  1. Andalou and W3LL People, YES! But L’Oreal and Revlon, NO! Goal is to move toward cruelty free in 2017, and L’Oreal and Revlon are known and long-time animal testers. I believe Laneige is too. Even if they proclaim they only test where required by law (often meaning they choose to sell in China, so are required to animal test), they could make a conscious decision not to do so. I’d love to see more brands like Andalou and W3LL People (and Pacifica, Nourish Organics, etc.) in these boxes.

I also agree with people commenting about too many black eyeliners, when I prefer brown or deep purple. When you get a bit older, black eyeliner can often look harsh and messy rather than chic and sleek. Mascara primer adds another step I don’t have time for in the mornings. Hoping for next time, although I have to say I was tempted by the Andalou and W3LL People products… Maybe I’ll just save the money and purchase those brands on their own.

    • Agree with everything here. I also recently went cruelty-free, which has the added benefit of having to actually look at the products before automatically hitting “purchase”!

    • I feel the same way about animal testing. I quit selling Avon because they sell in China and therefore are not completely cruelty free.

  2. Is it just me, or are these boxes getting more expensive and less interesting. I am also p.o.’d that I didn’t get a notification for the baby box last month. I really wanted to pick one of those up :/

    • Same, same & same.

  3. This month is another pass for me as well.

  4. Skipped last month’s box, but grabbed two of these! 😀

I’m a sucker for masks of any kind and I’m almost out of lash primer. Any moisture-rich conditioner is always a win for me (even if it is a foil pack). Really looking forward to trying W3LL and 1000 roses.

I’m pretty excited about this one! Thanks Liz! 🙂

  5. I bought several of these (3 in October, 2 this month and hopefully a few of the December box when they become available). I’ve used the included $3 coupons in store and stacked them with the frequent promo of a free $5 gift Target gift card with a health and beauty purchase throughout the year and other common items (laundry detergent).

With the acquired group of free $5 Target gifts I’ve purchased $10 Starbucks gift cards and plan to tuck them in the beauty box and gift them as teacher’s gifts this year.

    • Great idea!

    • My last box didn’t have the coupon :/

      • You reminded me that mine didn’t, either. Target CS sent me a $5 gift card.

  6. Thanks for posting Liz! I can’t believe that it didn’t even occur to me that this box could go on sale today!

I’ll use everything in this box, except for the eyeliner & brightener. But, I’m happy to see Target now sells W3LL! I didn’t even know they sold that brand. I’m also really excited to see the L’Oreal primer in the box. I’m actually using that right now with the L’Oreal Voluminous mascara. I really like the primer, and if I ever finally finish going through all of the primers I’ve received in boxes, GWP, beauty deals, etc., this will now be my go-to primer. Clinique’s Lash Building Primer was my original HG, but I think L’Oreal’s works just as good, and it’s so much cheaper. I just wish other drugstore brands would come out with stand alone primers too! (I see some that are connected to mascaras, but I want a primer on its own.)

    • Thanks for the info on the primer Luna! I’ve been using Lancôme primer & mascara for years, but thanks to Liz’ recommendation, I switched to Tarte mascara (love it!). If the L’Oréal primer works well, I’ll be super happy as it is so much cheaper.

  7. I’ve skipped the past few but this one actually works for me, except for the eyeliner, assuming it’s black – but just one item I can’t use is unusual. I have fine, thin hair so the shampoo is good for me, the hair mask might make my hair too soft but I’ll try it, the mascara primer is MUCH more useful than another black mascara, and the brightener and skin care products are good. The Andalou day cream will probably go in my travel bag.

    • …and may I add, delighted to get a box without a lipstick in a color that’s totally useless to me

      • Amen to that!! Lol

    • I have thin fine hair too. Try using the mask before shampooing instead of after.

  8. Skipping this month. Nothing that I really want to try except the sheet mask.

  9. It worth $10 , ipsy same price and more samples .

  10. Sigh. Passing again! Target, I miss getting your boxes every month. What has happened to you? The only thing I’d really like is the eyeliner. I bought the Ipsy deal with several sheet masks, a couple of weeks ago, so I don’t need that one. I have enough travel/sample shampoos & conditioners to travel around the world and not run out. I “might” have bit if it was $5 or $7, but this isn’t up to par with previous $10 Target boxes.

I’m gonna stay hopeful that the December box will be worth it!

    • Ditto! Fingers crossed for the December box. This does not wow me for $10.

