degusta-box-october-2016-recipe

DegustaBox includes a full breakdown of the box value wise, along with a little bit about each product. This month, they also included a little brochure from Barilla and a recipe to use with the pasta and sauce.

degusta-box-october-2016-barilla

Barilla Marinara Sauce - Value $2.08

Marinara is one of my favorite pasta sauces but I rarely purchase it because it's so simple to make. Barilla has consistently made very delicious sauces and pasta and this one is no different. I really like that it is all natural, and it is made with very simple ingredients.

Barilla ProteinPLUS Pasta - Penne - Value $2.18

This pasta is made from all-natural, vegetarian ingredients. It also has a whopping 17 grams of protein in each serving. It is soy-free but has legume flours that add the protein. I've recently found out that I have a legume intolerance and I'm avoiding them like the plague so I don't get sick. I asked a friend to try this though and they did really like it. They did say that it was better when cooked al dente.

degusta-box-october-2016-bagel-chips

Hometown Bagel Chips - Garlic - Listed Value $1.99

I love bagels...they're my favorite breakfast to eat when I want to treat myself. I also love crispy, salty snacks. These were the perfect mid-afternoon salty snack. Perfectly seasoned and crispy!

Hometown Bagel Chips - Cinnamon - Listed Value $1.99

These bagel chips were also great. I think they would go well with a cheesecake dip or other sweet dip.

degusta-box-october-2016-energems-numi

Energems - Value $7.66

These little dark chocolate energy drops are low in calorie but high in energy and nutrients. They have caffeine, vitamins B and D, Niacin, Folate, and a few other things thrown in to give you a jolt of energy. They're a bit chewy but the flavor was great!

Numi Tea Sampler - Value $3.99

This tea sampler comes with one bag each of Aged Earl Grey™, Rooibos Chai, Breakfast Blend, Gunpowder Green, Jasmine Green, Orange Spice, Moroccan Mint, and Chamomile Lemon. I absolutely love tea, so I was happy to get this! So far, I've enjoyed the Breakfast Blend, the Jasmine Green, and the Rooibos Chai and all have been delicious.

degusta-box-october-2016-jones-palo

Pumpkin Pie Jones Soda - Value $2.00

Jones Soda makes fabulous, high-quality soda. If you enjoy cream soda - their cream soda is the best I have had! This Pumpkin Pie Soda has come out around this time for the past few years, along with some other weird flavors, but this was my first time to try it. I actually liked it more than I thought I would - it was still a bit weird to be drinking a pumpkin flavored soda but the flavor was good!

Palo White Cheddar Popcorn - Listed Value $0.99

Palo popcorn is popped with coconut oil and made with non-GMO popcorn seeds. The cheddar is real cheddar, they contain no trans fats, preservatives, and they are gluten free. That's pretty impressive! The flavor was great for the white cheddar - perfectly salty and delicious.

Palo Bacon Cheddar Popcorn - Listed Value $0.99

I had a friend try this one and they said that it was quite good too! They preferred this flavor to the white cheddar flavor.

degusta-box-october-2016-lovely-almonds

Lovely Candy - Superfruit Chews - Value $1.67

I've purchased these in the past and loved them. They're a guilt-free substitute for Starburst since they are gluten free, all natural, non-GMO and vegan. There are three flavors: cranberry, raspberry, and blueberry. The bag I received in this box were fresh and flavorful!

Crown Nut Sriracha Almonds - Value $0.99

These almonds are grown, packaged and flavored right here in sunny California. The 1.5 oz bag I received contains 9 grams of protein per pack - that is pretty impressive! I did like the flavor of these as well.

degusta-box-october-2016-wasa-latortilla

Wasa Thins - Sesame and Sea Salt - Value $2.40

These Wasa Thins are pretty good. I think I would prefer the rosemary flavor but overall I really enjoyed these. They seem to be a better alternative to crackers, with their 7 grams of whole grains too!

La Tortilla Factory - Low Carb Tortillas - Listed Value $2.99

These low carb tortillas are also non-GMO and have 3 grams of protein. I practically live off carbs, so it's safe to say that I probably wouldn't purchase these on my own. That said, they do only have 45 calories in them, and they taste pretty good!

Verdict: This Degustabox has a value of $31.92. That's great for a box that costs $19.99! Degustabox always includes a wide variety of items and this month it seemed like they included a few more 'health-conscious' picks, which is nice! I enjoyed most all of the items I received and think the fact that they always include a nice variety is a selling point for the box.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Does anyone know if the first box you get for the $6.99 deal is a separate mixed box, and then you get the same box as everyone else after that? Does everyone get the same box each month? I got my first box and it did not match any reviewed here, but it had some items from each of those boxes and then some more other ones, too.

I ordered this box with a promo that made it $6.99. I would not pay full price for this box. I can get just as much for $20.00 from my local store and it be things I want. I have seen all of this before, nothing new or exciting. I feel a little misled. Oh well.

