Honest Diapers Bundle
4.2 overall rating
12 Ratings | 4 Reviews

The Honest Company offers five different “bundle” subscriptions: Essentials (household items), Diapers & Wipes, Health & Wellness (vitamins), Organic Infant Formula + DHA  and Beauty.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This review is of the Diapers & Wipes Bundle, $79.95 a month, box.

Note from Liz: The Honest Company was recently in the news about cancellation issues. Currently, you have to call in to cancel your subscription (you can update the ship date from your online account, though.) Phone wait times were reported at up to half an hour in some cases. The Honest Company has issued this response:

"Our mission from day one has been to help people live happy, healthy lives by providing products that families everywhere can trust. We are constantly looking at ways that we can further improve our customer service policies and procedures. Online subscription cancellation is a feature we've been working on and plan to enable in the very near future as a way to provide our customers an easier way to make changes to their subscription preferences 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We look forward to implementing these changes shortly. In the meantime, we always offer refunds to any customer who wishes to cancel, without exception, as well as a 365 day return policy."

Honest Company Diaper bundles are always huge since they have enough (or more than enough) for a month! Here's what I got this month.

If you're not familiar with this subscription, here are the basics: You always get 6 packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes each month. For the diapers, you can select your favorite patterns, and Honest will randomly pick for you depending on what's available. You can swap in Overnight Diapers or Pull-Up style diapers for any of the 6 packs. You can even change the size on SOME of the diapers (which I opted to try this month). You can also add on extra products for a 25% discount.

2 packs of Honest Overnight Diapers, size 5 - Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription

Predictably, as happens when you have a toddler, just when you find something you love and can rely on it, something changes: the day I received this bundle, my little guy started peeing through these every night! For months since I started using Honest Company diapers this has not been an issue and I was so happy to have found an overnight diaper that worked well enough to keep my son dry at night.

I think he might be growing out of them. My 19-month-old is a tall kid but solidly in the middle for weight, and at his last appointment a few weeks ago he weighed 28 pounds. The size 5 honest diapers say "27+" for their size but, I think we need to start sizing up next month. That extra half a pound apparently makes a big difference, because last month this fit perfectly!

3 packs of Honest Diapers, size 2, "Election Diaper" and "Tropical Frogs" prints - Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.35/diaper for size 2), save 22% with subscription

Thankfully it's really easy to update bundle sizes. I also learned from a commenter on a previous review that you can swap sizes on just SOME packages of diapers, not the whole box! I imagine that is intended for when your kid is growing out of a size, especially in those crazy first few months.

This month, I used it to get a quick last minute baby shower gift, and replaced two of my Size 5 diapers with Size 2 instead! I usually buy size 1 or 2 when giving diapers to a new mom, since they can sometimes get overwhelmed with Newborn sizes and babies grow so fast.

I got the "Election Diaper" in my shipment last month, but "Tropical Frogs" was new to me. I love this design - the frogs are really a bright and colorful but unexpected pattern that would be great for boys or girls.

2 packs of Honest Diapers, size 5, "Skulls" and "T-Rex" print - Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.56/diaper), save 22% with subscription

Once again, I missed out on the fun seasonal selections - my bundle shipped just a day or so before the holiday designs were announced! I am hoping I can get a few of these in my December bundle:

How cute! I love the cars with trees, but also how simple and fun the candy stripe pattern is!

But, the T-Rex design was new for me this month, and I love it! My son just learned to imitate a roar so these are perfect right now. He's showing an interest in the animals on his clothing, too, so he seemed to like them just as much as me.

4 pack of Honest Wipes - $18.95 ($4.95 individually)

Last month I gave away all 4 packs of wipes to my sister in law, who has a newborn because I had 8 unopened packs on hand! I'm back on track this month so I don't feel so overwhelmed, but I do wish Honest would let subscribers swap wipes for other products.

Happy to report that nothing has changed about my love for these wipes! They're perfect in every way: seemingly gentle for baby, unscented, with a great thickness and just the right amount of texture.

I also got an add-on this month:

honest_diapers_november_2016_diaper_cream

Honest Diaper Rash Cream, 2.5 oz size - $9.95 ($7.46 with the add-on discount when you subscribe)

Once again, I knew my bundle was shipping and we were almost out of diaper cream, so I tossed this in! I was a little surprised that it's a 2.5 oz tube for the $9.95 retail price - that is so much smaller than the last tube of Desitin that I bought, which is 4 oz and cost about half as much!

