Sword Art Online Progressive Vol. 1 - Value $11.09 on Amazon (retail price $13.00)
Sword Art Online is a virtual reality MMORPG world where all the players who logged into the game became trapped inside with no way to get back to reality. The original young adult light novel has spawned anime and manga adaptations to huge success. Sword Art Online Progressive is a retelling from the point of view of Asuna, the other protagonist of the series. This one has a limited-edition cover art exclusive to Loot Anime. It's a little difficult to capture the beautiful reflective silver color!
Here is the summary from the back cover:
"Yuuki Asuna was a top student who spent her days at cram school and preparing for her high school entrance exams–but that was before she borrowed her brother’s virtual reality game system and wound up trapped in Sword Art Online with ten thousand other frightened players. As time passes, Asuna fears what will become of her life outside the fantasy realm–the failure she might seem in the eyes of her peers and parents. Unwilling to wait on the sidelines for more experienced gamers to beat the game, Asuna employs her study habits to learn the mechanics of game–and swordplay. Her swiftness impresses Kirito, a pro gamer who invites Asuna to join the best players on the front lines. Is Asuna ready to swap class rankings for player rankings and join Kirito?"
Berserk Sword Letter Opener - Value $15-20?
A letter opener is something that I would love to have around but can't justify purchasing on my own. Therefore, I'm so happy to receive this beautiful piece! This is modeled after Guts' sword in Berserk. This is a shiny, weighty piece with a handle wrapped in fabric and gunmetal blade with intentionally chipped edges. The details are fantastic. What makes it even cooler is that the Loot Anime box can be cut and shaped into a sword stand!
Instructions are not clear at all-- there were only three images to base the assembly off of! However, my frustration and struggles were ultimately worth it. I love the cardboard swords that decorate the foreground.
Here's the letter opener on its stand! It leans delicately on the cardboard swords. This whole thing is definitely worthy of showcasing in a home.
Yume BLADE Charm - Value $2?
This is the monthly charm. Yume, Loot Anime's mascot, is seen here wielding her own blade.
Gintama Wall Scroll - Value $12?
Gintama is an alien sci-fi slash period drama slash comedy series that centers around freelance samurai Gintoki Sataka. The scroll measures 8 by 24 inches. While this is not something I would hang on my wall, I wouldn't mind seeing more cool wall scrolls in subscription boxes.
Bleach Lounge Pants - Value 20?
This is definitely the big ticket item of the box. These lounge pants are 100% cotton and even have pockets! The design features Ichigo, the main character in Bleach, in his Soul Reaper getup.
While the fabric is a little thin, it feels super soft and comfortable. My boyfriend is typically super picky about his clothes so I was thrilled when he loved these pants. The length of a size M fits him well (he is 5'10").
Verdict: November's Loot Anime was superb. I liked all the featured anime/manga; this box had all the mainstream titles that I think many would recognize. Plus, the lounge pants are one of my boyfriend's all-time favorite subscription box items! I estimate the total value is around $60, which is twice the cost of the subscription.
