Geek Fuel doesn’t have themes, but you’ll know 2-3 franchises in each month before it ships. This month, they let new subscribers choose their QFig for a couple of days. But, this was only open to new subscribers.

Each month includes a card that details each item in your box.

You’ll get a mini magazine each month as well. It’ll include more in-depth stories and interviews. This month, they included a very appropriate homage to the late Carrie Fisher.

They even threw in a little bonus Princess Leia pin.

K-2SO Rogue One Shirt – Value $15?

Still excited about Rogue One or going to see it again – now you can sport this awesome K-2SO shirt! It’s simple, but also packs in some movie detail into the graphic – it’s perfect.

K-2SO even gets represented on the back of the shirt, at the neckline.

HE-BOT Pin – Value $5-10?

It seems like this is now a permanent fixture of the box. This little robot is Geek Fuel’s mascot, and it makes an appearance as a different classic character each month. So far, we’ve seen Indiana Jones and R2-D2 – this month you’ll receive one of two pins:

He-Man or Skeletor!

I got He-Man – but I would’ve been happy with either one.

Green Arrow QFig – Value $15

You’ll receive one of a possible 4 QFigs featuring the DC Comics characters Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, The Flash, or Green Arrow.

I’m pretty lucky this month because I was able to get the one figure that I didn’t already own! So happy!

Rupee Soap – Value $15-20?

Geek Fuel has some of the best, most fun packaging out there – and they showcased it with this item!

geek-fuel-january-2016-0012

This chest opens up to reveal a card and the soap as your treasure:

These are three individual bars or soap – shaped to your favorite currency of Hyrule.

They’re thick and plastic wrapped for you swappers out there. I’m having a tough time describing the smell – but it definitely strong.

Ninja Pizza Girl Steam Game – Value $10

Finally, they will always include a Steam game. They’ve also been doing an excellent job of making sure the games they choose are supported by, at least Mac and PC, if not Linux as well.

I played this game for about 10 minutes and had a blast! The rules and execution are simple, but it’s challenging enough to have fun and get frustrated at the same time.

Verdict: At $23.90 a month, Geek Fuel will almost always come in over value with just the shirt and the game – that’s awesome! They’ve had great shirt designs lately and I’ve always liked trying the games out, so it’s nice to know I’ll be assured value every month – plus, the other stuff was also great this month! Especially the QFig – I’m still a sucker for a good statue/figure!

What do you think of the January 2017 Geek Fuel? Are you picking this box up?

  1. Love your reviews but Geek fuel customer service is the worst. They will not accept that there is a missing item with the Qfig – they should come with a dry erase marker that is described in the booklet. After no luck with the support – they just wanted to argue with me – I posted a warning on their Facebook page and they have since blocked me and removed the post. Stay away and try Nerd/Gamer/Sci Fi etc. blocks if you want excellent support, pricing and promotions.

  2. Kudos! on your tribute to Carrie Fisher, awesome job!

My tween daughter and I have been getting a Geek Fuel box for several months now and enjoy our present every month. I was her age when the first Star Wars movie came out and it was wonderful to share the movie with her. But it was even more important for her to see the impact the character, Princess Leia, had on the young women of our generation and your tribute beautifully showed that. In addition to the character you also honored the woman who brought her to life, Carrie Fisher. Well Done

Maybe a Women who Kick Ass should be a theme…. Princess Leia, Ripley, Danarius, Wonder Woman…

  3. I got The Flash. I really enjoy receiving Q-figs.

    I loved the T-shirt!

The tribute to Carrie Fisher made me cry but I also remember playing with my friends, in elementary school, and I was Leia. She was one of the first stronger female characters I saw a long long time ago. She was a brilliant, complicated woman who had to deal with people who were more concerned with her appearance than her mind or character. And she had to battle some tough demons. She was remarkable. I didn’t personally know her but I still miss her.

The only thing I didn’t like about this box were the soaps. The scents (through the box without even opening it) was do strong. It reminded me of old fashioned air spray. I had to just dump them. They were giving me a headache. Which is sad because I might have just used the ruppees as decoration.

  4. I’ve already ordered it without knowing what would be in it (this month was very light on spoilers), so no choice obviously, but not particularly thrilled with it after seeing it. The soap and the t-shirt I could live without and the game doesn’t look my type either. More happy about the pin, since I’m a compulsive collector and I already got #1 and 2. The figure is the biggest selling point for me this month, I just hope it’s not Mr. Freeze, I like the other 3 more.

  5. Yea Carrie Fisher!!!!
