Every month, Mitten Crate includes a card with information about all the brands and artisans they feature in that month’s box. Being from Michigan myself, it’s so much fun to find out about businesses that are right near me!

Dave’s Sweet Tooth Toffee, Dark Chocolate – 4 oz, Value $5.99

Oh, my word – I squealed when I saw this toffee was in the December box! Mitten Crate has sent this brand of toffee before and it completely changed my view on toffee. I am obsessed, and they included a coupon code for an order, which I can assure you will be placed very, very soon.

His toffee is coated in crushed roasted almonds which give it a nutty taste and powdery texture. I think it also helps it not stick in your teeth as much somehow (or that could just be part of their formula/recipe, too). This is insanely delicious and I know I’ll be buying this toffee for pretty much ever.

Beau Bien Fine Foods Cranberry Apple Chutney – 7.75 oz, Value $10

This chutney is designed to be more tart than sweet, and they recommend pairing it with roast chicken or turkey, walnuts, blue cheese, and roasted butternut squash. I think a roast chicken and butternut squash with this sounds like a delicious winter meal! I like the flavors, but it is less sweet than expected.

Jessica’s Natural Foods Gluten-Free Pecan Almond Granola – 12 oz, Value $6.99

This granola is really yummy! The flavor and texture are both great. It has rolled oats, honey, brown sugar, sunflower oil, pecans, ground flax seed, coconut, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sea salt! This also is a nice-sized bag.

Detroit Popcorn Gourmet Caramel Popcorn – 3 oz, Value $1.69

This popcorn was a hit with my husband! There’s lots of caramel on it, so of course, he liked it, haha. A classic treat done right.

Mitten Munch Trail Bars, Apple Pie – 1.9 oz, Value $2

This bar has pieces of real apple mixed with almonds, peanuts, and cinnamon/spices… it’s a great snack, especially this time of year.

Mary Ann’s Soda Co Cranberry Soda – 8.4 fl oz, Value $1.67

It’s fun when Mitten Crate sends beverages because it’s a nice variety you don’t always get in subscription boxes and my husband always loves the sodas they feature! This is a great drink – and also would be perfect for mixing into a cocktail.

Verdict: I enjoyed this December Mitten Crate – it felt like a great winter box. The value comes out to $28.34, which is a lower value than I usually expect but has been pretty normal the last couple months. I wish the value were more, but for locally-sourced boxes, I think you compromise a retail value much more than usual for the discovery/curation factor. That’s also subjective and some might be more dissatisfied than others, but I have found some of my favorite snacks ever from this box and enjoyed their December crate.

What do you think of this Mitten Crate? Have you tried any locally-sourced boxes before?