  11. Perfect timing for me as I use the L’Oréal primer everyday and I’d be buying a new one in a month anyway. I’m happy to get the Analou Rose Cream to try, and I know my hubby will grab that L’Oreal shampoo for his thinning hair in a flash!
Not every Target box appeals to me, but this one I will use everything. Plus we get a $3 coupon right?
    AWESOME!

  12. I’ve skipped the last few months after typically racing to buy two boxes.. and skipping this one, too. The L’Oreal shampoo might be okay but it’s a .50 cent item. I have become very choosy about my day creams since investing in beauty subs the last few years so I really don’t need to try a random one at this point, the HASK Keratin Protein conditioner is something I’d use immediately but I can buy it at Target for $1.99, pass on anything from Laneige since I found that their ingredients (when I can even find them listed) cause clogged pores for me, have numerous Brightener Sticks and illuminating creams/powders from sub boxes this year, don’t need/use a lash Primer, and I already have a dozen eye liners, thanks very much. There. I just talked myself out of the entire box. Not that hard, either! 🙂 If you’re new to sub boxes this is a good place to start, but if you’ve received boxes for even a year or two, Target has become an easy pass, month after month. A very quickly outgrown box. The upside is you know what you’re getting for your ten bucks, thanks to Liz. Informed buying is best in this case.

  13. Pass. The only thing I’m interested in would be the sheet mask and with their $10 price tag this month I just can’t justify.

    Dear Target,
I miss you. I think this is month 3 that you hadn’t come to my door. It’s been so long that I didn’t even remember you’d be popping up online early this morning. Please go back to the way you once were so that we can continue our relationship.

    • LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOVE IT!

  14. Easy pass. For $10 Tagret has to compete with great boxes like Ipsy and Birchbox. This box isn’t even worth the $7 price tag that I was expecting. This is just embarrassing, Target. Also, what ever happened to the Men’s box?

    • I’m with you….easy pass! Too expensive for not many items (or many good items) I would have loved to get that mens box but I guess they stopped everyones order? Strange.

  15. Passing on this one and happy about it — could spend (or save) the $10 better elsewhere. I do like Laneige and Andalou, but I don’t wear mascara primers (and don’t want to try ANYTHING that would create an extra step in my day) and typically do not wear eyeliner (and have many stockpiled). A little curious about the W3ll people brightener but I have way too many highlighters/brighteners as it is — wondering if it’s the stick (as described) or the powder (as pictured), but will wait for your review to find out. Thanks for the heads up!

    • I have seen this in other boxes, the sample is a cream highlight that comes in a pot. It’s the same formula as the stick.

  16. Will be passing up this month’s box. They keep going up on the price and putting less samples and full size products in the box! IT has gone from $5 to $7 and now $10!!? With less products and not very appealing ones either?!! NO THANKS.

  17. Fourth month in a row I’m passing. Not enough value and a repeat.

  18. Hmmm…I never got an email alert from Liz even though I’m signed up. I woke up early though since I figured it might come out today, checked my app and ordered one anyway.

    • Hi Nan,

I just checked our email host, and the Target email was sent to your email address at 5:52 AM. I’m wondering if it went to spam? Sorry about that! But glad to hear you got the box!

      • Thanks so much for checking on that. I finally found it in my spam folder. Darned email accounts!

I really appreciate all the effort you put into this site for us. I don’t have enough hours in the day to keep up with it, so glad that you can do it for me lol.

        • Ok know right Liz is awesome

  19. I ordered one after skipping the last 2 months. Target was by far my favorite beauty box purchase but they’ve really gone down hill over the last 6 months IMO – repeat or badly reviewed items and increasing prices. I really wish they’d send out surveys or even look at their own stats; these boxes used to sell out in hours but the last few have been around for at least 1 full day if not longer.

  20. I am obsessed with sheet masks, but for $10, I can buy 15 masks on ebay! Everything else in this box I already own several times over, so it’s another pass for me.

  21. This is the first beauty box I ordered in months at first I wasn’t going to but I went through the site and most of these items have great reviews. I already use the revlon eyeliner and really like it and I’m excited to try the mascara primer sheet mask, and the hair mask, everything else looks good too !

  22. I got one! just for the Laneige mask. I have fallen in love with this brand and im soooo happy target offers it in most of their beauty boxes.

as for the rest , ill use some and the rest will be stocking stuffers ??? i have 2 teen nieces and a sister that love anything beauty related

  23. Is there not a men’s box available now? This one is a very easy pass for $10.

    • yes the men box came out a couple days ago, it’s called the target: his holiday beauty box…5$

      • The men’s holiday box that appeared on Target’s website recently appeared to be from last year. It seemed to be a glitch in the system because orders were immediately canceled. No word yet as to whether or when there will be one this year.

