Wines are handpicked by sommeliers from boutique wineries across Europe and then transferred into VineBox’s signature glass vials using proprietary technology that preserves the integrity of the wine.
Each box contains three vials, and each vial contains 10 centiliters of wine. (FYI- 10 centiliters = 3.38 oz., which is about 3/4 the size of a full glass of wine.) The design on each vial maintains the vineyard’s original bottle design.

2014 Domaine du Chardonnay Chablis Premier Cru- $32 a bottle
If you regularly read my wine reviews, you probably know about my ambivalence towards Chardonnay. (I tend to love steel-aged Chardonnay and loathe oaky, buttery Chards.) For me, Chablis is the unicorn of the Chardonnay world. (Most Chablis is made exclusively from Chardonnay!) There’s something about the chalky French soil where Chablis is grown that transforms the grape into something unique, wonderful, and perfectly tailored to my palate. This one is no exception. On the nose, it’s peachy and clean, and the flavor is crisp with a delicious, sparkly minerality. I love this wine.
Chateau de L'Engarran Cuvée Sainte Cécile- $23 a bottle
The next wine I received is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Consult from Languedoc-Roussillon. It’s really easy to drink and has a nice, dry finish, but it’s not mind blowing. That said, it’s a pretty solid French wine for the price point.
2005 Château Maison Blanche Montagne Saint Emilion- $75 a bottle
When I first looked up this bottle on the VineBox website, I was surprised (and delighted!) to see that it retails for $75!! I reserve wines in that price range for VERY special occasions, so I’m pretty impressed to see that VineBox has included one in this box. What a treat! It’s a Bordeaux blend (from Montagne Saint-Emilion) that’s made from Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Here’s a peek at it swirling in the glass:
Aged for over a decade in the bottle, this wine is mature, reserved, and delicious. It’s very earthy, and it has a nice ripe berry flavor. I savored this wine, and I really delighted in sipping a $75 Bordeaux on an average weeknight.
Verdict: I’m so in love with this month’s VineBox! As usual, the wines were all delicious, and I’m blown away that this box included a $75 wine! The cost of the box breaks down to $11.67 per glass, which I’m totally happy with given the wines I received. My only complaint is that I wish I had more!
