benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-info1

Every box from Benevolent Beauty contains a folded info sheet that lists the details of each featured items.

They include lots of information about each item as well as the retail values and color shade names of each item. Additionally, they list the sites, Twitter handle, and Facebook URL for the brands! Very thorough.

Formula N°2 Lumineux by Baiser Beauty - 1 oz, Value $35

This is a gorgeous product. It’s got a great ingredients list, too: macadamia nut oil, meadowfoam seed oil, lavender essential oil, myrtle essential oil, and mica. It can be used as an illuminating primer, mixed with foundation to add radiance, or as a highlighter. This formula packs a (beautiful) punch with iridescent particles so it will last me a very long time.

Franklin & Whitman Walnut Hill Face Serum – 1 oz, Value $39.95

This is an all-natural, plant-based serum that is a rich anti-aging face treatment. It’s anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant packed to rejuvenate skin. I really love using serums and oils on my face already, and I love this one. It smells nice and feels very hydrating. My skin feels great and looks nice lately, too! Although I haven’t been using this long enough or consistently enough to chalk that completely up to this serum, but I do know I love this serum and feel great putting something on my skin that’s packed with so many good things for it.

Mullein & Sparrow Lemon Rose Face Wash – 2 fl oz, Value $32

Their website says that this face wash “features the gentle cleansing properties of castile soap delicately scented with organic essential oils.” It’s gentle and works well on any skin type. The scent smells like you’d expect from a “lemon rose face wash,” and it removed my makeup pretty well,  too.

Bellapierre Derma Renew BB Cream – 1.5 fl oz, Value $75

FYI – you choose your shade when ordering.

This is a pricey foundation! It’s supposed to act as a concealer, foundation, moisturizer, and has SPF 15 (yay!). It’s oil-free and mineral based and should smooth your complexion without clogging pores.

At first, I scoffed when I saw a complexion item here – I’m super pale, and only a few lines actually carry foundations pale enough for me. Also, this looked pretty dark in the tube. I was shocked when this actually worked for me. I have no idea why it looks so dark in the tube but works on my skin, but it does. It leans a little pink/cool for my complexion, which is pretty true neutral (and does better erring on the side of too warm than too cool). But it’s not that bad or noticeable, especially once I get blush and bronzer on too.

Mommy Makeup Stay Put Matte Lip Cream in “Heather” – 0.12 oz, Value $18.70

This shade, Heather, is described as a “dusty pink-mauve.” It’s a liquid lipstick that dries down matte and has quite good staying power. This formula didn’t dry my lips out, either, which is awesome. I think this color is very versatile and would work for pretty much any skin tone!

MannaKadar Dream Palette – Value $39

The last item in the box is the Dream Palette from Manna Kadar Beauty!

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items7

This is a great multitasking palette. I’ve seen it around in a couple other subscription boxes so I was happy to see it in this one!

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items8

This palette has 6 eyeshadows, 2 highlighters, 1 blush, and a contour/bronzer shade.

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items9

The eyeshadows are some nice neutrals and I love that they included 2 matte medium shades – I love using these for my crease.

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items10

Here are the swatches for you! I found the formulas to have nice pigmentation, but you can even slightly damp your brush to get a little more intense color. Some of the shades, especially the matte ones, seemed slightly powdery, but as a whole, the palette is very nice. I especially love the blush shade – a little goes a long way with that one!

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items11

Here I am wearing the BB cream, Liquid lipstick, and Manna Kadar palette on my eyes and cheeks. A whole face, minus some mascara/eyeliner, in those 3 products! The BB cream definitely has a more matte finish, so I may try mixing it with a little of the liquid luminizer to make it look a little more radiant. It has good coverage, though, and evened my skin tone well.

benevolent-beauty-limited-edition-december-2016-items12

And here’s a closer look at my eyeshadow, which is an easy everyday look (I used the 2nd shadow shade from the left all over my lid, the 4th shadow in my crease, and the 6th shadow with a light hand in the corners.