    • Sara, they had a men’s box the other day for $5, but it sold out quickly.

      • A bunch of people had orders go through only to be cancelled. No official word from Target about it, but considering the cancellation of orders and the fact that the contents were exactly the same as last year’s men’s holiday beauty box, the understanding is that it was a mistake that it went live at all.

        • Ohhhh! I didn’t realize that! Target seems to have had several glitches with their beauty boxes in the last couple of months.

          • No kidding! Between coupons not working and shipping charges being added, then the men’s box issues, I was shocked that buying this box worked for me without issue. I admit that I didn’t use my coupon from last month because I’d already used it in-store, though.

      • Oh, sorry, I didn’t see that the issue had already been covered. Ignore me!

  24. I bought the Target baby box (should’ve gotten TWO!) but I honestly can’t remember the last time I bought a Beauty box… June, maybe?
Such an easy pass. $10?!? Please, Target. You make it too easy.

    • I agree with this. $10!?! for this!?! My $5 Walmart box quarterly is better than this. I cannot remember the last time I picked up a Target box. Usually I can get there in time and just not buy it because of the products. Target will still sell them, so they won’t “get” it…even though there are clearly a lot of us turned off by these Target boxes lately.

      • This! Yes!
They sell out every time so they’ve clearly got an audience.
In the meantime, I’ll sit here silently judging them & complaining on MSA forums like the badass I am ?

  25. I got one after skipping the last two! I don’t think this one is that exciting, but I will use almost everything in the box. I’m especially looking forward to trying the mascara primer and the Laneige soothing gel mask.

  26. I would love to try this primer, or any one that at works (the Grande one from the allure box left me with white clumps) but the subscription box clutter is unbelievable. I seriously need to stop, so pass.

  27. Nope. I think this is the fourth month in a row I’ve passed.

  28. There was a time when I would have put a Target Beauty box (or two) in my shopping cart and not think twice and check out as fast as I could. Now I seriously pause when looking at the items, I have not been thrilled with the contents and the rising price of the boxes. I will pass on this one sadly, I will not buy it just to have it and hope next month will be awesome.

  29. I was so excited it was beauty box day…I am actually disappointed in this one. I have been buying these for two of my daughters, who love make up. They would like the eyeliner. Everything else in this is okay…for me….I love sheet masks, but I still have about 5 in my closet. I already have lash primer…I just don’t need this box for $10. I don’t think the items are worth the price in a beauty box. For $10, I will go back to Birchbox (cancelled because I was getting too many, but it is still my favorite for that price point).

  30. I, too, was going to pass but when I looked up the products I figured I’d go for it. If the L’Oreal primer works for me I’ll be happy as it’s only $6 and I can switch from the pricier Dior. And I really want to try the W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick although it does come in powder form and that’s what the photo appears to be (although the description says otherwise) so I guess I’m getting my $10 worth. Plus I’m a sucker for sheet masks. Had never heard of them before MSA but now I love them!

  31. Would have rather seen last years men’s box. Skipping.
Not enough value for me this month as I won’t use most of it.

  32. First time in months that I just bought only one. Hmmm, can’t put my finger on exactly why?

  33. Easy pass for me. I don’t mind paying $10.00 for stuff I can use. The only thing in this Box I would use is the Laneige mask. I don’t need anything else

  34. This is the best Target box in ages (eyeliner aside, of course) – Ordered.

  35. It’s a pass for me at $10.

  36. Passing this one up this time

  37. Thanks for the heads up! I picked one up although I too dislike the upward trend of Target box pricing. I’m not super thrilled with the contents (a one-use of conditioner and more shampoo samples, bleh) but I did actually need eye liner (I obviously don’t get enough subscription boxes if I’m not swimming in them like most people!) and I love sheet masks so figured it wouldn’t be a terrible value. I’ll try the mascara primer but it’s not something I see myself re-purchasing (an extra routine step?).

    • With the exception of your comment about eyeliner (I’m drowning in eyeliner), I could have written this comment! The primer is fine. I’ll use it. I’m currently using a Benefit mascara primer with a Benefit mascara (both from sub boxes), and it’s OK. I’m using it because why not, but I wouldn’t seek it out on its own. I apply the primer, then do lipstick, then come back and finish with mascara.

