Taster's Club is a subscription that sends a new bottle of “must have” liquor to your door every month. When you sign up for a subscription, you decide what kind of alcohol you’d like to receive.

The Subscription Box: Taster's Club
The Cost: $79 per month + shipping for the Scotch Club (Shipping to DC was an additional $15.) Note that the price differs between clubs.
The Products: A different bottle of liquor every month. (My shipments feature Scotch because I joined the “Scotch Club.”)
A note about shipping: Taster's Club does not list the US states to which they ship on their website. Most alcohol subscription companies are unable to ship to all 50 states due to alcohol shipping restrictions, so I’m uncertain whether Taster's Club is able to ship nationwide or not.

Taster’s Club shipments are accompanied by supplemental information that’s sent out via email. I usually receive it within a few days of my monthly shipment.
Wolfburn Aurora - Value $50.16
Wolfburn is mainland Scotland’s northernmost distillery, and it’s brand new— its first single malt was released in March of this year! (The Aurora was released in late 2016.)
This whisky was aged in a combination of casks: 40% was aged in second-fill quarter casks, 40% in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, and 20% in first-fill Oloroso Sherry hogsheads.
I think it’s exciting that Taster’s Club decided to include a product from a brand new distillery!
Wolfburn’s Aurora is fairly light in color, and it has a nutty, sweet aroma. The taste is a little raisiny and a little smoky, but I’m sorry to say that I’m not really a big fan. For me, this whisky is a little thin and one-note. To be fair, this is a very young whisky, so it’s not appropriate to expect the same dynamic, full-bodied taste that’s common in older whisky. Still, I wouldn’t seek it out again, and I’ll probably use this bottle in cocktails or cooking. I’m glad that I got to try a release from a brand new distillery, but I think I’ll wait a few years to give the producer some time to release older offerings before seeking out whisky from Wolfburn again.
Verdict: Taster's Club has been focused on new and lesser-known distilleries lately, which I’ve enjoyed. Even though I didn’t love this particular bottle, I still enjoyed giving it a try. I’ve been subscribing to Taster’s Club for quite awhile now, and I do have to point out that this is not a high value (or even a break even) subscription. That said, I do think it’s a fun way to discover new whiskies, and I think it would be a welcome gift for a whisky-loving friend.
