  1. Birchbox was my first and favorite box for a long time. About 4 years in and I’m done for sure. Unless they do a better Black Friday deal, this is not the best deal they’ve done. I always re-sub this time of year and this will be the first year that I don’t. Not sad to see it go either. What gets me is how false their advertising is, for example the photo above would be an amazing box, but these days your lucky if you get ONE of those awesome items in your box. Let alone all 5 in the picture!

  2. Waiting to see if $8.25 a month can get me an annual sub for Glossybox again. I left Birchbox for Sephora about 6 months ago, and not regretting it.

  3. Not cheap enough.

I’m not a total BB detractor, but I used to be a huge fan and I’m just not anymore. With no points, I MIGHT consider re-subbing if they do 30% off again. Otherwise, I think I’m out. And this time last year, I never thought I’d say such a thing.

    • Not having the points makes a big difference in resubscribing for me. The products are so small and I have a pile in my closet of the boxes. To me, the entire purpose was to get those points to buy things. I think their subscription renewal rate will really suffer!

  4. I just placed an order with Birchbox for two of the men’s test drive kits and used the code for a free mystery box. I got my order today, but it was addressed to The Clever Sara Webb, which I thought was rather funny and odd. They’ve never addressed me like that before.

    • I think that’s pretty common for them to add something cute & funny before our names (at least for the subscription boxes), but I ALWAYS forget to check what my new name is for the month! The very few times I remembered to check, I thought they were pretty funny & cute, but I can’t remember any of them. Just like a lot of subscribers I’m sure, my family thinks I signed up for the box using one of those names. 😀

      • lol man now I feel jipped, I was a Birchbox subscriber for 5 years and my boxes always just came to Sara Webb and my shop orders. First time I’ve ever seen them use an adjective!

    • My monthly sub boxes are always addressed with flattering adjectives like that. Not sure if their orders from the shop are also addressed that way.

I only noticed when I started receiving my sub boxes at my P.O. address about 6 or so months ago. I noticed when I started checking that I was getting the correct packages.

      I think it’s a nice touch! 🙂

    • My last package was not a sub order and they addressed me as ‘The Great. Been called, glowing, superstar, upbeat, and magical. Always nice to see.

  5. Holding out to see if they do a better deal. I got a cyber Monday deal for 25% off last year, which got it down to about $7.29 per box.

If a good deal like last year’s comes by, I may re-sub, but if not, not the end of the world because I should still be trying to get my sub numbers down! 🙂

    • I agree…I also got the deal at 25% off. If they repeat that deal, I’ll re-sub, if they don’t then I’m out.

    • I got 30% off as an ACE. If I can get 25-30% off I will definitely sign up again.

      • Same here 🙂 it’s still worth it to subscribe at $6.42 per box in my opinion.

        • I did that last year (30% off for Aces) to get a second sub, but I soon noticed that I was getting too many repeats, so I consolidated my two into one sub, basically tacking on the extra months to the end of the current sub. (It was cool that Birchbox did that for me.) Then when they announced the points system changes, I bailed, and they refunded me the remainder of both subs (what I actually paid, not the full value). I was one foot out the door anyway. I don’t even think for under $7 a box, it’s worthwhile anymore. (Sorry to be a bummer.)

      • How many of us will get ACE status next year without being able to earn points for reviews? I doubt most people will spend $500 in their shop, just saying!

        • Agreed!

  6. Somebody talk me out of this
    quick !!

    • No Points. 😉

      • I know I hate that too

        But….
It seems like a good deal still

        Anymore ??

        • Um their samples are tiny and I’m pretty sure they’ve stopped taking your profile into account?

I was one of BB’s biggest supporters for years…. but they’ve totally gone down the drain.

        • Repeats of stuff constantly that makes me think it’s old stock. They can’t get new subs easily and aren’t changing anything to make people want to shop with them. They’ll fold.

        • If you look at RV it’s definitely worth it, but I always think a good deciding factor is what you think the personal value of the products you’ll be receiving will be to you. Have you subscribed to BB before? If not, it could be an economical way to try it, but a full year is a long time… especially if you decide you don’t like it after a few months.

I’ve personally really enjoyed BB, but I will most likely be cancelling once my annual is up, only because while I enjoy the products I’ve received, and find them very useful, I find I’m not as excited about the products as when I first subscribed, so I plan on trying a different route with my beauty subs next year.

        • Ok
Glad I didn’t rush into anything

I will also hold off on better deal
Thanks ?? everyone for all the info !!?

        • I think if you are asking us this, you probably have enough beauty products to last you for a while. 😛

          • Hahaha
            Yep you nailed it !

    • You have enough products!

      Oh, wait…that’s me! LOL 🙂

      • Ha ha ha!!!! That’s me too! But does that stop me??? Pfft! No! 😀

        • I hear ya! Trying to talk myself out of subbing to the SweatyBox now!

I think I’m trying to compensate for some kind of major, recent disappointment I may have suffered yesterday. 🙁

Oh why can’t Target or somebody announce a great colab box today! Why!?! 😀

          • Oddly I am having the opposite reaction. Can’t get the enthusiasm to spend any money at all, which is usually how I deal with very bad things…either that or eating, but I’m not hungry.

    • Right?? I’m a new BB subscriber and also get Ipsy and Sephora Play. I like BB in that I get more hair and body products while Ipsy has always been more makeup. I was only going to sub through possibly February for my birthday month, but if theres a great BF deal I will probably sign up. Please talk me down from the ledge!

      • I know lol
        Will wait for better deal

I love ipsy and play and also just sub to So Choix
Which am really excited to try ?

    • No Points. It’s only saving $11 over the course of a regular annual sub price of $110. They will likely have a better deal. If not, get Sephora Play or one of the other $10 boxes. Did that help? 🙂

      • Yes ty
        Y’all ladies are awesome ?
This is a blog/support group for subaholics lol

I do have ipsy , play & love them

    • Okay, I’ll do my best…last year they had a Gilt special with birchbox, plus GILT threw an extra 30% off. Making my monthly box, something like $5.60 a box.

ALSO, Birchbox isn’t the rockstar she used to be. The UK box Look Fantastic and Art of Organics, has the best customer service. They have really won me over.

  7. Hahahahahahaha. Oh Birchbox.

    • LOL! no.

      • Go home Birchbox, you’re drunk!

$11 less a year for a box that has only gotten worse and worse? That’s so precious. Maybe the free box will just be full of Harvey Prince perfume samples.

        • And mascara. They don’t send enough mascara.

          /sarcasm