Verdict: What a lovely special edition box from Benevolent Beauty! I love the palette, am pleasantly surprised that the foundation works for me, and the rest of the items feel quite luxe. I love how well-rounded this box is in regards to the kinds of products it features. Also worth noting, this ENTIRE box is vegan as well as! As far as value goes, everything totals up to $239.65, which is astounding for a $62 box.

My Bellapierre came 1/2 empty. Compared to other bb creams of the same size , this seems odd/off. I was going to email BB customer service but wanted to see if anyone else experienced the same, or if this is normal?

Hi Tarah,
I’ve only been subbing to BBfor three months, and have not received Partial products in any of my samples. Please let us know Rachel’s response – her customer service is fantastic.

Benevelont Beauty has quickly become my favorite sub box! I have discovered some truly “yummy” and favorite new brands and products. The Lumineux was an instant lift to my fair complexion. I have used it as a highlighter, applying before my powdered blush. Do any of you have other suggestions that have worked well?

I have been using the Lemon Rose face wash in the morning, the citrus/rose scent has lifted my spirits during the cold, dark Colorado mornings.

Mommy Makeup Lipcream is the item I was least excited about – the color appeared drab – but surprisingly is now a definite favorite! Be careful as you apply, as it has fierce staying power! The shade gives you a “make-up free” look, natural and the shade of my lips. For me this matte lasts about six hours. That is the best of any lip product I have ever used.

I’ve been wearing the Lumineux underneath my makeup or mixing it with my BB cream or foundation. I like the product a lot!

Jaclyn, I mixed the Lumineux with my BB Cream, love the results. The product is wonderful!!

Samantha

Alyce, how would you describe the lipstick once applied? I agree it looks drab and didn’t even want to open the tube because mauve is horrible on me, but I’m wondering if it looks like a different shade on. It definitely looks like a dusty mauve in the tube, and I also thought it looked like a terrible color on their website, like a grayish mauve.

Hi Samantha, I am so sorry, I didn’t see your comment until this evening. The shade, once applied, evens out and matches perfectly with my lip shade. It feels drying when I lick my lips, but it is not. the shade of the tube is exactly the color that dried on my lips.

Samantha

Also, the color in Haley’s photo doesn’t look like my Heather lipstick does. When I go on the Mommy Makeup website, it looks more like the Pennie color, which also makes me uncertain of how it would look on.

Samantha

I bought the Benevolent mystery box, which included the lipstick and Walnut Hill face serum from this box. I have listed both on my swap page, which you can access by clicking my name. I have combo oily skin and rosacea and cannot use the face serum, so I’ve never opened it. Mauve is also the WORST lipstick color for me, though it looks fantastic on Haley and probably any skin tone but mine. I wish I would have gotten pretty much any other lip product they had in the past few boxes instead of a mauve, but that’s the sub box life, lol.

I was happy with this box, although not a big fan of the manna kadar eyeshadows, took a lot of build up to get color payoff, and i didn’t love the bb cream. Loved the skin care products, though! Also, kinda annoyed by how they inflated the value of some things in the box. That bb cream is NOT $75, you can get it for like $35 at walmart, and the manna kadar pallete, $25 from birchbox. A couple other items were inflated as well. They promised a box over $200 value, but it is not.

Michelle, you’re right – you can! I just looked that up on Walmart’s website. Thanks for the heads up. When writing the reviews we double check the retail values the subscriptionsame provide when we look up where to buy each product. The BB cream actually IS $75 straight from Bellapierre, so that’s on BP not Benevolent Beauty specifically. But yeah, thanks for pointing out it sells for half that at Walmart. 🙂

Bellapierre is totally inflated everywhere. It is related to Dead Sea Minerals – it is an overpriced, scammy Israeli-based company that upsells you into debt via mall kiosks. I actually like the Bellapierre scrub LLB sent, but the prices are a joke and I would never buy. Look them all up.

I was interested til I saw it was included in this box. I am pretty sure there is little benevolent about that company.

Heather

This was my favorite make up box for the entire year of 2016. Every item was wonderful and i will fully use each item. I think my favorite new find of the box was the Lumineux. I loved every item tho. I felt so pretty after I used everything!!!
Wonderfully curated!
