mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-bag-2

Mail Bag by WeLoveFine – Value $35 (on sale for $3.99)

My husband claimed this bag instantly! It’s the perfect Man Bag.

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-boards

Melamine Cutting Boards – Value $12.98 (on sale for $1)

I received one of these cutting boards already in a previous package from MBoA, but it’s OK because they are great! I can never seem to have too many handy cutting boards. We do a lot of veggie chopping at my house!

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-duffel

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-duffel-2

Travel Duffel – Value $28 (on sale for $11.99)

What an unusual duffel bag! It folds up to a tiny size, but when you unfold it, there’s a big compartment on one side and an insulated compartment on the other. Plus there are loads of pockets! I’m still wrapping my head around this one.

Divided Storage Bowls (3-pack) – Value $22 (on sale for $2.49)

These bowls are just perfect for the kids’ lunches! Like all kids, they can’t stand for any food to be touching any other food!

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-pillow

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-pillow-2

Foam Pillow – Value $38.99 (on sale for $14.99)

This pillow is incredible. I’ve been using it, and it’s super soft but doesn’t lose depth. Win!

mystery-box-awesome-september-2016-sunscreen

Neutrogena CoolDry Sunscreen – Value $11.99 (on sale for $5.99)

Wow, I thought my days of getting sunscreen in subscription boxes were finally on hold for the season! We are in a surplus at the moment, but since we have so much nice weather during the fall and winter, we tend to go through it, so I’m sure this will come in handy.

Verdict: I sometimes feel like it’s worth the $25 just to see what I’m going to get every month from the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome, it’s so much fun! This was a particularly good and useful month. The pillow rules! We will use everything else from the box except I’m not totally sure about the duffel yet.

What do you think of the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome? What did you get?

  1. I really, really wanted that over the shoulder bag and the travel duffel. Instead I got the Aerocore lumbar set and the insulated tumbler. Darn. Hopefully I can get a trade going for the two items.

I love the melamine cutting boards!

And why does the sun screen expire in 02/17? We get it after summer is over but not usuable for next summer? I guess it would be perfect for skiers and snow boarders. So putting this up for swap.

  2. I paid the extra $10, got the crappy pillow, a laptop bag, sunscreen, and the lumbar cushion. That’s it, was not worth the $$$

  3. I got the golla bag that they sent in August =\ do not need… up for swap. Otherwise, that pillow was awful. Ah well, I liked the sunscreen [though it won’t get used till June now], but I got the same box as Shar with a wood looking popup box and an herb chopper. Wasn’t really worth the $34.99 instead of the $24.99, and I canceled, but I still like looking at the random stuff in the boxes.

  4. This is the best box I have seen yet from these people. My boyfriend would screamed like girl if he pulled that big bag out of one of my supscription boxes. Normally I just come on this page to laugh out loud at peoples comments .It’s PriceLess… ?

  5. Hi Anna! As soon as I saw that duffle bag, i fell in love. I travel often and one of my favorite things to do is bring back unique souvenirs. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to buy a bag to transport them. This duffle is perfect to pack in your suite case in case you need additional storage. I just might have to look for one on the swap site. ? I’d also keep it in my keep for times I’m out driving in Colorado and see cool things in nature to collect. The Aspen trees drop beautiful leaves every fall!
As always, thank you for the great review. I don’t subscribe, but I just might have to in the future!!!
    Many blessings.

    • **keep in in my Jeep ?

    • I received the lumbar cooling seat cushion set instead of the duffel bag. This has been my favorite box for me so far, too bad this will be my last, I cancelled last month 🙁

Cool use for cutting boards….I put one in my downstairs bathroom on the toilet tank and put all my little bottles of lotions/etc on top, and put the other one on my dresser and did the same thing. I don’t like the “feel” of them for a cutting board, and mine were so cute (one more blue and one more yellow) they fit right into my décor.

  6. Hello Fresh coupons are like 2016’s answer to AOL CDs.

    • that’s fantastic

    • LMFAO

    • Best comment EVER!

  7. I got the same exact box as in the review. It wasn’t my favorite month, honestly, but my son was very happy with the pillow as he has been needing one. I’ll be swapping the duffel, the mail bag, the cutting boards, and the sunscreen for sure. Now to decide if I should keep the sub or take a break. I do love the randomness and that I can use most of the items most months, but I feel like I could be using the money elsewhere too.

  8. This is my first box, and I didn’t get most of what everyone else got. I got the foam pillow and the sunscreen, but none of the other items. Instead I got the lumbar cooling seat cushion, a cardboard storage box that was very small (about the size of a shoe box) and a wooden bowl/herb chopper set. Not to excited about most of the items. This may be my only box. Not thrilled with Sunscreen in October. We will have snow soon and we don’t really need sunscreen until next summer.

  9. I get the Upgrade Box and mine was the same as yours except I didn’t get the Travel Duffel. My “extras” were the Outdoor Lantern and Off Insect Repellant with 2 refill cannisters. I like the surprise aspect but for the last 2 months it seems like the Standard Box was a better value…

    • I got the same thing…i know.. that is the last time i am paying the 10$ upgrade…im wondering if i should contact them, i feel cheated!~

    • I did the Upgrade just once and went back to the regular box. It just isn’t worth the extra $$ in my opinon.

  10. I got the same box and the led lantern light since i pay the extra $10. Always cool useful things. The lantern is perfect to add to my collection because we lose power in my neighborhood at least 3-4 times a year. My son and husband love to see the items each year, and except for the weird raft air pump of a few months ago, almost everything we have gotten is used on a regular basis.

  11. I received the Aerocore lumbar pillow instead of the travel duffle. I get the mini mystery box too. I always like checking your reviews too :D. I like the bigger mystery box so much better than the mini, but I love the surprises too much to stop.

  12. I received an identical box as yours but since I paid the $34 I received a outdoor led light with battery . All new all I’d say this month was better then last month except for the free laptop bag I received upon sign up .

  13. Better value the pop sugar that’s for sure. Yes pop sugar may bill their items as high end but really who pays 58$ for umbrella and how many mugs do you need? This is much better. For the price this box would be a fun way to spend my money. IMHO

    • My issue with PopSugar was usability–why oh why would I need a Bingo set? Most people don’t need a Bingo set LOL> Some stuff was cool, but not at the price point. I usually get $25 worth of usability out of this box, even if some things don’t work for me.

  14. its not just kids who don’t want their food to touch!

    • Lol Kim!

    • You are another member of my tribe!

  15. I did not get the mail bag or the duffel. I got an Aerocore automotive cooling seat cushion and lumbar pillow at $15.00 at Sam’s and a 16 ounce Cool Gear drink bottle that looks like an aluminum soda can at $9.99 on their site. For some reason, I don’t feel like the box is complete until I come here and see the review too. I usually get a decent amount of use from what I get, and I agree the best part is never knowing what it will be!

    • Got the same box as you! And love seeing the reviews.

      • Awesome! Thanks y’all!
