The theme for the upcoming GlobeIn January 2017 Box is… Love!

unnamed

Dearest friends,

This is the love box. Love is a box. Love is a box you are holding, a box you are opening. Love is an opening, a holding, is you. Love is a piece of chocolate broken off, a pile of sand blown into glass. Love is a wine, a quiet toast.

Love is a thoughtfully set table, a word of affirmation whispered softly to the self. Love is a napkin on the lap. Love is a woven bowl ready to be filled. Love is already.

In Kenya, the Caribbean, Mexico, and India, love is global and local at once. Love is an always bazaar, handmade and open to all, touching down wherever you are.

Warmly,
Genna
Artisan Box Curator

The term “Spoilers” has taken a whole new meaning, we now get to see what we should be getting but won’t be getting. No Love for me. Yes, saw the first Love spoiler, was excited about it only to find out that Globein has spoiled it for me. They did not handle this very well. Disappointed . What? no spoilers for the Memory Box, oh yeah, been there done that. Re-run.

Jan will be the 3rd month of ac 3 month subscription and it has me getting the Entertainment box with no option for the Love box. I have sent them an email that I do not want the entertainment box or any of the other ones they offered. I would accept the Kitchen box but if not then I will be cancelling this sub.

Ronnie

So, when I saw this yesterday I logged in and saw I was scheduled to get “Memory” and “Love” wasn’t an option. I was upset but didn’t have time to contact them. When I checked today though, it’s showing “Love”! I wonder if they had a programming issue because of the lack of availability for newer subscribers and the January option selection went live a week early before Love was even coded in or something? Especially given that it seems like practically *everyone* was getting a different box, I’m thinking its something like that

I logged in yesterday and was set to receive Entertain. I logged in today and it is still the same. Not happy. I sent a note to customer service but I assume I will receive the same response as others have received. I am cool with shortages and issues like that as they are working with Artisans, I am just not cool with the lack of communication from them and their choosing to spend my money on something I did not approve of ahead of time. If the advertised box isn’t available, no worries, just email me and tell me what my options are and try to make it right. I am cool with that. It is the shady non-communicative business practices that I am not okay with and will make sure is known. I love Globein and want to support them. However, if they treat their customers in this way, it makes me wonder how they treat the Artisans they employ. I won’t support a company with shady business practices in any area of the deal. Just my two cents worth…

Does anyone know if you can cancel in the middle of a prepaid and get your money back? I have had numerous issues and no longer want my last box (which will not be Love, apparently). I have an email in with customer service, but I wasn’t sure if anyone had tried to cancel with a remaining box before.

Yes, you can and I did. They will credit back your card for the remainder of your subscription. It took me several emails, though.

Letter to GlobeIn:

I now understand that contrary to GlobeIn’s statement that new subscribers (those who sign up Jan 1-15th) might not be able to chooose the Love Box, many long time subscribers won’t be able to, as well.

This certainly saddens me, as GlobeIn sent out a spoiler for the January Box leading its loyal subscribers to believe that they will receive an item they most likely will not.

If this is indeed the case, please cancel my January box.

As a long time GlobeIn subscriber, I was very excited when I saw the spoiler for the January box. However, my elatement soon turned to disappoinment once I logged into my account and saw that the advertised box wasn’t even an option for my account.

I don’t want to be sent a box of products I’ve already received. If the Love box is not available, I’d prefer to skip January altogether.

I sincerely hope that GlobeIn will stop accepting new subscribers immediately.
Continuing to do so under the current circumstances shows a serious lack of integrity on the company’s behalf, as well as a total lack of respect for the artists GlobeIn represents and the loyal customers who support these artists’ work.

Great reply! I cancelled last month because of the issues they’re having. They should take care of current subscribers and ensure that they get enough product for loyal customers first.

Can someone tell me when they received an email about low availability on the Love box?

I don’t think I got a notification at all. Checked my account today and I’ve “selected” the pamper box as the substitute.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I double checked and I did not receive a notification. It seems that they are interested in attracting new customers but are not equally interested in retaining current subscribers. Good luck getting those new customers because you just lost a customer after only 1 month.

Reply ButtonReply

Traci

The only emails that were sent out were in response to emails sent to them. At this point they haven’t made it known to all their subscribers.

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

Oh, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

That is just… awesome. Maybe they’re hoping if they send the notification out later it’ll give customers less chance to skip January?

marie

“Sold Out” really isn’t the right phrase when they never had enough for even the subscribers they already have. “Winning the Lottery” is more like it, lol.

monah

Their announcement makes it seem as though new subscribers will be the ones who may not be able to *choose* the Love box. Apparently this is true for long time subscribers as well. I hear the term bait and switch used incorrectly so many times in blog posts. But if there was ever a situation where it really is bait and switch, this is it.

Donna

I though January 1-5 was when we make our choices. I’m a subscriber and no “love” for me. E-mailed questions. No questions answered but received the same form letter (immediately) that others spoke of. Such a disappointment. I thought only new subscribers might not get this option, not most subscribers won’t feel the love. Sigh…

Sally

I am a long term subscriber & I am getting the love box.

