Each box comes with an info card that details this month's selection.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-cleanser

Milky Dress Anti-Trouble Foam Cleanser - Value $16.98

This foaming cleanser is designed to lightly exfoliate, clean your pores, and prevent blackheads and other "pore troubles" (like pimples). It has a soft soapy scent and produces a nice, thick lather. It's not drying. It cleans off my day makeup pretty well, too. However, I'm not a fan of the fragrance, so I will likely pass this on to someone else.

Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack in Volcanic Cluster - Value $2.50

This is a portable-sized wash-off face mask made of Jeju volcanic scoria, which can absorb excess sebum and purify pores. The container holds enough for 2 to 3 uses.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-clay-mask-closeup

Unlike other clay masks, this one doesn't have much of a scent. It washes off easily and makes my face feel velvety soft afterward. I also love the handy resealable cap that comes with the container.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-toner

Secret Key Black Out Pore Clean Toner - Value $10

This toner contains white clay to absorb sebum, charcoal to suck out impurities, fermented vegetable extracts to tighten pores, and, and witch hazel to combat acne. It has a soft and powdery floral fragrance. It is lightly hydrating and keeps my skin from feeling tight, which happens with some types of cleanser. I have not noticed any difference in my skin compared to other toners, but it gets the job done and will last me a long time.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-belif-essence

Belif Classic Essence Increment 10ml - Value $9.20

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Belif featured in a subscription box other than Play! by Sephora. This is an essence made with oat seed, catnip, and apothecary herbs to improve skin tone and texture. It can also restore the skin's moisture barrier and hydrate for up to 24 hours. If you like the scent of Belif's True Cream Aqua Bomb then you will enjoy this too-- it's a light citrus fragrance that fades quickly. The essence feels lightweight but delivers plenty of hydration, which is the perfect combination for my oily skin.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-masks

Dewytree Aqua Refreshing Black Mask - Value $2.99

This is a 3-step mask set that includes a cleansing foam, activator ampoule, and sheet mask. Foam cleanser created a thick lather and made my skin feel squeaky clean without any dryness. The ampoule was a scentless, goopy gel that did not fully absorb into my skin. The sheet mask essence had the same gel-like consistency as the ampoule. My face felt very hydrated and plump after using the sheet mask. I also noticed a temporary decrease in redness. However, I didn't like how the ampoule and essence never fully absorbed into my skin.

Dr. Young Refreshing Spring Showers Mask (Damyang Bamboo) - Value $2.59

Dr. Young is a new cosmetic brand for me. This sheet mask contains aloe and bamboo sap, plus it helps to refresh, clarify, and brighten dull skin. I liked the refreshing watery essence. Unfortunately, it smelled strong of rubbing alcohol even though alcohol was only 5th on the ingredient list. Nevertheless, it deeply hydrated my face without too much tackiness afterward, so I would use it again.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-eyeliner

Tosowoong Makeon Waterproof Gel Pencil Liner in Cat's Eye Wild Black - Value $7.90

This is a matte black eyeliner that's touted as long-lasting and waterproof. The formula is fairly pigmented and does not irritate my eyes. Some of it does transfer to my upper lid and lower lashline by midday. Overall, it's not as long lasting as other formulas I have tried, but it still is better than the average eyeliner.

Heimish Dailism Lip Palette - Value $1.77

This is a sample-sized palette of Heimish lipsticks in five creamy, wearable shades. They have sheer pigmentation that can be built up to medium opacity.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-lip-palette-closeup

All of them feel slick and hydrating on my lips. MRCR01 and RGPK04 are my favorite shades. MRCR01 is a pinkish coral and RGPK04 is a rosy pink. This is such a fun way to try new lipsticks, I think more brands should make sample palettes like this!

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Magic Wand for Lip & Eye Makeup Remover - Value $8

This is a convenient tool that encapsulates makeup remover liquid inside the plastic part of a cotton swab. There are 20 swabs total. very useful for fixing any makeup mistakes on the go. The swabs remove mascara and eyeliner well, especially in hard to reach places.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-makeup-swabs-closeup

You can get the same result by dipping your own cotton swabs in makeup remover, but guess what: these are pre-packaged in a cute box with illustrated dinosaurs on the cover. So these are better. Plus, when I use up all the cotton swabs, I can fill the box with my own DIY makeup remover-soaked cotton swabs! Genius.

jini-beauty-september-october-2016-samples

Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off sample

Skinfood Watery Berry Emulsion sample

These are complimentary sample packets, both from the lovely brand Skinfood. They are not listed on the info card so I don't know if all subscribers receive the same samples.

Verdict: This is a fantastic first impression of Jini Beauty's revamped subscription service. The total retail value is $63.44, which is about 1.5 times the cost of the box. This is consistent with the value it had back when it was a monthly subscription. Not including sample packets, I received 9 items, four of which were full size and the rest single-use or deluxe size. They market the box as having 6-8 items regularly, so this month is likely more packed than usual to start their revamp with a bang. Additionally, I love the brands that they featured. Belif and Too Cool For School are rarely featured in subscription boxes so I was beyond thrilled to see them here. Also, the variety of products is thoughtful and impressive-- I basically received a whole skincare routine in one box! If Jini Beauty can continue this trend, I can see them becoming my top K-beauty subscription.

Hi Nancy, we’re happy to see that you’re enjoying the revamped subscription! We value your opinion as both a subscriber and reviewer for this site.

To add to the helpful info already in your post: (1) Yes, the sample packets can be different for each subscriber and thus excluded from the card. No guarantees but we do try to also match the sample packets to the subscriber’s skin type. (2) We market the box as having 6-8 products – plus 2 sheet masks, for a total of 8-10 items – to account for boxes where we might have curated something from a pricier brand. So for example, you may receive 8 items total for a box with a full size product from certain brands, and we love that the new bimonthly structure gives us the flexibility to do this!

This box looked pretty good to me! The only thing was the price, it’s a bit to high for me

I’d Love to see what is in one of their Dry/Mature boxes….anyone out there gotten one?

I love the swab make-up remover! But I think you’d better not store your diy swabs in the box. The cleansing oil in the plastic tubes are sealed and seperated from the cotton, which keeps them fresh and clean. If you diy your own make-up remover swabs, you have to use them immediately. Storing diy swabs in the box without vacuum and sterile environment would oxidize the make-up remover, and settle a lot of bacteria — both of which are harmful to your skin.

Hmm, true… that’s a good point! Thanks for commenting Ginger 🙂

This definitely looks like a great box! At first I was thinking this was comparable to Pink Seoul, but after seeing the brands included (yay, Sephora brands!) and variety/types of products, I think they differentiated themselves pretty well from any other K-Beauty box out there.
