Sweet Surprises is a monthly subscription box by Bakery Charms, a Hawaii-based jewelry store that offers realistically cute dessert jewelry and accessories. Every month they send you a Bakery Charms piece along with 2-3 extras, including an edible treat, related to the theme and a coupon code.

Each jewelry piece is handmade out of polymer clay and other materials by self-taught polymer clay artist, Jenn K. Lee. The Bakery Charms piece may be an exclusive subscribers-only necklace, an early release of a magnet/keychain, or a variation of a current bestselling ring, and it will be worth more than the cost of the subscription. The small extras are included to support the featured piece and increase the box’s fun and cute factors.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Personalized Bakery Charms AlphaSweets Chocolate Sugar Cookie Initial Necklace

Whew, what a long name! This month’s necklace features a chocolate sugar cookie with icing and metallic nonpareils, shaped like the first initial of my name. As always, the design is impressively realistic and I’m in awe of the craftsmanship. This is an early release of their AlphaSweets collection and it is an exclusive Autumn 2016 design. This isn’t a style I would normally reach for (I rarely wear personalized jewelry) but this is so delicate and cute I can’t help but adore it. The more I wear it the more it grows on me.

Bakery Charms sells their necklaces with silver plated chains or sterling silver for an additional cost. I assume this necklace comes with regular silver plated chains.

The necklace is adjustable and rests underneath the collarbone.

Autumn Leaf Favor Box with Metallic Leaf Confetti

Onto the extras! This is a small plastic favor box that came with maple leaf confetti. It’s absolutely perfect for my current state of mind because the trees are finally changing color where I live! Autumn started really late here so I’m taking whatever I can get.

Autumn Leaf Tattoo

This is a simple leaf tattoo. While I am a little old to be wearing temporary tattoos, I’m sure my younger sister will love this.

Autumn Leaf Lariat

This is a small maple leaf charm that would be cute on keychains, zipper pulls, or bags.

Thanksgiving Turkey Lollipop

Getting candy in a subscription box never fails to excite me. I thought this Thanksgiving turkey one was so adorable I almost didn’t want to eat it. Almost.

Verdict: I’m happy with the design this month! Necklaces are sold for at least $20 on their website, so I think this subscription’s value comes primarily from the cost of one necklace and shipping. If you’re looking for realistic, unique, and extremely well-crafted jewelry that caters to your cute side, then I would suggest trying this box.
