Cairn is a subscription service that delivers outdoor gear every month. They bill their service as “Your Monthly Box of Outdoor Discovery.” My family loves to get outdoors as much as possible, and we love discovering new gear!

When I signed up for Cairn, they asked me to do a huge questionnaire for customization purposes. It asked questions about the types of outdoor activities I like, and I chose hiking, camping (car), backpacking, and yoga. They had loads of options, though, like rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing — just about everything I could think of! They also asked a few lifestyle questions (kids?  dogs?) plus basics like t-shirt size.

All this leads me to believe that contents may vary from subscriber to subscriber, so if you subscribe but get different things, please let me know!

TrailHeads Ponytail Headband – Value $22

I seriously have only taken this thing off to shower since I received it. This is the warmest, most comfortable thing I have ever worn on my head. The inside is fleece, so it’s soft and extra warm and not itchy, plus it can accommodate my giant hair in a ponytail, top knot, or loose. It’s magic! I love it!

FitZip Waist Belt by FitKicks – Value $9.99

This is a cool expandable waist pack that you can wear while hiking or exercising. It’s pretty cool! I actually used to have something like it I used when traveling to reduce my odds of being a target of theft overseas. This could be useful for travel also.

10 Wipe Travel Tube by Essential Wipes – Value $5

I get a lot of wipes in subscription boxes, and they always come in handy! These are special because they are made from bamboo and are completely biodegradable. They are also made with essential oils and are free of alcohol and other harsh chemicals. Cool!

Salazon Chocolate 2-Pack – Total Value $ 1.96

I really shouldn’t have, but oh my gosh, these were so delicious! I couldn’t resist. Don’t worry, I shared with the family. I love it when you can really taste the salt!

cairn-november-2016-coupon

We used to get an envelope from Cairn with lots of coupons in it, but Cairn recently switched to a card with all the promo codes printed on it.  That’s so much more handy and eco-friendly!

Verdict: We love our Cairn subscription! I am consistently impressed by their product variety and selection. We have discovered so many new items that have revolutionized our camping experiences! This month the headband was my favorite item. I may seriously wear it all winter! This month’s value adds up to about $39, which is good for a $25 box. Cairn’s values are consistently good!

Do you subscribe to Cairn? What are your outdoor activities? What did they send you?

  1. I loved this box. You are so right, the headband looks good, feels good, and is WARM. I will use the waistbelt, I bike a lot and went to that website and got one that is more reflective to use for winter activities when it gets dark early. I think this may be my favorite Cairn box ever, though it is hard to choose because they are always great.
