Orglamix is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty subscription containing loose shadows, glitter pigments, aromatherapy roll-ons, and more. Many of the items in the subscription will be unique to the subscription and not available in the Orglamix shop (although they will have the same great formula).

I like the new boxes, by the way!

The box came with an information card detailing the items for October. The theme was “Brewhaha.”

orglamix-october-2016-fragrance

New Moon Room Spray – Listed Value $16

If you read the information card, this talks about the new moon being a good time to set intentions and manifesting desires. I have to admit, I have never been much into the whole school of thought that uses language like that (I am a scientist after all) but I do think this freshens the air a little in my basement after I work out. Notes include white sage, lemon, and lime, all of which seem quite clean to me!

Perfume Potion with a Halloween Theme – Value $12

Different scents went out; mine was called “Zombie Apocalypse.” Who knew the zombie apocalypse would smell like flowers? Anyway, perfume oils are an Orglamix staple and you will often get limited edition ones like this, with this subscription. (Side note: they need to spell check the page on their site with this product listing. Check out some of the spellings of “apocalypse.”)

orglamix-october-2016-mask

Mugwort Face Mask – Listed Value $12

When I first opened this box, the little pellet in the green package confused me. I have tried a lot of skincare items these past few years but I have never seen one of these. I guess you fill the green pod with the mask and the pellet expands  I just applied the mask like a toner, with a cotton ball, since that method was also described on the information card. (Also because there is much more liquid in the container than just a single use.)

Anyway, this had a medicinal smell (maybe that is the mugwort?) and also included aloe and witch hazel (hence using it as a toner). It is supposed to be good at clearing up acne but I think you would have to use it for a few weeks to see an effect, there.

orglamix-october-2016-pigments

Smokin’ Cauldron Mineral Eyeshadow – Listed Value $12

Loose mineral pigments are another Orglamix staple, and you will usually get at least one (and sometimes up to three). This gray is a great color for fall and I don’t have anything quite like it.

Spellbound Glitter Gloss – Listed Value $10

I am not sure what I think of this product. I don’t think there is any way I could use it as eyeshadow, despite what the label on the little jar says. I like the glitter, but there is too much of the “gloss.” My eyelids would be a sticky mess. Also, the glitter doesn’t seem evenly mixed in the gloss – I kept digging to get more color and just ended up with more goop. If you are ever looking for glittery lip gloss, though, that might be a good application for this product.

Here are swatches of the gloss (top) and mineral pigment (bottom).

orglamix-october-2016-scrub

Blood Orange Mint Walnut AHA Body Polish – Listed Value $15

I love scrubs and exfoliators. I also love the color and scent of blood oranges. Now, this smells a lot more like mint than blood orange (honestly, it is a bit of a strange combination), but I go through body scrubs so fast and I love that the first ingredient is walnut shell powder so this will get used. (I would be happy to get a large container of body scrub in every beauty subscription box…)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $62 for the October Orglamix subscription box. Granted, most of the items weren’t available on their website, but that is usually the case with this subscription, which consists mostly of limited edition shades and exclusive items. At a cost of $29 per month, you are paying just under $6 per item, which I think is entirely reasonable (the eyeshadows alone on their site typically cost $12, as do the perfume oil rollerballs). I thought the theme was fun this month and I liked that we weren’t stuck with an orange and black color scheme. I really do think Orglamix puts a lot of thought into the monthly box!

on another site, it showed how the mask dried to a sheet mask, which I thought was pretty cool.

Maybe that happens with the pellet in the green packet? I haven’t tried it that way yet, only with a cotton ball as a toner. I kind of wish there had been a little more description with respect to that use. I have never seen the pellet in a packet before.

I tried this box this month and also got Zombie Apocalypse, which I love, even though I don’t typically like powdery scents. I ordered Bohemian Halloween and Graveyard, and dislike them. I agree about the glitter gloss, and definitely a fan of the body polish!

I liked the box. I tried the room spray, I thought it smelled good. I will wait till the new moon to spray every room. Sage is supposed to clear out negative energy.
the gray shadow has specks of gold, which is different. I did not yet try the glitter, will pass it to my daughter,
The box was a win.
