Awaken Box is a new subscription service that delivers handmade global artisanal goods and supports global charities.

From Awaken Box:

Our mission is to awaken hearts and minds to the needs of our neighbors across the globe and to support artisans in third world countries who are trying to sustain a business for themselves to simply survive.

That’s a noble mission. Bravo!

Our recipe of the month is Kenyan Tomato-Avocado Salad. It looks simple but delicious.

Jacaranda Creations Hand Towels

These gorgeous cloth hand towels were made by women in slum areas of Nairobi, Kenya. When unfolded, they measure 12″ x 18″. The women are part of an organization called Jacaranda Creations, which teaches women to provide for themselves and their families by creating beautiful things from local materials. I love these!

Kamba Kids Salad Servers

These might be the most exquisite wooden salad servers I have ever seen! I can hardly believe they’re mine! They were made by Kamba Kids, an organization that helps to provide for orphans in Kamba.

Verdict: I am really enjoying my subscription to Awaken Box! I am very happy that they have started providing more information about the items and the artisans behind them! I love both items they sent this month, and I love feeling like I’m helping to support such important charities. It’s hard to know what the specific retail values of anything they send might be, but I think the contents are always well worth the cost of the box.

What do you think of Awaken Box?

  1. Wow, those salad servers are really lovely!

  2. When I opened my box this month I was blown away by these salad servers. They are stunning with beautiful, quality craftsmanship. They are probably one of my favorite box items so far, as well as one of my favorite subscription boxes. I’ve highly recommended it on the forum and to others as a consistently solid, quality box with great value. Thanks for the great review!

  3. Loved my box this month. Perfect salad servers for parties and my napkins were a pretty cobalt blue.
