The box came with this information card, which basically directs you to their website. I have to admit, I liked the old brochures more – you could instantly tell which snacks were vegan, gluten free, etc. Now you have to read the tiny print of the ingredients lists, instead.

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-coupons-copy

There are also usually some coupons for the included products and/or some product literature. There were quite a few this month, including for a free full size bag of Beanitos!

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-apples

Brothers All Natural Freeze Dried Fruit Crisps: Sliced Fuji Apples (0.18 oz) – Value $1.10

These were pretty standard freeze dried apples. I like the low calories and single ingredient. The Disney imagery doesn’t appeal so much to me but I suppose it might do more for people who are parents! (I do kind of object to paying over $1 for something with only 20 calories, though.)

Walker’s Pure Butter Shortbread Cookies (1 oz) – Value $0.65

I’ve had these quite a few times before and they are one of my favorite types of packaged cookies (and I don’t honestly like a lot of packaged cookies). There is SO MUCH BUTTER in these. Which is probably why I like them.

Brown and Haley Almond Roca: Buttercrunch Toffee (0.42 oz) – Value $0.63

I feel like I’ve had this before, too. It is a lovely combination of toffee and chocolate and nut coating so I was happy to receive another one.

Beanitos White Bean Chips in Garden Fresh Salsa (0.7 oz) – Value $0.42

Beanitos White Bean Chips in Sweet Chili & Sour Cream (0.7 oz) – Value $0.42

I’ll talk about these together. I do like Beanitos chips, but I get either them or Beanfield’s almost every month in a subscription box. I appreciate receiving new flavors (well, mostly, the garden fresh salsa ones were in Vegan Cuts last month). I think the sweet chili and sour cream flavor was my favorite.

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-chips

One Potato Two Potato Sweet Potato Chips “Plain Jaynes” (2 oz) – Value $1.25

Potato chips are a weakness of mine. I split this bag with my husband because it contained two servings for a total of 300 calories. These were exactly what you would expect from sweet potato chips – a little savory and delicious!

Lundberg Rice Chips in Sea Salt (1.5 oz) – Value $0.77

I’ll preface this by saying I love Lundberg rice; it’s my preferred brand and I buy it frequently from Whole Foods. But I’m not sold on the texture of these chips; it is too much like cardboard. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot else going for the sea salt flavored ones. Perhaps if you have to eat gluten free, you would have a different opinion.

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-crackers

Dick & Jane Educational Snacks (Presidents, 1 oz x 2 bags) – Value $1.60

These were pretty standard vanilla cookies. I’m not sure how educational they are. My husband ate one bag and says he got more than three Abraham Lincolns. I got all different presidents (including older/more obscure ones like James K. Polk and Martin van Buren) but unless you already knew their names or numbers (I only got Thomas Jefferson because the bottom said “3rd President”), you wouldn’t be able to identify them. The pictures and words just weren’t very clear.

Westminster Bakers Co. Whole Wheat Snack Crackers (0.8 oz x 2 bags) – Value $1.12

These are only 51% whole wheat; the rest is refined flour. I was able to guess this before looking at the ingredients list because I have eaten almost exclusively whole grain foods (minus subscription box snacks) for years now. Anyway, if you want to incorporate more whole grains into your diet but not go all the way, these would be a good option. I ate them plain by my husband says they work with peanut butter, and I think they would be good in soup, too.

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-fig

Divina Fig Spread (1.5 oz x 2) – Value $2.40

I thought I had heard of this brand before; turns out I have bought their olives from Whole Foods. It is suggested for use with some savory items (like pizza and sandwiches) but I am sticking to sweeter applications. (Pizza has too many calories for me already, without adding fig spread!)

Annie B’s Caramels in Apple Flavor (1 count) – Value $0.50

Annie B’s Caramels in Butter Rum Flavor (1 count) – Value $0.50

I love these. You’ll usually get some small candies in Love with Food and I am so much more excited about these caramels than I am about the hard candies we usually get. Surprisingly, butter rum was my favorite. I’d buy more of these but it is still in the 80s in Georgia and they would melt if I ordered them right now.

love-with-food-deluxe-october-2016-lemonade

Everly Strawberry Lemonade (0.3 oz x 3 packets) – Value $1.67

This is sugar free, which is great. Love with Food has been kind of full of high sugar items lately and I am trying to reduce my sugar consumption. So it is nice to see something like this. I do like the flavor and it is a nice occasional change-up from the iced Celestial Seasonings tea that I usually keep around for when I want non-caffeinated cold drinks.

Awake Energy Granola Bar “Cinnamon Bun” (1.20 oz) – Value $1.10

This was delicious to me, probably because it was really high in sugar. It had a good texture for an energy/granola bar and also contains B vitamins and caffeine (hence the “energy” part).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $14.13 for the October 2016 Love with Food Deluxe Box. That is pretty low considering the cost of the subscription, but it could still be worthwhile for you. And you can use the DELUXE10 coupon to save 50% off your first box. Also, the Beanitos coupon this month is worth over $3 since it is good for a full size product at no cost to you (except tax) so that adds value. And don’t forget to review the snacks in your box for points. I was able to redeem $60 worth of points recently and Love with Food is pretty generous with the points.

Coming from a value perspective, I think you have to consider this one in terms of some of the extras you get with the subscription in addition to the items from the box. I did like the variety this month; many of the brands and items were new to me.

Just received this yesterday – first box. We are in Australia, so didn’t get any of the coupons, which makes sense because we probably wouldn’t be able to use them! I’ve only tried a couple of things so far: the caramels were delicious and the Walkers Shortbread is a long-time family favourite. The box made it all the way to us with just one small dent in the corner, no damage to the products.
Apart from the shortbread, all the products are new to us, so it is a bit of fun discovering something different.
While we can’t redeem any points at this stage, before I subscribed I asked if they were going to make the shop items available for international shipping and was assured that it will be happening soon – not sure how long “soon” will be!

This was my favourite box so far from LWF. Being Canadian it comes out to about $25/month and that was with the promotional $3.99 and 15% off an annual subscription. Even with the price difference it’s still one of my favourites and I always like trying new snacks. They are perfect for work=) I have a lot of points to redeem, but unfortunately the system isn’t set up for international redemptions.
