I used the 25% coupon for the deluxe box last month thinking I was getting the November box. I used the link from the November spoiler post here at MSA. The deluxe box is supposed to contain 16-20 items. I did not get the October box or the November box. I received 11 items and not the 16-20 in the deluxe box. I wrote to them and they said I received a “bonus, promotional” box for new customers. “The promotional box is available for new customers to get a taste of what is to come. The Bonus Box is a mix of our customer favorite items. This box is not the same as our monthly subscription boxes.”

I wrote back and asked if that meant it was free and I was still getting the November box. They said no. “The Bonus box is promotional, because they are a discounted price from our regular subscription box. They are also a different variety of snacks from the monthly boxes.”

I was beyond disappointed. Nowhere does it say that when I signed up. If you click on the link above for the discounted first box you don’t see anything indicating you are getting a “bonus” box containing only 11 items. To make matters worse, most of my box was gluten free so I thought they had sent me the gluten free box by mistake. Nope. I cancelled immediately.

While I like some of the products they send, I have found their monthly boxes to be pretty hit or miss and I haven’t had the best experience with their customer service team and one rep in particular. I pointed out an error with their referral service with language that was taken directly off their website and provided screen shots of the same, but seemed they were being argumentative and trying to give me the run around instead of directly addressing that they indeed did not follow through as advertised and were in the wrong. This seems similar to your experience. If you’re paying a discounted amount but receiving a discounted amount of items, isn’t it not really a discount/promotion? Also “bonus” implies additional, something extra, so that is misleading.

Additionally, on nearly all of the boxes or gift boxes I have purchased from them, I have had to send them a separate email to get the indicated points added to my profile. Not a big deal, but annoying to have to do each time.
