The BabyGuy Box is a monthly Baby and Toddler/Pre-K subscription box that sends you full-size products that have been hand-picked by Jamie Grayson (The Baby Guy NYC) who is a well-respected authority in baby gear and child safety over the past five years. They aim to send functional, practical, innovative, and fun things like toys, baby gear, books, feeding essentials, and clothing accessories.

They also offer monthly themed/curated, once-off purchases that do not renew which is a great, no-commitment way to try their service, too. Monthly subscribers get to choose whether to have a personalized surprise box or to receive a themed/curated box for that month instead.

Manhattan Toy Company Puppy Playtime Bagel Hound – Value $21

I’m starting off with the thing I’m most excited about in this box! This plush puppy is so cute and it’s super soft. It’s also a great size. If you’re familiar with the Jellycat brand of plushes, I though this might be one initially because of how soft it is and nice quality it seems.

These can sit or stand, and the chocolate brown color is gorgeous.

Gideon absolutely loves this dog. He loves dogs in general so he started barking at this as soon as I pulled it out of the box. I love the ears and how they have a different soft fabric underneath on the inside.

Scrub Genie by PowerPuff – 2 pack, Value $5

These sponges are interesting. You run them under warm water and they soften for light scrubbing, or run them under cold water for heavy duty scrubbing. They work as expected/described, but my one gripe is that if I want to do heavy duty scrubbing I generally also want warm/hot water to help make it easier. Having the cold water be for heavy duty scrubbing seems slightly counterproductive. They still work fine, though, and if anything is really that difficult to remove I can probably just soak it for a little bit anyway.

Rich Frog Classic Pull Toy, Boy Puppy – Value $15.95

Another plush dog! Gideon is happy, haha. This one has wooden wheels on the feet and has a leash for pulling it around on a “walk.” This is a great toy, and made well, but the leash string is just a little too short for Gideon to be able to use it comfortably. I used a shoestring to extend it and now it’s fine!

Bumpkins Dr. Seuss Melamine Divided Plate – Value $6.95

I was happy to see this in the box because I have been using some Tupperware divided containers for Gideon’s sacks and meals. This works great and he’s been very interested in it during meals so far! I don’t think it’s making him eat any more than he usually does (which I wish he would, just a little) but it’s at least helping him enjoy mealtime more.

Otium Brands Cozy Toes, the Dinos – Value $14.99

These are leg warmers with socks attached! That way you don’t end up losing socks, and they’re designed to stay on well so they can handle all the crawling and toddling your baby can do.

baby-guy-box-october-2016-items-9

I think these are adorable. I love the dinos and I love that the socks have grippy parts on the toes and heels instead of just in the middle… Gideon has still slipped on our hardwood many times when he stands on his toes or changes direction on his heels and such. Smart!  While these aren’t something I think I’d buy myself, I’m sure I’ll reach for them, especially on laundry days.

Boon Snug Spout – Value $9.99

These are a great idea! These turn any cup with a 2.5”-3.75” diameter into a sippy cup. You can use straws with them, too. I tried one today at lunch and I was really impressed with how they didn’t leak at all!

These would be great for travel and restaurants, too.

Bumkins Zippered Wet Bag, Gray Chevron – Value $10.95

Another great item for traveling, or just to keep in the car/diaper bag in case! This bag is waterproof on the inside and is easily wiped clean or machine washed (hang dry).

This is a nice, large size (12” wide and 14” long). This bag is perfect for cloth diapering, dirty clothes, or wet swimsuits. So handy!

Verdict: I liked my second The BabyGuy Box even better than the first. I really like everything they sent me and I (again) got a great mix of some favorite brands and new discoveries! As far as value goes, this box adds up to $84.83, which I’m happy with for a $40 box. This was a personalized surprise box, but I chose a featured curated box for November, which is a holiday theme, and I’m super excited to see that one (every month subscribers can opt for the monthly curated box or a personalized subscribed box – super nice if the curated theme doesn’t apply to you for a certain month!).

Loba

Just a safety heads up. Pull toys used to have much longer strings and then they (atkeast new ones) disappeared from the market for awhile and now returned with shorter strings. I think the shorter strings is to prevent a strangulation hazard in kiddos. Yup, it makes it almost impossible to pull those toys but it’s to keep kiddos safe. So, just a caution…
