The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box

The Cost: $25 (new price) Save with longer subscriptions

Good to Know: A week or two before the box ships out, you will get an e-mail allowing you to choose three items from among lipsticks, lip glosses, mascaras, loose powder pigments, and glitters.  Be on the lookout for this and be sure to respond in a timely manner as the box will be much more customized to your taste if you do.  (They may substitute if something is out of stock, but the substitutions they have chosen are really super close to what I originally picked, so I am happy.)  This email doesn’t come at a consistent time every month, though.

The Products: 3 Glamorous Chicks beauty products of your choice, including loose mineral pigments, liquid lipsticks, loose glitter, and more, as well as a few extras (sometimes from other brands). Occasionally there may be products from up-and-coming brands, as well.

Ships to: US (free)

Sometimes you’ll get a card with a coupon code and images of some of the Glamorous Chicks lipstick colors, but this month there wasn’t one.

Shimmer Powder in Venus (2.35 g) – Value $14.95

Shimmer Powder in Crème de Violet (2.35 g) – Value $14.95

Every month, you get to select three items from among the Glamorous Chicks lipsticks, shimmer powders (basically loose eyeshadows), and glitter. These are two of the items I selected for the month. No particular reason other than that I was feeling these colors on the day I got the selection email (and trying to avoid colors I already have).  Swatches below.

Matte Lipstick in Red Martini (full size) – Value $14.99

This is not exactly the color I thought it would be when looking at it online, but it is also not nearly as dark as the above photo would have you believe. The swatch at the bottom of the review is accurate, though, and I like the color it turned out to be. The lipsticks from Glamorous Chicks have been a pleasant surprise – the pigment lasts a very long time and they don’t dry out my lips.  (So, this month I opted for a color I felt comfortable wearing to work!)

Protools Brow Sculpt Stencils (3 pack, made in Korea) – Value $9.99

Brows are one of the last makeup frontiers I need to explore. I have just never bothered to do mine before and I kind of stink at it. These should help (and be much better than freehand!).

Absolute! Make-Up Cleansing Tissues with Vitamin C Extract (10 ct) – Value $1

I received this item last month as well.  Sometimes with the bonus items, you will get duplicate items from month to month, but these are useful.  Plus, I love skincare with antioxidants like vitamin C in it.

Plum Wine Waterproof Gel Lip Liner (0.04 oz, made in Germany) – Value $13.99

First off, this is a lovely match for the lipstick I requested this month.  Just perfect (swatches below). It goes on smoothly and it really does help control feathering and migration.

Surprisingly, I was able to find this online, despite the lack of a brand name. It is from a European private label cosmetics company. This is paraben free, gluten-free, and cruelty-free. I guess Glamorous Chicks has decided to start offering these lip liners on their site. I am cool with the private labeling since the product is from Europe.

Here are swatches of, from top to bottom, the shimmer poweder in Venus, the shimmer powder in Crème de Violet, the lip liner, and the lipstick. Note: there is not glitter in the lipstick, that’s stray glitter from the shimmer powders.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $69.87 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box.  This is a really good value – almost three times the cost of the box – especially if you would normally buy products from their shop anyway. This is the second month in a row that the value has been this good (it’s always been better than the cost of the box) and I’ve got my fingers crossed for more. I like the formulas of the lipsticks and eyeshadows a lot, and they have some colors that are hard to find elsewhere.

Also, for what it’s worth, they’ve changed their subscription site and it loads a lot faster now!

I’d be a lot happier to see some ingredients & I don’t see them anywhere on the website. They call them mineral eyeshadows which usually have a base and you’re calling them shimmer powers which don’t. Also are the products made by them or are they stock micas from a warehouse designed to be used mainly as glitter?