We haven't had a reason to use it yet, but I opened it to get an idea of how it was different. It's not as thick as Desitin, but thicker than the Target brand diaper cream (which I've found to be way too runny). It also has a really pleasant herbal essential oil scent. The ingredients include sunflower, castor, olive, coconut, grapeseed, jojoba, and clary sage oils. I'm not sure, but I think most of the scent is the jojoba and clary sage. I'm pleasantly surprised by this new twist on an old product, and I'll be happy to report back on how it works once we actually use it.

honest_diapers_november_2016_free_tote

Honest Tote Bag - $8?

This month, I also got the free subscriber tote from October's offer! They don't sell this online so I'm guessing at the value, but it's a nice sturdy no-frills canvas bag. This is a nice big tote, big enough to fit 4-5 packages of diapers. The bright blue ink on the inside of the shipping box did rub off on this a little bit, unfortunately, but I plan on using it to pack up my baby shower gift.

Verdict: For $87.41 this month (bundle price + add-ons), I got $118.11 worth of products at their regular retail prices, delivered right to my door. My verdict is pretty much always the same: Honest is a little more expensive than some other diaper brands, but the quality and convenience are excellent, the prints are fun, and I've found the formulations of the products I've used to be excellent so far. I was happy to learn that I can customize my subscription to include different sizes, and I'm always pleased with my add-on products too.

We have had great luck with the Honest Co diaper cream. I also like the Bottom spray for the, er, stickier diaper changes. And now that my kid is older we’ve also been getting the gummy vitamins.

I tried their diapers when they had like 40% off your first bundle. I got the anchor print and the dinosaurs which were super cute. My problem is they leak! I’ve had at least 10 of them that have leaked when they weren’t even that full. My son rarely ever leaks through his huggies, and only if they’re super full.

I’ve literally never had an issue until now!

For add ones I consistently get the hand soaps (like both the regular and foaming). I also like their Vicks like product for little kids. We get congested a lot and it helps my little guys breathe a little easier.

My last package came before my son’s birthday and they include a small pack (5?) of Happy Birthday diapers which I have never seen them sell. (I think it is just a nice thank you for regular subscribers or a new benefit for subscribers. We didn’t get them last year when we had just started subscribing).

My Halloween bag was the black one. On Halloween I used it to xaet stuff my kids might need and I had a sippt cup explosion. Instead of spot cleaning I put it in wash (either delicate or hand wash mode) and there was glitter everywhere. D’oh! So, for everyone who got those bags follow the directions which I am guessing say to spot clean.

I just had to move up my little guy to size 5s. He’s actually smaller than your guy (on really low end of spectrum – growth issues 🙁 ). One of the things I have noticed with having kids and talking to others online is that weight thing is definitely a loose guideline. Kids of the same weight can be in different sizes just because of how their torsos vary. And don’t even get me started on the difference between manufacturers. A size 5 is not the same size 5 if you choose a different brand. So sometimes if there is a “fit” issue one thing to do is to change brands.

Yeah, I was mostly surprised to be encountering this fit issue after he gained just half a pound since my last review! Generally I always thought Honest diapers fit taller babies better, so they work well for us.

Nice tip about the birthday diapers – I didn’t know they did that!

Have you tried their Honest balm? For me it works better than the Honest rash cream and is great for chaffing, scratches, dry skin…pretty much everything! Also, I use size 4 diapers for my 32lb son which have never leaked.

Lacey

I haven’t, maybe I’ll give that a shot next month!

I can’t believe the 4s fit your son well, diaper sizing is so funny like that – you never really know what is going to fit and what isn’t! Generally for the daytime they work just fine, it’s only overnight that it’s recently become an issue… when he was younger I had to size up on overnights too, so might just be a quirk for us.

I second the recommendation for the Healing Balm. That stuff is awesome for so many uses.

Also, here is a tip if you need to call The Honest Company for any reason. If you call early in the morning when they first open, there is either no wait or a very short wait to talk to them. (I have had to call before when something was wrong with my shipment and they fixed the problem immediately.)
