brands, as well.

Good to Know: A week or two before the box ships out, you will get an e-mail allowing you to choose three items from among lipsticks, lip glosses, mascaras, loose powder pigments, and glitters. Be on the lookout for this and be sure to respond in a timely manner as the box will be much more customized to your taste if you do. (They may substitute if something is out of stock, but the substitutions they have chosen are really super close to what I originally picked, so I am happy.) This email doesn’t come at a consistent time every month, though.

Ships to: U.S. (was free when I signed up; some MSA readers are reporting a $3.99 shipping charge for new sign-ups)

Sometimes you’ll get a card with example lipstick colors. It’s more promotional material than information card. It also contains a coupon code for shop purchases.

Metallic Lip Gloss in “Love Potion” (full size!) – Value $16.99

This was one of my choices for the month. Because PURPLE GLITTER. This is actually really thick for a gloss and the glitter is obvious when you have it on. Obviously not an everyday look for me (I work at a law office) but fun for weekends, at least.

Lipstick in “Red Cocktail” (full size!) – Value $14.99

This was another one of my selections. You can never have too much red lipstick, in my opinion. I’m eventually going to try all of the different red lipsticks Glamorous Chicks has to offer. Like the other lipsticks from Glamorous Chicks in this packaging, this one has a really nice, long-lasting formula.

Shimmer Powder in Blue Diamond (2.35 g, full size!) – Value $14.99

This was my third selection for the month. This year, I have committed to using all my loose eyeshadows (I am for three each day during the week). I am using my Glamorous Chicks subscription to fill in holes in the collection. I wanted a light blue and found this one. This is super pigmented and blends very well.

L’Oreal Infallible Paints (shade 320, 0.27 fl oz) – Value $9.99

This is the first time I’ve received a drugstore makeup product from Glamorous Chicks. But, I have not tried this product line before and I will wear this color occasionally. In terms of performance, this is fairly standard for a liquid lipstick (in other words, stays on well but is a little bit drying). I am going to try this one with a gloss on top next time.

L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Cobalt Blue (shade 900, 0.26 fl oz) – Value $7.99

The cardboard backing was a little beat up from shipping, but this was sealed. And it came at a great time. I have another blue mascara I’ve been using some but I’ve had it open too long and need to toss it. I didn’t have this on for long but I did try it out and found that it didn’t irritate my eyes, so that is a good start. (I have blue eyes and this color really emphasizes them.)

Here are swatches of, from top to bottom, the shimmer powder, the red lipstick, the purple glitter lip gloss, a swipe of the mascara, and the L’Oreal lipstick. My apologies for the photo quality.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $64.95 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. Once again, that’s more than twice the monthly box price, so I’m definitely happy with the value. Of course, I’m happy with the Glamorous Chicks-branded products I selected, but I am also totally fine with getting L’Oreal products since they are also bright, bold colors and these were new products for me. (I like that it’s not just another black mascara or eyeliner!)

That L’Oreal stuff is all brand new this season! I know it’s drugstore, which I have no problem with, but at least it’s not old stuff. I myself have some of those lip paints, in purple and nude, and I can’t wait to try that cobalt mascara.

I just realized that over the weekend when I saw a big display of it at Target.

These colors are so fun and pretty! I wish they’d had all this stuff when I was in my 20’s or 30’s. Not that 40+ can’t wear them but I personally wouldn’t be comfortable except on a rare occasion maybe. 🙂

I’m hot flash age, old enough to remember the 1980s neons and brights and iridescence the first time around. Back then I couldn’t afford much clothes and makeup and such, but now I can, so I wear what I want. I had to go in little steps to push my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I have.

These subscription boxes are great for pushing your comfort zone. I used to hate red lipstick, but apparently I just hadn’t tried enough of them. Now, thanks to all my monthly, bi-monthly, and seasonal boxes and bags, there is almost nothing I can’t make work (except for too-pale foundation and powder). My faves type shades are still my faves, but I have definitely broadened my beauty horizons…and I was in high school and starting college in the ’80s 🙂

You go girl. Glow with all these great colors. Are you liking your Medusas box? Have you checked out Notoriously Morbid for more gothic colors? They have a monthly box called Vanishing Cabinet but there is a wait list.

Um hi, I’ll be 50 this year and I still wear colored mascaras and bright lipstick. Only one stopping you is you 🙂

I turn 40 in October. The purple glitter is probably not work appropriate, but I would wear any of the rest of it to my office job.

Marion

Those swatches look very complimentary to each other!

Too bad three of them are lip colors so can’t be worn together (ombre lips and such are too much of a hassle for me). But yeah, definitely doing some blue eye makeup in the coming days.

Oooh, I either didn’t see Love Potion, or else I didn’t realize it was a glitter. I requested metallics in emerald green and a blue a little darker than royal. I got the glitter glosses and I LOVE them and have gotten so many compliments on them.
