purr-packs-october-2016-card

Instead of a traditional information card, this month there was a card with a URL where you can find out more about the items in the box.

purr-packs-october-2016-squirrel

Before we get started, there was a ton of catnip in the box with the orange squiggly paper. So that is all the debris you see in the background. Also, Mr. Kitty hissed at me when I tried to move him. So he (or his tail) is in most of the photos.

Ethical Pet Jumbo Skinneeez for Cats Squirrel – Value $2.39

These are big and soft and, since they are free of stuffing, surprisingly lightweight. Also, it is nice to see a large cat toy that isn’t super expensive.

Zanies Mylar Ball – Value $0.65

Mr. Kitty used to be the mylar fan in my house, but Monkey claimed this during our photo session. If your cat likes these, you can buy huge canisters of them for not much money.

Multipet “Look Who’s Talking” Frog – Value $1.95

This thing is pretty loud and it definitely got the cats’ attention. I have been putting it on a high shelf at night because it starts making noise at the slightest touch. (For the record, the frog and duck from this product line sound basically the same.)

purr-packs-october-2016-treats

Feline Greenies Dental Treats in Catnip Flavor (2.5 oz) – Value $1.94

These were hard treats (as most “dental” treats are). Monkey, Madison, and Sneaky all enjoyed them. Of course, Mr. Kitty, who actually has dental problems, can’t have them due to his IBD. He REALLY wanted them and I felt so bad keeping them away from him.

Merrick Backcountry Freeze Dried Raw Chicken Treats (1 oz) – Value $2.49

This product is new to me. Sneaky used to eat Merrick food and I always thought it was a pretty good brand. My guys (and gal) have been more into freeze dried meat lately than they used to be, so this worked for us.

purr-packs-october-2016-scratchpad

Extra Large Scratch Pad – Value $10?

These are exclusive to Purr Packs so the value is an estimate. My cats weren’t willing to leave this alone so I don’t have a photo of the item by itself. I have so many scratch pads now, whenever a new one comes, I survey the collection for the rattiest one and recycle it, putting the new one in its place.

purr-packs-october-2016-owl

Savvy Tabby Luxe Faux Fur Mice (2 pack) – Value $3.77

My cats preferred the one with feathers (naturally). These are soft and lightweight and I’d call them “medium” on the cat toy size scale.

Categories Owl Kicker – Value $5.99

My cats are not so interested in the kicker/wrestler type toys (but I know a lot of cats are). However, this one has FEATHERS and that definitely helped in terms of interest.

purr-packs-october-2016-mustaches

Mad Cat Moustaches (2 pack) – Value $5.98

These have both catnip and feline silvervine (a plant that many cats react to in a similar manner to catnip). I have gotten quite a few items from this brand now and I am happy every time I see it in a box (even though I’ve received the moustaches before). Now if someone would send me the bacon and egg in a box, I’d be very happy. (The taco was a huge hit with Madison and the mushroom is pretty cute too.) My cats love these things – Madison and Monkey especially, although Sneaky was totally into the moustaches this time as well.

Zanies Skedaddles Centipede – Value $6.57

I probably would not have known this was supposed to be a centipede if not for the product label. It is adorable and that is the last word I would ever use to describe an actual centipede. This has a string you pull to make it move. For some reason, I could only get this to move backwards, but I guess that is OK. (Typically it is ME moving backwards when I see a centipede. Backwards all the way to a can of Raid.)

Gratuitous cat photos ahead…

purr-packs-october-2016-madison1

Madison claims both the moustache toys.

purr-packs-october-2016-madison2

Enjoying one of the treats. At least MADISON doesn’t bite or scratch me when I do this…

purr-packs-october-2016-monkey1

Monkey looks so sweet and gentle here.

purr-packs-october-2016-monkey2

Monkey inspecting the centipede toy.

purr-packs-october-2016-monkey3

Monkey was batting the mylar ball all over the inside of the box.  As soon as he knocked it out he would look at me with sad eyes until I gave it back to him.

purr-packs-october-2016-monkey4

Monkey really didn’t want to get out of the box.  He stayed there for like an hour.

purr-packs-october-2016-sneaky1

Sneaky looks angry here.

purr-packs-october-2016-sneaky2

I had to give her like 5 treats before I got anything at all close to a good picture. She scratches, too! (And poor Mr. Kitty. He REALLY wanted a treat but isn’t allowed to have them due to his IBD.)

purr-packs-october-2016-sneaky3

What you don’t see is the moustache toy underneath her. She was rolling all over the top of it.

purr-packs-october-2016-sparkles1

Mr. Kitty likes the mylar ball.

purr-packs-october-2016-sparkles2

Mr. Kitty posing with the moustache. He sat down here and did not want to move, so you see parts of him in most of the item photos.

purr-packs-october-2016-sparkles3

Mr. Kitty with the noisy frog toy.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $42 for the October 2016 Purr Packs box. That is a little above the cost of the box. But wow, was there A LOT of stuff in the box this month. I kept searching through the orange crinkle paper and finding more and more toys. (Plus, the box itself, laced with catnip as it was, should probably count as an additional toy since Monkey got so much enjoyment out of it.) The items were a big hit with my crew and I didn’t even mind that I’d received some of the toys in other boxes in the past. It’s all “new” to my cats!

Is anyone else just here for the cute kitties? I can’t afford to spend this much on a monthly box for my kitty, but yours are so cute I can’t resist looking at these reviews lol

Do you know if you get the scratch pad with the $30.00 box also? I have 5 cats and they love these things. Like yours, they like to sleep on them too! I also have a bully breed dog (Staffordshire Terrier) so I feel like we are kindred spirits, lol!

Ava

I have the $25 box and it came with a scratch pad so I would think the $30 box would as well 🙂

I don’t know if the scratch pad comes with the $30 box. But, they seem to post on their Facebook page fairly often so if you have a Facebook account you might try asking them there.

I have a kitty and he is spoiled. Anyway I don’t see anything in this box that I can’t get a pet store truthfully. The made in the US is really great but I feel that I could grab alot of these goodies myself. This box isn’t cheap either and plus the shipping cost too. I am not saying my kitty wouldnt love the box and its really for him..Oh welll your kitties look like they are having fun. They both are adorable.
