I was so excited when I found out about this box. I've been looking for hair boxes forever, and for a while they just didn't exist!  A few of them are cropping up now, but this one looked awesome because it wasn't just product - it had accessories!

This box ships bi-monthly. This is the September box, and this month the theme is Modern Luxuries. Amber says that this month is all about getting "everything you need for to accomplish those sleek and sophisticated hairstyles you have been dying to try."

Hello Notecard - $1.00?

The first item isn't a hair accessory but a very cute notecard. I always enjoy getting notecards - I love to write to my friends, nieces, and nephews. This card is totally my style and I love it!

Tortoise Shell Bun Cover - $16.00

This bun cover was only included in the deluxe boxes this month. I really like the look of this bun cover, but there is absolutely no way it would cover my bun. My bun is way too voluminous, due to the length of my hair. I think I could use this with an elegant, low ponytail, with the ends curled!

Pinch Clip - $14.00

This clip is massive; it covered the whole back of my head basically! I used this to clip some pieces from the front of my hair to the back with my curled chignon type hair style.

eternally-in-amber-september-2016-8

Here's the clip in action - it is super strong and held my hair all night. (Ignore the bag of potting soil in the background...I tried to have an herb garden this year, and failed miserably.)

eternally-in-amber-september-2016-9

I really liked how this clip added a bit of interest to my hairstyle and was very functional at the same time.

Crystal Bobby Pin Set - $18.00

These are very pretty bobby pins. They hold quite well and don't get stuck in the hair. They aren't exactly my style, so these are getting stashed away for Christmas!

Verdict: This box from Eternally in Amber has a value of about $49.00. That is an excellent value for such a $25 box. Everything is always high quality and hair accessories like these are a bit more difficult to find in the store, so I appreciate the unique look of each piece, as well as the functionality!

Have you tried the box from Eternally in Amber yet?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Ugggg… so frustrated by this box, definite turn off to MSA…total downer. I canceled my account back in september and asked for a refund on on novembers box bc her policy says she does refunds if requested BEFORE product ships. Welp, just got november shipping notice.

What really ticks me is that these were pitched as “quality” accessories but my bonus headband broke out of the box, day 1 AND 2 weeks later one of the bobby pins came un-glued. The plastic just popped off rhe metal frame. I just tossed it rather than tring to fix it bc my thin hair would get caught and tear between it anyway. Smh. Sticking to my tried and true boxes, dropping the ones im bored with already, and not risking anything new unless i see at last 200 good comments per post. Theres a reason nobody follows this box ? lesson learned

What a bummer! I’ve not had contact with customer service, but that sounds terrible! I’m sorry you all had negative experiences. I just counted the two bobby pins as one each, which made 4 items in the box. I can see why it would be upsetting though, since they are packaged together and are the same pattern.

I got an 8 pack of that notecard from either Michael’s or Target for a dollar.

She said “I just sent those cards out of the kindness of my heart and you box still has 4 priducts” (though only 3 are listed, because technically the pins can only be bouget as a single item for $18, not $9 each…do…I have to disagree). Anyway, that was probably the meanest email I have recieved. Who sends nasty emails anyway???

Honestly, a simple “Im sorry that the 2 Bobby pins are packaged together, they were intended to be 2 separate items. I assure you the hair accessories are great quality and you will enjoy them. Again, I’m sorry for the trouble we had in packaging your box this month”

I hope she can come here and read this before upsetting more people.

Oh boy, so glad I read these comments. The response from the owner who is sending out the boxes is reminiscent of Harper Noel from Relish box. Rude, rude, rude!!! Who knows it could be the same person. She used a lot of different names for quite a few business that went under. I’m staying away

I had a bad experience over the weekend with her also. I received an email to review my product and realized I had never received anything. My bank statements showed 2 boxes paid for so I emailed and asked about it. I later noticed one box had been shipped but was stuck in LA. She replied “It sucks that I received a negative review from you when I did what I was suppose to do on my end.” The email seemed unprofessional and immature.
I wouldn’t have even noticed it was late if I hadn’t received an email to review it. I have my doubts if I will ever get the second box. 3 products doesn’t seem “deluxe” to me.

I was upset about only receiving 3 items instead of the 4-6 promissed, since the post card isn’t a hair accessory. I emailed her and got a super rude responce saying basically “too bad suck it up” and “i didnt take ur money, the company that sells these did” it’s cratejoy, not me”and a super rude “read the website”. Cheap copout for horible customer service. She turned me off so much i wont even shop at urban outfitters until they stop selling her stuff. Its nice, but i can shop AND be treated nicely from other sellers as I’m sure anybody should deals with her will find (cough UO) And the worst part is that this box auto renewed for NOVEMBER before I even received my 1st September box. Has anYonex dealt with cratejoy directly? Idk if I should go to them or if its time to file a claim with my credit card company. (Since HER website says they will refund any item prior to shipment, yet she refuses to do this claiming it’s out of HER hands) If she’s unable to provide customer service, she should change the contact to someone who can. Oh, also, she had the guts to send out an email asking us how we liked out box and that she’d love to hear from us and loves feedback ?????

@Linda @Sandy

OMG, are you serious? I have been watching this sub as I loved the idea of box of hair goodies. Was just about to sign up after reading Bekki’s review but after seeing your examples of the CS….never gonna happen.

I won’t give a dime to this company, nor UO, as long as they have a relationship with her.
Nope.

@linda, This is also my one of two issues with this box – that some boxes are on the light side (like this one). I guess you could count each of the bobby pins as one accessory, in which case you will have 4. Never has there been 4 to 6 items. There was also a past box where one of the accessories was an ’emergency kit’ – a bag with a couple regular bobby pins and basic bands. I guess since the hair items are of high quality, we can overlook the number of items? My other issue is, some of the accessories slide out of my hair and don’t stay put at all. My credit card on file with them was retired and I’m seriously debating whether I want to update it. Knowing now how their customer service sucks? I have a decision to make …
