Every month, Mitten Crate includes a card with information about all the brands and artisans they feature in that month’s box. Being from Michigan myself, it’s so much fun to find out about these businesses that are right near me!

Cooper Street Cookies, Oatmeal Raisin – 9 oz, value: $4.99

These cookies are pretty good! They are all natural and dairy- and nut-free. The cookies are cut into long strips – at first, I thought it was some kind of biscotti. These are very crunchy but the flavor is really nice! They're not my favorite Oatmeal Raisin cookies ever but definitely tasty, especially for being dairy-free.

Pop Daddy Premium Kettle Corn – value: $5

This popcorn was consumed pretty much immediately. It was so good! I love kettle corn and this popcorn had such a great combination of sweet and salty. Delicious.

The Detroit Marshmallow Co. Pumpkin 5-Spice Marshmallows – 2.5 oz, value: $5

I love all things marshmallow… in fact, assorted gourmet marshmallows were my favors at my wedding! These square marshmallows were a nice size each (I could only fit 2-3 in the top of my mug). I liked the flavor but the texture didn’t seem as… gooey (?) as I would want from a marshmallow. It seemed maybe just a little gritty, I think. It’s hard to explain, but I know I’d still love to try more from them. I’ll have to go visit their store sometime!

Detroit Jerk Seasoning – 2 oz, value: $5.66

I haven’t tried this seasoning just yet, but I’m excited to. I don’t have any jerk seasoning in my cabinets yet and I tend to get bored with food in the winter so I know I’ll play with this before too long! Their website says to mix this with olive oil and lime juice for a great rub on chicken, pork, shrimp, or fish.

Fresh Coast Chocolate Co. Hot Cocoa Mix – 1 oz, value: $0.75

This cocoa is a vegan-friendly mix made with Peruvian cocoa and Dominican ground chocolate. I mixed this with hot whole milk and it was really good! I’m much more of a dark, dark chocolate person but this was still a nice evening treat while my husband and I curled up watching Netflix.

Benjamin Twiggs Chocolate Covered Dried Tart Cherries – 2.5 oz, value: $3.50

These were yummy. They’re almost gone, actually. The chocolate and the tart cherries balance each other out really well and these aren’t chewy or get stuck in your teeth. They’re rich and a couple pieces make a good sweet treat without being too indulgent.

Verdict: I enjoyed this November Mitten Crate – it felt like a great winter box.The value comes out to $25.50, which is one of the lower values I’ve received out of this box. I’m generally not as concerned about the value with this box, but the value usually either breaks even and I know curation does play a part in the value, but I don’t know if I can justify curation as a $10 difference (30% of the cost of the box). This may also be somewhat influenced by the fact that I do live in Michigan… If I want to discover more little MI brands myself I could go to another city’s farmer’s market, but for those who don’t live in Michigan and don’t have that option, curation may be worth more to them, but I still don’t think it would make up the difference here.

I do love Mitten Crate and the fact that they’ve exposed me to some of my favorite snacks of all time. I always enjoy experiencing my crates but I am always rooting for a little higher-value, and always hopefully looking forward to next months’ boxes. Hopefully, this is a dip and from here on out they’ll deliver some more items/higher value.

I had to laugh, the hot cocoa says it is Vegan and then to add to hot milk!

I’d never heard of Mitten Crate until reading your review, and I live in Michigan! AND work for Pure Michigan! Naturally I had to subscribe immediately. I’m excited to get my December box!

I live right by the Marshmallow Company and didn’t even know they were there. After looking it up its tiny, but now I’m curious to stop and see what they have.
