Mt. Fuji Hoppe Chan - Value $3?
This month's Hoppe-Chan wears a Mt. Fuji and a mini Hoppe-Chan atop her head. The red Hoppe-Chan is supposed to represent the red sun going over the horizon.
Nekomimi Headband - Value $7?
This is a cat ear headband made of super soft fleece. It can be worn for fun or for function. I will use this for face masking!
The band itself is thick and stretchy, which allows for a very comfortable fit. Unlike some other headbands, this one doesn't give me a headache if worn for a long time.
Biscuit Pen - Value $2?
This is a chubby pen in the shape of a sandwich cookie. The ballpoint tip writes decently well, but I have a hard time getting a comfortable grip. It's adorable as a novelty pen, but it's not the most practical of writing utensils.
Relax Panda Hand Rest - Value $5?
This is a foam panda that acts as a hand or wrist rest. The panda looks so adorably silly!
I don't have computer-related wrist pain yet, but I know plenty of people who would appreciate a wrist support. I love that this is both a unique and practical item!
Macaron Case - Value $5?
This is plastic macaron that pops open into a storage case. It is slightly bigger than the size of my palm. I like that it is big enough to store bracelets and necklaces but also compact enough to fit in drawers or on vanity tables.
Julie: Shogatsu Edition - Value $8?
Julie is a cat from Doki Doki's toy line. This month she is dressed as a Daruma, a traditional Japanese wish-granting doll, to celebrate the new year. The plush is very soft, as are most Doki Doki plushes. She stands up on her own as well.
Doki Doki mentioned that this month the Higemanju Gamaguchi Coin Purse was held back by an in-depth U.S. Customs inspection. Because it was missing from the box, three candies were included as a replacement and an apology.
Fortune Candy
These are candy-coated strawberry chocolate candies. Each chocolate represents an area of your life, such as "health" or "future" or "friends," and symbols written on the inner side of the foil for each candy tell you your fortune in the new year. Everything was written in Japanese so I had a hard time distinguishing the words. However, I did have fun participating in a bit of Japanese new year activities.
Yogurt Candy
These are strawberry-flavored hard candies that contain probiotic yogurt to aid digestion. I totally like them for the flavor but it's great knowing they keep my stomach healthy too.
Genji Pie Cookies
These are palmiers, or elephant ear cookies, that taste delicious on their own or with hot tea or cocoa. They are covered in sugar crystals, which brings out the perfect amount of sweetness for me.
Verdict: I really like the variety of items this month. The headband is adorable, and the hand/wrist rest is such a unique and thoughtful item! My estimated total value is $30, and this is not counting the candies or the missing coin purse. Another way to look at it is like paying $5 per item (not including candy). Value wise it's a low month for me-- I can see myself paying $5 for maybe three or four items but not all six. I think the coin purse would definitely have increased the value, and I'm hoping that Doki Doki includes it in a future box. That said, I do appreciate that they included the snacks as a replacement.
