Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

They have done away with the traditional information card and instead included this card with some discounts and promos on it. I kind of miss the old cards.

There were also a few coupons for other products/services.

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts (0.5 oz) – Value $0.50

If you receive any food or health-related subscription boxes, I’m sure you’ve seen these before. I like them in oatmeal and in smoothies for a nice shot of protein, fiber, and healthful plant fatty acids.

Bakery on Main Bunches of Crunches in Coconut Cacao (1.1 oz) – Value $0.65

I received a slightly different flavor of these in the regular Bulu Box this month. These include superfoods like cacao as well as whole grains like amaranth and millet but are gluten free and dairy free so they work for some specialized diets. I like almost anything with a vaguely chocolate flavor (which these have), although, like the other flavor, many of the chunks had fallen apart during shipping.

Stur Powder in Lovely Lemonade (0.35 oz) – Value $0.57

Stur Powder in Truly Tropical Punch (0.35 oz) – Value $0.43

I’ve had the liquid Stur product before, but I think I like these packets better. Although they don’t mix quite as well as the liquid form, you don’t have to open them until you’re ready for them, so there are fewer worries about them going bad. These have 15 calories per serving (2 servings per packet), which is not bad, but they do contain 4 grams of sugar per serving. These would be good as water mix-ins for people who are avoiding artificial sweeteners. I personally preferred the tropical punch flavor.

Flyjoy Ancient Grain Energy Bar in Cashew Cookie Dough (1.5 oz) – Value $1.56

These are very chewy. (For what it’s worth, they are gluten free, vegan, kosher, and non-GMO, so they will work for a variety of specialized diets.) I like this better than the salted cherry blondie one I received in the regular Bulu Box this month, probably because the flavor was such that I couldn’t get a single, large piece of fruit in half the bar and none in the other half.

Sencha Green Tea + C (0.18 oz) – Value $1.49

I was familiar with Sencha from Yuzen boxes (which sometimes contain Sencha green tea mints) but this was a new product for me. This is a powder that you can reconstitute into a beverage, but I used the packet in a smoothie instead. You get lots more polyphenol antioxidants from eating green tea than from drinking it, and I normally put matcha in my smoothies anyway, so this was a fun substitution. (I’ll admit, I mostly make smoothies in the morning to have a way to use up all the various powders I get in subscription boxes.)

IceFX Kids’ Vitamins Popping Crystals in Orange (2.5 g) – Value $0.67

I received the same thing in the regular Bulu Box this month, in the same flavor. These have a lot of vitamins and a few minerals, and a popping action (I guess like Pop Rocks but it has been 30+ years since I have had those so I can’t say I have an accurate recollection of what Pop Rocks are like). This would not be my preferred way to take vitamins, but I am in my late 30s and I am clearly not the target audience.

Pjur Med Premium Glide (1.5 mL) – Value $0.37

Pjur Med Sensitive Glide (2 mL) – Value $0.41

Well, sometimes you will get adult-oriented items in this subscription. They are never a majority of the items in the box, but you do receive them from time to time, so just be aware of that. I think it a little odd to receive a product intended for post-menopausal women (if you read the product literature) in the same box with kids’ vitamins (I am not post-menopausal, nor do I have children, so neither of these items were chosen for me based on my profile…but Bulu Box is kind of random sometimes).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $6.65 for the October Bulu Box Weight Loss version. That’s pretty far from the best value I’ve seen from this subscription, but I’ve also learned not to expect a full-sized supplement every month (though you do receive them on occasion). However, I’m OK with the value for several reasons: (1) I paid only $5 for this box with a coupon and (2) you can review the items in the box for points you can redeem on items in the Bulu Box shop.  Since there are items in the shop I would normally buy anyway (Quest Bars and PB2, among others), I do derive some value from the points system, as well.

For what it’s worth, I have no idea how most of these items relate to weight loss.

What did you think of the October Bulu Box Weight Loss version?

I just got an email about a sale and realized I’ve not got this box yet. Odd

I got a full size bag of probiotic chews (they say prenatal, but really, it doesnt matter). I also got a coupon for free foster farms organic (ground) turkey, up to $9.99!!! That alone was worth almost 2 boxes!!! I am happy with my bulu box this month – I even used my points to order a bag of the hemp hearts.

Heathery

This is the same box I got as my regular Bulu box. It’s definitely not weight-loss oriented lol. So weird that you received it! I continue to get this box because I have done really well using my points for good values. So the $5 is worth it to me.

Alice

I had two subscriptions to Bulu box but cancelled last month. Glad I did cause I would’ve been bummed with this samples. I might re subscribe again later next year but not for sure..

Meg

This box is so not worth anything, not even $5. Over half the stuff you can’t even use. Such a waste.