Cindy

How can they even advertise them when the current subscribers are not even receiving them? What a horrid business practice! Skipping the month. Would have loved these so much more than the chunky pottery they usually send.

If these show up in their store as an add on, I think there should be a revolt!

Reply ButtonReply

Amy S.

I’ve had it with this subscription. So many issues and now this. Tired of seeing bloggers receive free boxes with the items paid subscribers should be getting. False advertising and poor business practice.

Reply ButtonReply

marie

I totally agree, too. We already paid for this box in our renewal fees! And now we won’t get it?!

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

Totally agree!!

Reply ButtonReply

Deborah

I had read their disclaimer to mean *new* subscribers couldn’t be guaranteed the Love box, which I found understandable. Now, seeing that so many current/yearly subscribers (me included) aren’t getting it, I really am disappointed in how this is being handled. I’ve already received the older boxes that I wanted, so it’s a skip month for me!

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

Also not getting the Love box. Last month was underwhelming and now this. I will likely skip this month and hope next month they are back on their game before cancelling. Very disappointing

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

I won’t get the Love box either. This comes on the heels of numerous disappointments with GlobeIn:

Problems with receiving low quality ( ungiftable) items including 2 covered wooden bowls, small cutting board, and broken spoon rest. Although I appreciated GlobeIn sending replacements for those items, even in the end the replacements for the 3 wooden items were so low quality (one cracked, lids didn’t fit bowls, and all looked like a 10 year old made them!) I was not comfortable gifting them. I’ve literally never seen such low quality items as these being offered anywhere!

2. An order of several other items I placed over 3 weeks before I was to leave for the holidays was not delivered in time for me to take with me and thus I had to scramble to find new presents at the last minute. This was inexcusable.

While I highly support their overall goals, I think I’ve had enough.

Reply ButtonReply

Kate

I know! What was the deal with the lids not fitting any of the wooden bowls? the lid edges were way too big and the inner lip certainly didn’t fit inside the bowls. Plus the wood was different colors. They sent me a replacement for one of my bowls -I had also bought a second one- and it was even worse. I just gave up.

Reply ButtonReply

marie

Those bowls were terrible. I had the exact same issue, different color/warped lid. I left a review on the site, but the others were glowing, so I thought I got an anomaly.

Debra

Well wow. I cannot imagine that a good business would have allowed this to happen, that CURRENT subscribers won’t even get this item. How can this be put out as a “spoiler” when it appears the item is not available??

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

For everyone who is already subscribed and a past box is displayed can you choose another box? A week ago I logged in and it said the comfort box for January, so I chose another box and the January love box came up. Hopefully this helps.

Reply ButtonReply

KKH

No, many of us have not been given that option. The form letter I received states it is because they “sold out”, claiming this is due to a “huge increase” over the holidays in new subscribers, and this is actually “great news.” Even though we are old subscribers, and probably sent them these new subscribers through gifts over the holidays. Evidently new subscribers are more important to Globein than their existing customer base.

Reply ButtonReply

Elle Em

For the record, I am a new subscriber and did not have the Love box option, either.

With that said, I feel for you long-time subscribers who are not being prioritized. 🙁 That would really upset me, too.

KKH

Jen, there are many of us who have not been given the option for the love box. When we have inquired we are told that they “sold out” and we can skip the month if we don’t want a repeat. Our form letter indicates this is because they have so many new subscribers which they claim is great news – however, I (along with many others) are not new subscribers, we are ongoing and long-term subscribers.

I’m not sure why they are advertising this as a spoiler since long time subscribers aren’t even able to get this box, it seems very misleading to advertise something that is sold out. I contacted customer service requesting to skip this month since I was given the “Pamper” box as my selection. I also inquired as to why they would have a box knowing that they did not have enough for current subscribers. I received a form answer that did not address my issue, offered no apology, or solution (i.e., the love box will be available in February, or we are working to acquire more items and will have the love box available to purchase as a separate box later in the month) so I immediately cancelled my subscription. I had a pre-paid membership and spent $300 on add-ons with my December box. I love the concept of Globe In and I feel bad writing this, but with the issues with not communicating with their customers, as well as advertising something that is not available to new subscribers…their notice says it might not be available for subscribers between now and January 15th…that is very dishonest, it is 100% not available, I feel like they do not care about maintaining a relationship with current subscribers but that the company is driven by getting as many new subscribers as possible.

Reply ButtonReply

marie

I cancelled my subscription, too. It’s been a few business days and it has yet to post to my credit card. Sigh. This shouldn’t be this stressful. It really feels as if these girls don’t have any clue what they’re doing.

Reply ButtonReply

Deborah

I have contacted the owner [email protected] and [email protected] when I got the smelly boxes and offered to mail them back. Liza got right back to me and gave me a 35.00 refund for the boxes and the stationary, 2 sets each. At least it was something. She told me to dump them, not mail them back. I hope this helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

Another subscriber here not getting Love. If you write them they just send a form letter back. They really seem to not care.

