Hugglehounds Eyeball – Value $14.95

I guess eyeball toys are popular at Halloween time (we got a different eyeball toy in Barkbox). This was a decent size for Nyx (might not work for a much larger dog; Nyx is about 87 pounds right now). We received the blue one, which for some reason costs more than the green one…

Delightfully Daisy Poppin’ Peanut Butter Gourmet Dog Treat (1 oz x 2) – Value $2.65

Delightfully Daisy is a new brand for me; they sell through Etsy. I can’t give this to Nyx because it contains wheat flour and oats (she has to be grain free due to her inflammatory bowel disease) but I know several people with dogs who would love to have these, so they will be passed on.

Grandma Lucy’s Organic Oven Baked Dog Treats, Pumpkin Recipe (14 oz) – Value $8.54

We are seeing a lot of pumpkin-themed treats this fall, but in addition to being seasonal, pumpkin has lots of fiber, which can be good for dogs with certain food issues (before Nyx’s IBD diagnosis, she got a big spoonful of pureed pumpkin with every meal). These do also have wheat flour in them as well as some added sugars, so they should be fed sparingly.

B’Seen Night Light from Kruuse – Value $5.39

You’ll usually get one sort of supply like this from PetPack (sometimes it is wipes, sometimes it is waste bags, etc.). This is a battery-operated light with a reflector that you can attach to your dog’s collar so s/he is visible at night. Pretty soon I think I will be able to start walking Nyx again (she had some injuries to her knee ligaments last year) so this will come in handy since she is mostly black.

Here are some shots of Nyx with the eyeball toy. She did not destroy it so she is able to play with it multiple times! Sadly, it has about the most annoying squeak ever, which makes her like it even more…

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $31.53 for the October 2016 PetPack for dogs. This is one of the better values I’ve seen from this subscription lately, but it is still a little low compared to the price of the box plus shipping. Using our MSA2016 coupon code and signing up for a longer-term subscription will make the value to cost ratio a little more favorable. If your dog has food issues, this may not be the best subscription for you, since both treats had wheat in them this month. However, the toy was pretty durable and Nyx loved it.

The prices of the items seem inflated to me. This box does not seem like a good value.

Just FYI, if you look at the website there’s a comparison picture for the green and blue eyeballs, and the green one is about half the size of the blue one. That’s why it’s cheaper.

Ah, I didn’t see the image of them together. That explains it!
