Cat Claws Club is a bi-monthly subscription box for cats filled with lots of toys, treats, and other surprises. (They just use whatever box will fit the items, so it varies from month to month, but it allows for some unusual item shapes, which can be fun!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Cat Claws Club

The Cost: $33.90 a box ($24.95 subscription price + $8.95 shipping)

The Products: Lots of cat items, mostly toys, including some exclusive and/or new items.

Good to know: Although PayPal checkout shows as an option for this subscription, you can’t actually pay for the subscription with PayPal. I checked out that way the first time and they contacted me, processed a PayPal refund, and I had to resubscribe with a credit card number.

Ships to: US

Included was a brochure with more information about the products. There was also a card asking subscribers to share on social media.

M.A.X. Hanging Scratcher (Ghost) – Value $6.50 (This is a sale price. Cat Claws seems to be having sales on lots of Halloween-themed products right now.)

I have very few doorknobs on the first floor of my house, so I’ve put this in the dining room on the floor, instead. The cats like it a lot (see below). It is pretty messy, though, because a lot of the catnip falls through the corrugated cardboard to the other side.

Here are the kitties investigating the scratcher.

Ghost Yarnimals (2 count) – Value $3.58

Oh, we got one of these in Cat Lady Box this month and it was a HUGE hit with Madison. So I am happy to have more of them. (Note: if you ever hear me complain about repeats in cat subscriptions, just know that most people do NOT receive 8 or 10 of them a month, so my experience may not be typical…)

Imperial Cat Mister Owl Refillable Catnip Toy – Value $4.50

My cats are not super into refillable toys, but they did show more interest in this one than usual. I made sure to fill it with extra catnip and I think that helped.

Ciao Chicken Fillet in Crab Flavored Broth – Value $1.99

We got a different item from this brand in the August box and my cats thought it was amazing. They liked this a lot, too. It is like a piece of chicken with some stinky broth. I cut it into smaller pieces with a knife and let them have at it (I didn’t want Sneaky dragging it under a piece of furniture…).

Get Serious! Extractor (16 fl oz) – Value $12.95

Stain and odor removers are a must in my house. Mr. Kitty has peed in my closet like four times this month. (I put a litter box in there and we’re good now.) There haven’t been any accidents since receiving this box, but I am always on the lookout for even better cleanup options, so this is appreciated.

Here are some pictures I took during the unboxing:

Madison stalks the little ghost toys.

Monkey checks out the contents of the box. Of all my cats, Monkey is most likely to climb all the way into a box to check it out.

Sneaky and Monkey check out the scratcher. I can’t believe Sneaky hasn’t swatted him away yet…

Sneaky checks out the scratcher while Mr. Kitty sniffs her. (Hey, he can’t see all that well.) Also note the catnip all over the floor…

Sneaky takes a brief look up from eating the chicken. Note the little shred hanging out of her mouth.

Sneaky checks out one of the ghosts. She was licking it, too, but I wasn’t quick enough to catch a photo of that.

Mr. Kitty checks out the owl. (And another shot of catnip all over my dining room floor.)

I think this might be the single meanest picture I’ve ever taken of Mr. Kitty. I was preparing the chicken treat and he wanted it SO BADLY. He almost knocked the plate on the floor. He can’t have chicken, though, due to his IBD. (In case you were wondering, every single night at dinner, he paws at the table, begging for food. Even though we don’t cook meat at our house. If he is lucky he will get a shred of cheese or a teeny piece of scrambled egg. I like to encourage him begging at the table because I think it’s cute…)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $29.52 for the October Cat Claws Club. That is a little below the cost of the subscription (including shipping); however, a couple of prices above are sale prices, so MSRP is probably a couple of bucks higher. The items, themselves, were all hits this month, and I thought there was a nice mix of toys, a treat, and a useful household item. I think the little ghosts are adorable and my cats definitely liked the treat. So on balance, I’m happy with this month’s box, though of course, I would like to see a slightly higher value next time.