No follow up when Ive brought up November items smelling so strongly musty they were unusable (including the extra boxes I bought that month for another 15$), the december item switch and now a whole basket switch. They’re going downhill quickly.

Nice spoiler for the 5 people who get them.

Reply ButtonReply

Hildol

It really feels so wrong that they (1) didn’t have enough inventory for current subscribers and apparently from their emailed letter on the forum, they are giving them to all their new December subscribers and not their long term ones and (2) Automatically switching subscribers to another box, one you didn’t order or select personally. It feels so wrong. Not stealing, but wrong in the same way as they are taking your money and not giving or alerting customers via email that you are receiving something else. They did this to me twice in my three months. Month 1, received a different box from what I ordered. When I reached out, they said they sold out and decided to give me this one (well I already had it from swapping and didn’t want an extra hydrate box). I reached out and told that I prefer communication and it wasn’t right to switch my order without communication and my acceptance or allow me to skip. They thanked me for my feedback. I asked them for a return label and sent it back. Second month (fine) only because when I realized they SWITCHED me again to a different theme, but I wanted the together basket with the bread basket badly, and they told me they were sold out, I pointed out that they were STILL selling these items in their store. SO they made a box for me with a shorty basket (one without a lid :() and sent it to me. Third month – stinky boxes, horrible moldy cards. So I cancelled. Did they respond to me, Yes, BUT was subscribing to them a fun experience, NO. And this is supposed to be fun. I was really looking to be a long term subber but with what feels like bait and switch, no communications in regards to them sw2itching what you ordered with something that they “feel like” sending instead just simply doesn’t work for me. Would have loved the love box. Too bad only a handful will be receiving it. Per their letter, if they had high demand for it, they would order more in. Too bad making their existing customer base happy isn’t in high demand.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I am a new subscriber and not feeling the “Love” from GlobeIn. Don’t advertise a spoiler if everyone is not going to have access to it.

I ordered a product for a Christmas gift and the color was not even remotely the same as what was advertised on their website. I went around and around with them and they refunded me for the product.

I detest false advertising. Do they really think people cannot read between the lines – “this is great news for us but it sucks to be you?!?” Not renewing my 3 month sub.

Elle Em

I am a new December subscriber and I am not getting the Love box. It was never an option on my account.

KKH

This sounds like my experience. It’s so strange how Globein just sneaks in these substitutions, like maybe we won’t notice! I ordered the colorful towel from their online store, and received a completely different towel (with some taupe design) and when I complained, they said they had sold out so they just sent me another towel. They refunded part of my money, which took some of the sting out of it, but I didn’t get what I ordered and ended up with something I wouldn’t have paid for in the first place. There appears to be no respect or loyalty to their subscribers, and a general lack of integrity.

Kate

I cancelled GlobeIn after a couple of bad experiences, and switched to Elevita and love it!! I have gotten 4 months from them and each one of them has been beautiful and not a single problem. Highly recommend Elevita.

Jackie

And of course the bloggers will receive this box… ugh

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

Yep that’s what’s maddening. Of course the wine glasses are gorgeous and like no one will receive them but the bloggers who get the boxes for free.

Reply ButtonReply

Kathleen

GlobeIn should not be using the Love box to entice people to subscribe since they don’t even have enough boxes for their current subscribers. A lot of people are going to be very disappointed when they don’t receive what they’re expecting.

Reply ButtonReply

Elle Em

As a new GlobeIn subscriber, I totally agree and feel for you long-time subscribers. 🙁

This is also making me wonder if I will regret my decision to subscribe. I really enjoyed the Comfort box (my first), but am already skipping my second box due to the Love box availability. Or should I say “unavailability”?

This is also just me being nitpicky, but something I noticed as a new subscriber:
I made sure to immediately designate my least preferred color in my Subscription Preferences as PINK when I signed up, but I have already received 2 pink items – one was the palm leaf pouch for the LE jewelry box (maybe pink was the only color offered?), and another was a Tigre Handwoven Basket that I specifically ordered in RED to use as a gift container for the holidays. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

Thats funny about the baskets. Pink is my preferred color and purple is the one I asked not to get and Ive received 3 purple baskets since entering that preference.

Sheila

I wrote to Liza saying you should know how subscribers feel and are you going to give the same canned response to the debacle and calling them out for FALSE advertising they are continuing to entice with the love box knowing it’s NOT available buy hiding behind the limited availability statement….there’s NONE available!!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

Agreed 110% !!!

Reply ButtonReply

KKH

As Traci Rhein said, even as a current subscriber I also found out I am not getting the “love” box after inquiring. I was told that they did not order enough to meet demands. I would not have known if I hadn’t been reading the forum on MSA. Subscribers can choose to skip the month of January instead of receiving a repeat box. I’ve had a number of problems with Globein lately with similar issues.

Sam

But of course Bloggers will receive them (sigh)…