I agree that I’m not sure I’m feeling the $10 price point without better contents (I would love more Laneige, no joke); however, I still caved. I’m only buying one, though. I usually end up buying two (or one of each variation, if there’s more than one).

But hey, at least they got the no shipping right! And hopefully y’all’s coupons are working (I used mine already).

      • I meant to say “I do love more Laneige, no joke”

        No option to edit *sigh*

    • I recently fell in love with this lash primer. I use They’re Real! mascara normally, and I used to use the Urban Decay Subversion which I liked – it conditioned my lashes and kept them healthy (so they didn’t fall out when removing mascara at the end of the day). I have tried the Lancome primer too, but I didn’t love the brush on it. I actually think I will continue to purchase the L’Oreal primer because the brush on it it great!

I just curl my lashes, put primer on both eyes and then go onto mascara. I don’t necessarily wait for it to dry.

I was considering purchasing this because I like the sheet mask and the primer, but I’m not super excited about the box overall. :/

  38. Only including the shampoo without the matching conditioner (or vice-versa) is one of my biggest beauty box pet peeves! Starting to see that a little too often these days …

    • I have to agree with this. I think it was two months ago that you got one or the other. I ordered two boxes and hoped to get one of each, but I got two shampoos ?

  39. Easy pass, again. I do like the fact you know what you’re getting and can decide ahead of time! I use to get every target box, but they seem so bleh lately.

    • This is one of the reasons why I am glad that Target doesn’t do a subscription service. It’s always something extra to think about on a random Monday morning super early (though I wake up at 5:30 Eastern, so no biggie to me), but I was “meh” about this box. I ordered anyway, but at least buying it is my choice. I might’ve been miffed if it were worse, and I was locked into it.

  40. Like some others, I am disappointed this is a $10 box. Doesn’t quite seem up to par with some of the $10 Target boxes of the past. I will however still get my money’s worth out of it as I will use all of the products, and I am pretty excited to try a mascara primer. Probably the only part of my face that hasn’t had primer applied haha.

    • I bought it, but I agree that this price point is high, given the contents. Maybe if they threw a body pouf in there or some good hair ties (I miss having those in these boxes), it would feel more worth the $10.

  41. Another one I am passing out. This is the 3rd in a row.

  42. I had it in my cart but decided against it. I don’t need anymore shampoo and conditioner samples and mascara primer is too heavy for my lashes. I was excited about the face mask, but I have tons and Laneige makes me break out. I’ll save my pennies for black friday deals!

    • Dido

    • Ditto.. lol I work nights, im TIRED!!

  43. Got one! Thanks for rhe heads up!

  44. I grabbed one, mostly for the Voluminous Primer which I was planning on buying soon anyway. I hope the eyeliner isn’t black.I have enough black eyeliner to last ten lifetimes. I do wish they had included the matching conditioner to the shampoo. I hate when we just get one or the other.

    • I hate when they do that, too, but the Keratin Protein packet is a deep conditioner you can use with it. That’s what I’m going to do.

  45. Why is it when I’m actually up and can buy these, they aren’t full of things I want? Ugh!

  46. The w3ll product shown doesn’t look like the stick lol it’s a sample form in tub? W3’ll product n the adalou is 16$ the other proucts I calculated about $22

  47. Pass…

  48. I got one, although these have gotten pretty meh, especially for $10. You’d think that with all of the products that Target carries they’d opt for some never-sampled items for people to try. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll use everything in this box, but this box isn’t going to lead me to buy any new products.

  49. Hmm 10.00 this time they just keep going up in price .Its like there saying how much will these crazy sub people pay bahaaaa

    • Thanks Liz,
I ordered one this month, after having skipped the last two months. I am not really sure why as this box is not very exciting. I used to order two or more of every Target box, but not anymore they just aren’t as great as they used to be. Hopefully Target is listening…..

    • Thanks for always letting us know but I’m passing this time ,I’m out of my Blink primer it’s 26.00 so I’ll just get that and call it a happy day

    • Thanks for always letting us know about these offers but I’m passing this time .Im out of blink primer and it 26.00 so I’ll just buy that for myself and call it a day

  50. Thanks Liz!
I grabbed one… but they’re really not as great as they used to be. I expected a little more for $10. I was going to pass, but decided to grab one anyways

    • I agree, I got one but normally would expect more from a $10 Target box. I’d love to see them bring back Acure products, though I love that they’re branching out in Laneige products (which I do love). Target is what got me hooked on Acure and Laneige, which has been their evil plan all along!
