This month’s box is all about “feast and favor,” and the items included are intended to help add pizzaz to cold weather entertaining. Featured brands include Beekman 1802, Shaksbury Cider, Emile Henry, Runamok, and B. Toffee.

The booklet includes beautiful photographs and lots of information about the included products. (I couldn’t resist sharing a picture of baby goats in a bucket! Too cute! And in case you need more cute goats in your life, check out Beekman 1802’s Live Goat Cam.)

This month’s booklet also features a collection of recipes that incorporate and complement the featured items.

Emile Henry Pie Dish- Value $40 MSRP (on sale for $29.96)

The first item in this month’s box is a Burgundy clay pie dish from Emile Henry. It’s resistant to breakage, safe to use in ovens up to 500 degrees, and heavy duty enough that it can go directly from the freezer to the oven. (Perfect for making pie crust ahead of time!)

robb-vices-november-2016-pie-side

It has a wonderful weight to it, and I think the pumpkin orange color is perfect for fall. I also think the fluted edge is a lovely, classic detail.

robb-vices-november-2016-pie-bottom

Despite being a baker and baking all the time at home, I don’t actually own a high-quality, company-friendly pie dish! (I tend to stock my kitchen with pretty basic cookware.) I can’t wait to show this off at Thanksgiving dinner!

robb-vices-november-2016-ciders

This box contained both a bottle and a can of Shacksbury Cider.

Shacksbury Cider Can - Value $6.25

At first, I thought it was a little strange that Robb Vices included a single can of cider in this box, but then I realized that it’s actually for the beer bread! (How thoughtful!) I forgot to sneak a taste of it before mixing it into the bread mix, but I can absolutely vouch for it being delicious in the bread. (Read on to see how my Beekman 1802 Beer Bread turned out!)

Shacksbury Cider Bottle - Listed Value $30

The bottle of hard cider is a limited release that’s not currently for sale on the Shacksbury Cider website. It’s made from heirloom apples that were hand-picked at the Apple Hill Farm in Vermont, and the flavor is dry and complex. I love dry cider, and this stuff is incredible!

robb-vices-november-2016-toffee

B. Toffee (9 oz.) - Value $16.95

Next up is a very sizable container of milk chocolate toffee. It’s made with a combination of high-quality chocolate (both Guittard and Callebaut), premium butter, and chopped pecans. This stuff is delicious. It’s crisp and rich, and I think it has the absolute perfect balance of sweet and salty.

robb-vices-november-2016-syrup

Runamok Pecan Wood Smoked Maple Syrup - Value $16.95

When I first pulled this item out of the box, my first thought was “pancakes!”; however, Robb Vices indicates that’s the last thing it should be used for. Apparently, this isn’t any normal maple syrup, and it’s much better suited for use in cocktails and cooking. This month’s booklet includes a recipe for Whiskey & Smoked Maple Glazed Carrots, which sounds phenomenal.

Beekman 1802 Blood Orange Cranberry Raspberry Spread (8 oz.)- $10.95

Beekman 1802 is a relatively new company, but it’s quickly grown into a substantial lifestyle brand! (Their products can now be found at Target, and they even have a selection of subscription boxes available that feature their beauty products, foods, candles, and cheeses!) Despite Beekman products being pretty widely available, this is my first time trying them. I have to say I’m pretty impressed. This spread is made with blood oranges, cranberries, and raspberries, and it has a nicely balanced flavor that’s both sweet and a little tart. The citrus adds a nice brightness that complements the juicy flavor of the cranberries. I think this spread would be great on buttered toast or with cheese.

Beekman 1802 Micro Brew Beer Bread Mix (19 oz.) - Listed Value $12.95

The second Beekman item is this Micro Brew Beer Bread Mix, which I couldn’t seem to find for sale online (so I’ve used the price provided by Robb Vices). The instructions couldn’t be simpler: all you have to do is combine the boxed dry mix with a can of beer (I took Robb Vice’s advice and used the can of cider), pour it into a greased loaf pan, and top it with melted butter. FYI- I also topped my bread with a little Fleur de Sel.

I’ve only made beer bread a handful of times, and I forgot how great it smells while baking. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, and utterly wonderful.

robb-vices-november-2016-bread-baked

I let the loaf cool for a bit and then sliced it.

robb-vices-november-2016-bread-sliced

The cider gives this bread a really interesting flavor that’s a little sweet and a bit fruity. I tried it with the cranberry spread, and I really liked the combination. So much flavor!

This bread was so quick and really tasty, and I think it would be a really fun and unexpected addition to the Thanksgiving table.

Verdict: When the spoilers for this month’s Robb Vices came out, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but I really like it now that I have it in my hands. The theme of holiday entertaining is perfect for this time of year, and I really love my new ceramic pie plate! (Though, as a baker, I might be a little biased!) As always, I think Robb Vices has nailed down a great curation story, and all of the comestibles they included are delicious. The total value of the items in this box comes to just over $124. That’s not nearly as high as some of the previous boxes, but it’s still pretty solid.

Hey I went on their site earlier to around because I so wanted to get this for my hubby and they had a 30.00 off your first purchase and you don’t have to sign up for a 3 or 6 month subscription either. I live in MA sadly but my uncle lives 10 mins from me right over the line in CT so I am sending it to his house…. I didn’t realize shipping was added as well to the total so I would never of just bought this box otherwise seeing that it would of been close to 85.00 dollars after all said and done. That doesn’t mean I don’t want it really really badly. It’s Christmas and the 30 off just was perfect…
My other issue is that I most likely won’t get the December box because you have to be signed up before the 1st to get that months box….. Boo hoo. I can almost bit the December box is gonna be amazing like always. I did send an email and asked if it were possible to recieve December first but I don’t know anything yet. I am over the 🌙

I know a lot of people weren’t happy with this box, but I think it’s perfect for November. As long as they keep putting in good alcohol and other items, I’m happy. The tequila box is my favorite with the rum box coming in second.

Enjoyed the cider with our Thanksgiving dinner. The toffee is almost gone and really messing up my weight watchers. I got the white pie plate and really wish I had gotten pumpkin.
