The box came with this full-color brochure featuring more information about the items and brands included in the box.

This adds so much to the subscription for me – it’s great to read the stories and inspirations behind each product in the box.

Now, onto the items!

Tribe Alive Scarf – Value $78

Already, we’re above the cost of the box!

causebox-winter-2016-0022

This handwoven scarf is made in India from 100% cotton. I love the muted grey and navy colors, and the tassels are a unique touch!

Here it is on:

This is a big scarf, (78 3/4″L x 35 1/2″W), so you can wear it a lot of different ways, and it’s lightweight enough to work as a wrap in the summer, too.

Parker Clay Clutch – Value $100?

This clutch was made exclusively for CAUSEBOX by Parker Clay, and the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship in the construction are excellent. (I also recommend reading the conversation Matt (co-founder of CAUSEBOX) and Ian (co-founder of Parker Clay) have in the booklet – it gives, even more, meaning to this clutch.)

This clutch measures approximately 5 by 8 inches and can fit my phone, cash/cards, lip balm, etc. It also has one card slot inside:

Here it is in my hand to give you a better sense of scale:

I love minimal design, and my wardrobe is about 85% black, so this is a perfect piece for me!

L’Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream – 1 oz Value $12

This is such a classic beauty staple and I think one of the first products I ever sampled from L’Occitane! This is a rich hand cream that absorbs pretty quickly. Plus, a little goes a long way, so this small tube should probably last me a month or so!

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish in L.A. Smog – Value $18

I’ve sampled this brand before and I really like their formula. This polish is a high-shine grey creme – just stunning! Here it is on:

2017 Desk Calendar – Value $20?

causebox-winter-2016-0018

This woodblock calendar can also be reused to display photos, prints, etc. when you’ve made it through 2017!

causebox-winter-2016-0016

I really love the designs and style of CAUSEBOX – this calendar will work perfectly with my desk. (I always aim for simplicity on my desk, but a few reviews in, and it’s just product everywhere!)

And one more great thing about this calendar – for every wood block made, CAUSEBOX planted a tree through Trees for the Future.

This print was made exclusively for CAUSEBOX and has silver embossed text printed over the dreamy grey background.

Krochet Kids $25 Online Store Credit

Each Krochet Kids purchase provides life changing jobs, education and mentorship to women living in poverty.

This credit offer is good through February 28th, 2017 and not valid with other offers.

I found a few beanies for less than $25, so you can get a hat for only the $5.99 shipping cost. I think I’m going to get the Brady in black.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $241. I think that value is fantastic for a subscription that works with fair-trade companies! I had to estimate values on a few items so that $241 number could be a little off, but it’s definitely worth the $54.95 cost to me (or $44.95 with the WINTER10 coupon). Plus, I’m loving the grey color theme with this box!

What do you think of the Winter 2016 CAUSEBOX? (FYI – this box is still available if you subscribe now!)

  1. This is my favorite subscription box, period.

  2. Wow, best box of 2016! I got it today and I love everything!!!! Take notes, Rachel Zoe and Popsugar, please!

  3. Every time I cancel this sub, spoilers bring me right back. One of my faves and can’t wait to get this one!

  4. I love the Parker Clay clutch. That alone justifies the price for me. There is something really chic about this moody grey box filled with simple, perfect items that are actually helping the world. This is my new favorite sub.

  5. I put my subscription on hold this month when I saw the spoilers. Everything is nice, but so blah. Everything is grey. I like cheerier things in the winter and was hoping for something cheery or festive or fun instead of just black and grey and practical.

  6. My leather clutch was unfortunately a mess – scratches everywhere and the stitching had a lot of flaws – so disappointing! I contacted customer service and they said they would send me a new one as some of the clutches were damaged in shipping.

I haven’t gotten a tracking number for it yet so hopefully they will remember to send and I won’t have to email again.

Otherwise I really liked the box – love the scarf so much

    • Awww. My entire box was covered with the nail polish that apparently had the lid break during shipment. I emailed CS that day and they sent out a replacement box I already got! So hopefully you have good luck with them too!

    • (I never got tracking info for my replacement box either…it was a pleasant surprise on my doorstep a few days later)

    • I totally had the same problem. White splotches all over my clutch…emailed them immediately to exchange the clutch. They immediately responded stating they wanted me to return the damaged clutch and would send a return shipping label to me. I had no problem doing that. That was on December 29. Still haven’t received the return shipping label and no response to two emails. Did you receive your clutch?

  7. LOVE this. Has anyone gotten their mystery boxes? What size and what did you get!

    • I got my mystery box – $45
      I got the Esperos tote
      A suede pouch
      Branded brass bracelet
      An elephant necklace
      Lip moisturizer
      Listn ear buds

Wasn’t that excited as I already have a set of ear buds and would not wear the necklace. If the branded cuff was the thicker one I would have been really happy

    • I just got mine today….largest size. CS told me the Esperos tote, small black “clutch” with gold bottom and the wood earbuds were standard for that size. In addition to those I got a lip balm, elephant necklace, and branded cuff bracelet. I think that’s all…I already scattered the items. 🙂 BTW CS said there may be some overlap of items from size to size and as mentioned above there were at least 3 “guaranteed” items for largest size.

  8. I really, really like this box, but then, I’m a sucker for a leather clutch. I feel like everything coordinates without being matchy-matchy, and it’s a nice variety of items. Most all the winter boxes have been winners for me this year. It’s been so much fun!

  9. Using the scarf as a wrap in the summer? Yes please! Liz, you are brilliant 🙂

  10. I like the color theme as well! And your dress lol.

    • Thanks! The dress is one of my favorite Fabletics pieces – it is a bit of a struggle to get it on, but it’s super cozy! 🙂

      • Is this box still available?!