I subscribed to this box and was charged on October 13, with a message saying my next payment would be November 17. I have not recieved any kind of shipping notice, so last week I logged onto the site, and it told me that my box should arrive between 10/27 and 11/04. I thought, okay, first box is late because I subscribed in the middle of the month. So today I logged in to check (still no email received) and now it says box should arrive between 11/02 and 11/11! So now I don’t know if I’m going to end up with two November boxes, or the October box late, or what. Really looking forward to trying this, but it feels like it will never get here!

(Not sure if my comment will show up, since whenever I go to log-in, it never shows that I’m logged in, even though it congratulates me for logging in. *sigh* There are actually quite a few bugs with this site, but I do love it so I persist…)

I signed up for this box when it was on the Labor Day promotion at $6.99 and what a deal! I hadn’t seen many of these products in stores aside from the Barilla products, Jones soda and Wasa crackers. I LOVED the Lovely super fruit candies – I would also contest the price listed here, as I went searching for them and finally located them at Whole Foods, which had them for a MUCH steeper price. The other snacks were also quite tasty, although the popcorn was fairly gross and seemed stale, although that might have been because it was popped with coconut oil.

I think I’m going to stick with this sub for another month or two and see what else they have available. The holidays are sure to some interesting stuff, I’m hoping!

It’s interesting to hear many people say they have seen all these products at their local stores. I know I haven’t. Quite often companies release new products in certain areas of the country first to see how they do, or because of distribution patterns, etc. Also, my local store is a local chain, not a large national or regional one, so I’m unlikely to see things as quickly as others. Anyway, I think it’s kind of fun to get a random box of goodies, and anything I don’t use goes to the food pantry for someone else.

Same here and also, I don’t think I would have thought to try these items. So even if they are in my store, I might have overlooked them. For me, it’s a consistently good value with lots of new things to try.

Giving this box a try. Thanks for the coupon code.

I’ve seen all of these items at the local store including the Pumpkin Soda. I think it is a decent value with good variety but the tagline: The Products: “…a variety of exciting food products, the items in the box will be a surprise but we can say one thing, you will always find something new and delicious!” should be amended a bit to say perhaps “…variety of grocery products…” and “MAY be a surprise” otherwise it is a nice general box of food items at a reasonable price.

Mine is going to be here tomorrow!! Yum Yum, I cannot wait!!! After school snacks…

I got this as my first box and was completely amazed at the variety and quality of products they included. I think I was more excited to receive this box than I have been for most of my beauty boxes, lol. Well maybe not more than FFF.
If you order any day during the month of Oct your 1st box will be Nov.. Order any day in Nov (even the 1st) and your 1st box is Dec, etc. Just keep that in mind. I ordered on Sept 1st expecting to get the Sept box. CS is so nice and very quick to respond.

I got this last month as my first box, please don’t tell me I’m getting another same exact box this month?

P.S. the pumpkin soda was so gross my daughter and I almost…well you know haha

I know many people like this box. The value is great. Packaged well. Its a bunch of food with no curation. For Oct I was hoping for a seasonal box. Not food items I could find at discount retailer. Most of which I have no desire to use. It would be awesome if they turned this into a quartlery larger box with very specific seasonal food items. A box of taffy for the summer. Pumpkin items for fall. Cranberry items for Winter.

It’s not letting me use the code, says it’s invalid :/ boo I was hoping to get this box, if at all possible, for only $10, that’s quite a good deal for staples I know we will eat.

ETA: never mind it’s working! Thanks! i’m guessing it’ll be november will be the box i’ll get, but this still looks like a great deal

I think the description of the box should change because of the expectation of the new items, not available in stores. But as a general food box, I LOVE this box. I know some don’t think it’s a good deal, but food boxes rarely seem to break even and Degustabox always goes above. My son and I both look forward to trying the new items. He liked the low carb tortillas paired with a recipe I had for slow cooker chicken with salsa. I really liked those Energems and I’ve been trying to find them locally. I didn’t think they were chewy at all though. Mine were like giant M & M’s. Crunchy coating on the outside and almost a little dry on the inside. But yummy and it gave me that midday boost I wanted. We weren’t fans of the bacon cheddar but liked the white cheddar popcorn. My son was excited to try the pumpkin soda and even though it wasn’t for him, it has just overall been really fun trying the new products and finding new favorites for us (hello Cinnamon Jif!).

I was the thinking the same thing about the Energems – not at all chewy, just like giant M&Ms, except with good quality chocolate. I’m hooked on these and was glad to see a full size in this box.

Victoria, you can get them at some Walgreens and some Walmarts, and even my local Randalls (Safeway) has started carrying them. My favorite is the berry chocolate flavor, but so far I’ve only seen that one online.

My favorite find in this box though, has been the Lovely Superfruit Chews. I’m not a big candy eater, but I couldn’t stop eating those, they are so delicious and fruity. Now I have to find them locally. 🙂

Thanks Luisa! I will check our Walgreens. I didn’t see them at our Walmart, and I feel like I was in the right section looking. So fingers crossed our Walgreens has them!

rachael

I thought they were supposed to send products not yet available in stores? I know for a fact both Barilla products are in stores and have been for a few weeks at least. I work at a grocery store and we definitely do not get the new products before other stores do, so I’m surprised that they would give you those to try.
