The theme for this month is “Self Gratitude.” ZenBox by Jen sends a paper outlining the box items. I appreciate this information as it helps me know if anything is missing and how to find items I’d like to purchase again.

Yogi Ginger Tea - Value $0.61 (for 2 tea bags)

I’m a huge fan of Yogi tea and this ginger tea does not disappoint. Ginger is great for upset stomachs and it supports digestion.

Yogi Echinacea Immune Support Tea - Value $0.61 (for 2 tea bags)

There are a lot of flavors going on in this tea but I really loved it! I mostly tasted cinnamon with a slight sweetness and licorice flavor. I need more of this tea in my life.

Essential Oil Blend - Value $1.50?

This essential oil spray contains clove, vanilla, nutmeg, and ginger. It smells wonderfully holiday-ish.

Maple Pumpkin Seed KIND Bar - Value $0.72

We buy a lot of KIND bars for work and school but this is a new flavor for us. Everyone loved this bar!

Epsom Salts - Value $0.75?

Epsom salts are great for aches and pains in the body. ZenBox by Jen suggests combining the essential oil blend with the salts for an even better soak.

Gratitude Exercise

I love this idea. It’s simple and sweet and for me, it's activities like this that make ZenBox by Jen endearing and valuable.

Pawanmuktasana Yoga Card

I’m guessing the gas and bloating yoga is for after that huge Thanksgiving meal. Thanks, Jen!

Raw Amber Crystals Stones and Information - Value $1.00?

These amber crystals are used for “shielding ourselves from negative energy.” We spend a lot of time around family and friends during the holidays. I’m going to keep these crystals close to see if they help! I love that the story behind amber was included with the crystals too.

Verdict: I think ZenBox by Jen is a delightful box full of heart and love! I appreciate that Jen is trying to help others bring self-care and calm into their lives. On the ZenBox by Jen website, Jen writes about her personal struggles and how essential oils, teas, and regular meditation have helped her. I imagine it isn’t easy to keep some of these smaller subscription boxes running. I’ve sampled several different ones now and I’d much rather have some homemade interesting items then cheap, bulk items. It’s really hard to price a box like this due to handmade items but the $22.50 cost, which includes shipping, definitely seems fair for what received.

Hello all, Jen here! I appreciate each and every review! Unfortunately, the value costs listed in this review are way off, therefore making the items seem cheap. I use only the highest quality, 100% pure essential oils, which can be very pricey. Pure, raw crystals are also expensive, assuring that they are top quality. I would never rip anybody off, but I really do appreciate the feedback, even the negative! I make changes as I go, so thank you to all who took the time to respond! I will take everyone’s advice into consideration going forward. Sending you all positive vibes

While I can appreciate varying points of view on this box (and my review), I think it’s important to keep in mind everyone has his/her own perspective. I certainly take my reviews seriously and I have no bias toward Zen Box for Jen – don’t know her (them?) or owe her in any way. My verdict is based on my experience in receiving this box and many others. I typically divide my subs into 2 categories – 1. a good value (I get a good bang for my buck) or 2. a good experience (I enjoy the box and contents). Zen Box by Jen is definitely in the second category for me. It’s hard to explain (and clearly personal but hey, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it) but when I open this box I get the feeling that someone has put a lot of thought into it and the contents, activities, etc. and I feel good (or have fun, whatever you choose…) when I use the items/activities. Clearly this is a very personal experience but I actually bought this box and sent it to a friend that was going through some personal troubles.

There’s nothing homemade or interesting about Yogi tea bags and a Kind bar. This box is a ripoff.

It just doesn’t seem worth it. I agree.

I’d have to say that while I appreciate the sentiment, there is so much more that could’ve gone into this box that would’ve made it worthwhile. As a person that has some experience in that field there are several other items that could’ve easily made it worth the cost without breaking the company making the boxes. But it was a sweet thought.

I understand that smaller boxes have more costs for shipping and usually charge a bit more for curation, but the price/value spread here seems a bit extreme (even when compared to other smaller boxes or boxes that you pay more for curation).

I’m having a difficult time taking this review seriously. Thoughtful or not, sending $6.50 worth of items for a $22.50 (with subscription) or $25.00 for one time is unethical. Perhaps instead of having a subscription box, this individual should stick to having a blog where they make suggestions on what people should use to get through hardships or find their “zen”. Income can be easily generated through internet traffic and advertisement. I understand that smaller companies struggle to compete to stay relevant, but overcharging customers almost $20 dollars for the materials you are sending out is despicable no matter how you try to justify it. This looks like mostly items she found in Whole Foods and then divided amongst her subscribers.

Agreed. Anyone with an interest in this type of thing already knows where to get the items cheaply or the information on the internet. The price is exorbitant for what it provided. Blatant ripoffs do not make the world a better place.

Full-heartedly agree. There is absolutely nothing “fair” about paying over $20 to receive what was reviewed above. I think the curator of the box is using her “personal hardships” to elicit sympathy while attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of her unsuspecting customers with her shady business practices. Its unforgivable.

Seems like a nice box
