Degusta-Box-January-2017-Collateral

Degustabox always sends a full informational sheet with values, along with recipes and coupons.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Info-Sheet

Degustabox always includes an informational sheet with the values of each item listed on the sheet. I find that these values are accurate sometimes and not so accurate other times. One example this month is the Entenmann's Little Bites Party Cakes. The value on the info sheet is for a box of the party cakes (they do add a note at the bottom explaining this but it can be misleading), but subscribers only receive one bag. With that said, I still appreciate the info sheet and the descriptions included with the products!

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Aloe-Pancakes-Whisps

Alo Refresh Cucumber and Cantaloupe - Value $1.99

This Alo Refresh drink is fat-free, gluten-free, and free of artificial ingredients. It also has less sugar than the original Alo drinks. I enjoyed the flavor of this aloe vera drink, but I found that it was better cold!

Hungry Jack Pumpkin Spice Pancake & Waffle Mix - Value $3.99

I've been away traveling for the past three weeks, so I have very little food in my house. When I got home and found my Degustabox had pancake mix that required only water...I heard angels singing.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Pancakes

These were really simple to make - the pancakes only required water and a quick stir. The flavor was really great. Instead of just tasting like pumpkin spice, I could definitely taste the pumpkin too! I topped them with some fresh whipped cream and maple syrup and they were excellent.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Whisps

Cello Whisps - Parmesan Cheese Crisps - Listed Value $3.99

These cheese crisps are made with only parmesan cheese that has bene aged over 14 months. As soon as I opened the bag, I could smell the goodness! These were really good - way better than any chip I've tried lately. I would absolutely purchase these again!

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Fruit-Snacks

Welch's Fruit and Yogurt Snacks - Strawberry - Listed Value $2.99

These fruit snacks are low fat, gluten free, and include 100% of the daily recommended Vitamin C serving.

Go Organically Fruit Snacks - Value $3.99

These fruit snacks are GMO-free, gluten free, and preservative free. They are also nut-free and organic (obviously).

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Welches-Fruit-Snacks

The Welches Fruit and Yogurt snacks were definitely my favorite of the two - nice and chewy with the added creamy component of the yogurt. The Go Organically fruit snacks were good but I prefer other brands fruit snacks due to the texture.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Korma-Muffins-Popcorn

Entenmann's Little Bites Party Cakes - Value $0.60

These are mini funfetti cakes! I love funfetti cake - whether it is homemade, from a mix, or in little pre-made cakes. These were a great throwback to childhood - when I would eat Little Debbie Cakes for lunch every day!

Jolly Time Healthy Pop Butter Popcorn - Value $3.70

This popcorn only has 20 calories per cup - this is the perfect January snack. After the holidays and all the indulgence, I can definitely use a low-calorie snack. Popcorn isn't generally my favorite snack (I hate how it gets stuck in my teeth!) but this was great with some Northwoods Fire seasoning sprinkled on top!

McDonnells Indian Korma Curry Sauce - Listed Value $2.99

After a few weeks of eating pasta and pizza constantly on vacation, I was craving Indian food. I was really excited to see this pop up in my box this month.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Korma

I followed the recipe on the back of the package for chicken korma but substituted the chicken for sweet potatoes. I wish I would have chosen a regular potato here since the sweet potato was a little too sweet with the sauce. Chickpeas would be great here as well. The sauce definitely needed some heat added, so I added a pepper to the sauce and it came out perfect.

Degusta-Box-January-2017-Ginger-Banana-Split

Prince of Peace Instant Tea Ginger Honey Crystals - Value $2.75

During one of my moments of jet lag, I ripped open a package of this tea to try hoping that it would give me a little pick me up without caffeine. It worked quite well! The flavor was excellent and the tea was very easy to prepare.

Smart Kids Bar - Banana Split - Value $1.08

This snack bar is nut free, gluten free, soy free, non-GMO, and vegan. There are four flavor varieties subscribers could receive; I received the banana split flavor. I really enjoyed the flavor and the texture of this bar. I could see myself re-purchasing these.

Degusta-Box-January-2016-Seasoning

One & Done Seasoning - Bonus Item

This seasoning was thrown in as an extra this month as a thank you to survey respondents. This is a really nice seasoning blend that includes salt, garlic, onion, and paprika. I think this would be excellent on top of avocado toast or any place that salt is used in a savory dish!

Verdict: This month's Degustabox has a value of approximately $28.07. I really enjoyed all of the products this month, which was surprising. Usually, there's at least one thing I am not a fan of. My favorite item in the box definitely was the pancake mix - it has made breakfast this week really easy and delicious!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

My Parmesan crisps disappeared before I even got to taste them. I didn’t like the tea. But I pretty much liked everything else. I loved the Organic fruit snacks. To me the testure was perfect! Soft and not chewy.

I really like Degusta Box. It’s a fun way to try new foods.

Pros: Good value for the price.

Cons: five months in I’ve found the December and January boxes to be exceptionally carb/sugar ridden. Hoping for a change in February’s offerings or it may be my last.

The Aloe drink was super good with vodka. It would be a great summer mixer!

I hope the February box is better. This was my last favorite of the three I’ve received.

If I signed up now, would I get this box? Or a future one?

I’m guessing you’ll get the next box. I actually got the January box a few weeks ago (they come early in the month). When I signed up I got the next month’s and it sounds like that’s pretty consistent when other’s have signed up too. But you might be able to email them and ask.

This was my first box and I have already purchased the Parm crisps on Amazon. They are soooo good, what a surprise. I keep forgetting to drink the aloe drink that’s been in my fridge. I’m sticking with this and can’t wait until next shipment arrives. I’ve bought another box of the ginger tea too at Whole Foods, but I might be able to get them cheaper on Amazon. So glad to be turned on to new food items. The popcorn is actually pretty good too and I am very loyal orville shopper, I usually just buy the kernels and make myself, but lately i cant get enough of skinny popcorn.

Don’t be “alarmed” like I was in my first gulp that the Alo has actual aloe chunks in it. Hahaha. It is still good…I just wasn’t prepared for that. 🙂

I LOVE those parmesan crisps, I was able to find them at World Market after devouring my bag I got in LLB. Pepperoncini kettle chips have been my new discovery and they are AMAZING, I don’t even care for chips at all.
