  1. I’m very happy about this.
Have been a subscriber for almost 2 years and have been opting out of most recently because they have not offered proteins of this quality in quite some time and I don’t go for the chicken thighs!

  2. Oh total bummer. I felt like every month they already had at least one meal comparable to the new featured “premium” meals….looks like now that are just going to force me to upgrade if i want a good meal, or be left to select from the “not favorites”.
    Guess im out.

    • You don’t have to upgrade…. $11.50 per meal is the current price ($69 for 6 meals), but now for the same price it will include one premium meal per week. You could downgrade if you wanted and pay less, but your meal choice would be restricted (I imagine only certain meal combinations could be selected aka Blue Apron) and you would have to pay extra for the premium meals.

I for one think this is awesome, it looks like the premium meals will contain a premium quality meat (filet mignon? scallops? yum.) which their regular recipes have never included, I have been a subscriber for over a year and have never seen these. Salmon I have seen occasionally, but that’s only one of the meals shown.

Thanks for the pricing update, Liz!!! I got the email about the new meals but nothing about pricing.

      • While I do think the idea is intriguing, the current price is $9.99 a meal. The pricing model sounds like marketing that has been made popular by subscription models of the past. Basically, they increase the price of the current tier, and allow the user to opt out and go to a new lower tier if they prefer to keep their same price.

TL;DR: The current plan will be increased to $11.50 per meal per week, and the customer can choose to downgrade their current plan to a new basic plan in order to continue paying $9.99 per meal per weak.

        • When did the price change to 9.99? I’ve been paying $69/box for 6 meals for a long time, which is $11.50 per meal.

          • I don’t know when, but it plainly says on the website that it is $9.99 a meal, and my plan is $59.94 a week for 6 meals.

          • I have also been paying $69 for six meals which is what it was a year ago as well.

          • Weird. Customer service says “in December we debuted a new price point for our new customers. The new price for the classic box plan is now $59.94 for new customers. However, the $59.94 plan did also bring some other changes.”

So I am guessing the $59.94 plan doesn’t allow any combination of meals to be chosen, and hasn’t since December? I’m just wondering what I paid $9 more for every week for the past 2 months…

          • I’m not sure what the difference is… I can choose any combination of the meals for that week.

          • I started in Dec (2016) and pay the $69 a box. I had some free boxes I sent 3 of my coworkers who started their subscriptions in Jan and two of them pay $54.94 and one pays $69. Lol, we all have had the same options. We’ve been trying to figure this out too!

          • I’ve been trying to figure out the difference since January…. but I just decided to “switch to the basic plan forever” and the only difference that I notice in my account is that now i pay $59.95 instead of $69 and there is 1 meal/week that is labeled “premium” that is an extra $10 if i want to add it. Before, I could have selected it for “free”. So as far as I can tell, unless you plan on ALWAYS picking the premium meals (and when they’re free you can’t even tell which ones they are!!!)… then you are better off being on the “basic $59” plan and on the random weeks you want to add the premium recipe on then you pay $69 for that week.

  3. I like this idea!
