This month the destination was Texas! The back of the info card lists the products I received, along with additional information about each company.

Moon Rivers Naturals - Lavender Soap Bar - Value $7.00

This soap bar smells exactly like lavender and has little lavender flowers sprinkled on the top of the bar. Since I don't use lavender bath products, I gave this to my sister to try out for me. She really liked it and said that it was very moisturizing. The size of the bar is definitely going to last for a while too!

Z & Co. - The Fragrance Market - Pumpkin Spice Latte Candle - Value $25.00

This candle is quite big and heavy. It is a soy candle and smells like a pumpkin spice latte. I think this is a perfect item to throw into a box for Fall. These candles are "non-toxic, recyclable, and derived from completely renewable resources. We start with a natural vegetable wax as our base and blend in our fragrances (essential oils and phthalate-free perfumes)." This would be a great item to gift or just to burn all autumn long!

EPIC Artisanal Texas BBQ Pork Rinds - Value $4.00

These pork skins are made from a company that has committed to using more of the whole animal after butchering. I appreciate the dedication to less waste. These particular pork rinds are made with a BBQ seasoning and come from hogs that are raised without antibiotics. Since I am a vegetarian, I passed these to a friend to try for me. This friend absolutely adores pork skins and thought these were fabulous.

Bearded Brothers Mega Maca Chocolate Energy Bar - Value $2.99

This energy bar is vegan, raw, natural, non-gmo, and soy & gluten free. It is made with Mexican cocoa, raw cacao nibs, and maca powder. I was hoping that the texture of this bar would be different from most energy bars but it's very similar. I need some new go-to snacks because of some health issues and these would be perfect if I could tolerate the texture: the flavor is great and they're packed full of nutritious ingredients. If you don't mind the texture of energy/protein bars, you should definitely give these a try!

Verdict: I was a little disappointed with this month's Hammock Pack. I just felt like it was missing an item or could have benefitted from something else thrown in. For me, two of the items were immediate misses: the lavender soap and the pork rinds. The candle was great, but if you're not a candle person or you don't enjoy the scent, that was the highest value of the box. So while the value of this month's box is higher than last month at $38.99, it still would have been nice to have a 5th item or even another high dollar item in case the candle wasn't your cup of tea!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Yes, I was disappointed in this month as well. And I’d decided to get the deluxe box for the first time ever. I got everything in the regular box and just one additional item (a scarf) that wasn’t even listed on the info card. I even emailed the company thinking I’d been sent the regular box by mistake instead of the deluxe, but unfortunately that was not so. While the scarf is cute, it’s not something I would have paid $28 for (which is the price difference between the 2 boxes). I’ve been looking for ways to cut my sub box budget so this was a deciding factor for me. I’ve officially broken up with this sub.

I live in Texas. That box is a generic “artisanal” box. Just because something is made in Texas doesn’t mean it’s about Texas. Pork rinds? How about some “artisanal” salsa?

Hmmmm……that does seem to be a lacking box.
