Love with Food is a monthly snack and food sampling subscription box. They send only natural and organic snacks and donate a meal to charity for each box sold. They offer a smaller “tasting” box with 8+ snacks per month, a “deluxe” box with 16-20 snacks per month, and a gluten free box with 10-15 gluten free snacks per month.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The box came with this information card, which basically directs you to their website. I have to admit, I liked the old brochures more – you could instantly tell which snacks were vegan, gluten free, etc. Now you have to read the tiny print of the ingredients lists, instead.
There are also usually some coupons for the included products and/or some product literature.
Bark Thins Snacking Chocolate in Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt (2 oz) – Value $2.42
This is a repeat from last year and I don’t even care. I love chocolate. I manage to refrain from grabbing these in the checkout line at Target, but I figure it is OK to indulge a little every now and then.
Baron Chocolatier Premium Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark (3.5 oz) – Value $1.99
This was an excellent combination. I am all about chocolate and peppermint this year. Plus, the squares inside were little so you could have a treat but also not go overboard with the calories.
Lucy’s Ginger Snaps (1.25 oz) – Value $1.73
I am not usually a fan of hard cookies. These did not have my favorite texture ever, but they were better than many hard cookies I’ve had, which is especially impressive because they’re also gluten free. These had a little spicy kick to them that I enjoyed.
Authentic Italian Pasta Chips in Rosemary (1 oz) – Value $0.59
Pasta Chips are a subscription box staple. They’re made from semolina flour, the same type of wheat used to make pasta, hence the name. These are kosher and non-GMO if either of those is of concern to you. These did not need any kind of dip. (This flavor is not yet for sale in their shop but all the others are priced the same.)
Off the Cob Chips in Sweet Corn and Sea Salt (1 oz x 2) – Total Value $1.36
These are pretty standard tortilla chips. I ate them plain but I think they would be better with some salsa or cheese dip or something like that.
Sanissimo Salmas Oven Baked Corn Crackers (0.63 oz x 2) – Value $1.50?
These are a lot like corn chips in terms of flavor and texture, but they’re a little sturdier. I think they would be excellent at standing up to 7-layer dip. I can’t find this product for sale online anywhere so the value is an estimate.
Luna Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Bars (0.78 oz x 2) – Total Value $1.02
Luna bars are a Love with Food staple. These were mostly soy crisps, so they had something of the texture of Rice Krispie treats (only not as sticky, and with no marshmallows so they were vegetarian). They tasted pretty good to me, which, with Luna bars, means they were likely high in sugar.
Horizon Organic Fruit Snacks in Bunch o’ Berries (0.8 oz) – Value $0.79
I don’t often eat such things but these were gelatin-free so I tried them. They were pretty sugary but the portion size is also controlled with this package.
NibMor Daily Dose of Dark (0.35 oz) – Value $0.62
Usually, there are a few small hard candies or chews. This month we got a chocolate square. I am not at all upset about that.
Gogo Squeez Yogurtz in Banana (3 oz) – Value $1.19
I just can’t get on board with room-temperature yogurt snacks or with banana yogurt so this was not a hit with me. But I know some people whose kids like these and not every subscriber is going to love 100% of the box.
Horizon Organic Cheddar Cheesy Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese (10 oz) – Value $4.59
Not going to lie, this is the most exciting thing in the box for me. I have been on a diet this year and have lost 45 pounds (I’m finally done losing weight). I’ve been very strict about counting calories and I haven’t had macaroni and cheese since last year. But macaroni and cheese (even the boxed kind) is one of my favorite foods ever. Anyway, my husband is going out of town for a few days later in the month and this is going to be part of my dinner (he does not share my enthusiasm for boxed macaroni and cheese). This is nearly as exciting for me as the Reese’s Peanut Butter Tree I ate last weekend. (For the record, I am still counting calories. I just can eat more of them now that I’m not trying to lose weight any longer.)
Verdict: I calculated a value of $17.80 for the December 2016 Love with Food Deluxe Box. That’s a little better than the past couple of months but not quite equal to the cost of the box. However, Love with Food has all kinds of deals on long-term subscriptions that make this a better buy, plus, don’t forget you can review your snacks for points that you can redeem for free items in their shop. (I just got $40 worth of xylitol mints last month, and they are starting to carry some regular pantry items now.) I particularly loved the chocolate and getting macaroni and cheese and overall, I thought this was a strong month.
What do you think of the December 2016 Love with Food Deluxe Box? What’s your favorite snack subscription?
