Just wanted to give BOTM a shout out for their great customer service. I did the early ship option and added The Remains of the Day to my box. Two days later, got an e-mail stating they had accidentally placed a different add-on book in my box, that they had already mailed The Remains of the Day separatist, and that the extra book was mine to keep. That is how you do customer service!!!

I picked Swing Time by Zadie Smith and also chose from path months, The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner and All The Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood. I just joined last month, but I will renew by the end of December. I am enjoying the club. 🙂

I LOVED “All The Ugly and Wonderful Things”. One of my favorite books of the year, and I have read over 100. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you. 🙂 I have a feeling I will love it, was just a little squeamish about certain aspects. But I read Lolita years ago and found it to be a good read…you know what I mean. I broke my ankle last month and had surgery-a plate and nine screws-so I am off my feet and enjoying reading again! I have The Sun Is Also Star coming tomorrow too. Check out My Lit Box, she always picks winners!

Do you think that I can use the coupon for a gift?

I picked Every Man a Menace and The Trespassers, even though neither are my usual genre. (None of the books this month are, really.) I read snippets on Amazon and they are both written with a tone I can handle. 🙂

A Gambler’s Anatomy, Swing Time, and The Trespasser all sounds great.

BOTM always has great selections! I am no longer a subscriber but always find a book on my “to be read” list among their picks. Otherwise, there’s something to add.

I went with Tana French and added on The Widower’s Wife. I’m hoping that there isn’t a problem reading the 6th book in a series first, since I haven’t read Tana before!

Tana’s writing is amazing! Murder mystery is not at all my genre, but I love hers. To answer your question… kind of, but not completely. The books are in order, but it isn’t critical to read them in order. Each of her characters is a character from a previous book (so far.) I love first seeing them through someone else’s eyes and then seeing their inner world.

The main character for this book has a pretty big role in #5, The Secret. (Sidenote: I’m so excited she’s the main for this one.) So, just realize it may give some of the one away. Also, there may be some references you don’t completely understand, but so far the pieces from one book/case haven’t figured into any of the next in any prominent way. There are some references to things that happened in the past, so there could be a spoiler about how a book ends. #5 would have given away some of the end of #4, but the references that there are have so far been kind of vague.

Whoa, I wrote a lot there… but hopefully that helps in making an informed decision.

Thanks for all the info! I’m thinking about checking out some of the prior books in the series before I start reading this one. I’m a fan of murder mysteries, so this series sounds right up my alley!

They have some great new add-ons this month too…The Remains of the Day and The Widower’s Wife will both be in my cart this month too. Yay!

I love Tana French AND Zadie Smith, so that will be a difficult choice….might just have to make it two picks this month :)!
