Rescue Box is a subscription box for dogs or cats. For dogs, choose from small (up to 20 pounds), medium (20-50 pounds), and large (50+ pounds). This is a review of the large dog box. For reference, my dog Nyx is an 84-pound Rottweiler. Rescue box is associated with Greater Good (the folks who brought you The Hunger Site, The Animal Rescue Site, and more) and your purchase of a subscription will help provide food and vaccines to shelter pets!

Rescue Box Mouse Pad – Value $7.95?

I do actually use a mouse pad at work but I have something else in mind for this. I have recently gotten into metal stamping and wire wrapping (for jewelry making) and you can use a mouse pad under your bench block to protect your table and reduce noise from all the hammering. Since I don’t know where any of my other mouse pads are, this comes at a good time. (I couldn’t find this exact one on the Animal Rescue Site, but another animal print mouse pad was for sale for the price listed above.)

Pet Qwerks Flavorit Sweet Potato Toy (XL) – Value $11.99

This has little indentations where you can put peanut butter or something. Thankfully, Nyx’s wet food has a kind of similar texture to peanut butter, so she will still be able to enjoy this (peanut butter is off limits for her, sadly).

All for Paws BBQ Grillers “Mush Potato” – Value $11.35

This is super cute, and it lasted longer than expected. (Of course, ultimately, no plush toy is safe with Nyx…) There are a bunch of other toys in the same product line including leeks and corn on the cob.

Loving Pets Natural Value Puffed Potato and Chicken Chip Recipe (2 oz) – Value $1

It is hard to find these in stock online (the above link is to the Dollar Tree website, which I did not even know existed before today). They are pretty lightweight and should be low calorie, so good for training. They are made in the US, which is also nice.

High Hopes XOXO Triple Cheese Baked Treat for Dogs (1.75 oz) – Value $1.99

These are free of wheat, corn, and soy, but they do contain oat flour and rice flour so they are not grain free. In addition to three types of cheese, they have a little bacon and some eggs. The company that makes these donates a portion of the proceeds to help homeless pets.

All right, so I went a little nuts with the dog photos this month:

Verdict: I calculated a value of $34.28 for October's Rescue Box. That is somewhat above the month-to-month cost of the box, and this month worked a little better than last month for Nyx and for me in terms of the items, as well (no items that required a smartphone to use, plus lower-value treats and higher-value toys is better for dogs with allergies and food issues).

There are quite a few dogs with that color pattern, including Rotties, Doberman Pinschers, some Dachshunds, some Australian Shepherds, some Tibetan Mastiffs, some Chihuahuas, Miniature Pinschers, and some hounds including Coonhounds. (I actually had no idea how many until I looked it up just now.)

Nyx howls when people walk by on the street although it’s not quite hound-quality…tonight is going to be interesting with kids ringing the doorbell every few minutes.
