Bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies and toddlers. Their boxes are very customized – specific to the month of your child’s age. Also, they recently began allowing you to “build your own Bluum,” meaning you can even pick what products you’ll receive out of a very wide selection of items (one of my very favorite parts of this subscription!). However, subscribers can still skip choosing their items in order to still be surprised each month.

Normally I receive a customized box based on my preferences and choices for my son, who was born this past September! However, this month I got a box chosen for me with random items, even though I selected my own items. I don’t know how that happened, but I know enough readers have chimed in saying that’s happened to them, too.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Normally I get a card with my baby’s age on it, but I didn’t get one this month. Maybe this is something they only do up to a year?

Snorg Tees Baby Onesie – Value $16?

This is an odd shirt for my taste, plus it’s too small for my son because he’s well ahead of 12-month clothing even though he’s a year old. It might be a fun thing to put him in around Halloween if it fit. Also, I couldn’t find it for sale online.

KidKusion Door Stop – value: $7.15

This isn’t something I’d pick myself but since I have it, I think I’ll definitely use it. My son has started playing games of opening and closing doors which isn’t so much fun for me. This doorstop will be handy.

Silicone Hashtag Teether – value: $14.99

While this is cute, it seems a little young for my one year old. I don’t think he’ll use it. Also, almost $15 seems like a lot for this.

RePlay Snack Stack – value: $6.99

I have one of these in a different color that I actually use all the time so I’m happy to have an extra. These twist together and I could even actually screw it onto the one I already have to keep them together.

Peek A Boo Moon Board Book – value: $7.99

This is a cute book, and my son loves pointing out the moon in books and real life. He liked reading through this one with me. It’ll be a nice bedtime book, or even for him to “read” in the back of the car.

Here’s a peek inside the book.

Verdict: So, obviously, I don’t have shining things to say this month because I chose my items for September but then received a completely random box. I’ve reached out to customer service and they don’t really know what happened on their end either. I feel like their system must have glitched? I never received an email detailing my items or saying anything I picked was out of stock.

Anyways, so I know I’ll get some use out of a few of the items I sent me, but it’s a disappointing box for my one year old. I’m fortunate to have a couple baby nephews on my husband’s side of the family that I can give the things I won’t use to. The value adds up to $53.44, which isn’t terrible but isn’t great.

What do you think about Bluum? Have you tried their service before?

This is the first ever “box” I’ve done for a month to month thing and I can honestly say I’m NOT impressed.. I filled it out and fit my first box I was excited BUT they gave me a pacifier holder and my daughter doesn’t use it .. alright well I went to sign in and it won’t let me I’ve tried resetting my password MANY TIMES still won’t let me in ! I tried the app but it won’t let me download because it says it isn’t available in US stores .. I can’t get into my account I have no idea what I’m getting no one is here to help.. BY FAR WORST!

I am having the same issue. To top it off they stopped letting me choose what I want in my box and only send 4 gifts now instead of 5. I hate that I paid for it all up front.

Have you gotten your box the last few months? I have been anxious waiting for your review because I have had the WORST experience ever with them!

This company is an absolute joke.
I called to cancel my subscription in July after they sent “Muffin Mist” (yes, for your “muffin” in the box and I didn’t feel like it was appropriate. I said I would finish out my year (because I had paid until December) and then did not want to re-subscribe.

January 2nd I was charge 324.00 dollars. I immediately called the company and left a message. I called/emailed on the 3rd and 4th. I never received any response back but I could see from their website that the “help desk” emails I sent were opened. I called again on the 5th apparently the number was disconnected. I called from a different number other than my cell phone number and the call went through. I kid you not.

The company had “no record” of my call in July. At first they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee and said I had to take the January box and pay for it.

The woman I talked to on the phone was condescending and had “no idea why I couldn’t get through.” “No one else has this problem.”

Do not use this company. It’s a scam.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charges

Worst customer service of any online company I’ve ever encountered. At least I see I’m not the only one.

I still have not received my October box. I emailed them and they said it would be here by the 11th which makes me think they just shipped it today and we are a week into November. They sent me an email with the products to review, and a really nice toy I picked out has been swapped with an ugly wipes holder that I do not need or want. How do I make sure this sub does not auto renew? I purchased for a year but have had nothing but disappointment 5 out of the 6 months I have had it.

I bought this a gift for my sister for 6 months and have had nothing but issues. I get random boxes even after picking out items, they skipped September for her box and they shipped this last box only after I contacted them. It said the shipping label was printed out on the 27th of last month and shipped last night after I called. I picked out all of the items and doubt she’ll get what I picked. I’m so glad to be done with this company.

I totally agree Jessica! I have not received my 1st box that was to be shipped out on October 19th. I tried to call the 800 number and it says “this number is not in service”. I’m awaiting their reply via email. I also purchased it for 1 year. I already know I don’t want to renew it.

Update finally got my October box. They removed a toy that I really wanted to give as a gift and subbed in an ugly wipes case without asking me. I emailed and they said my next box would have an extra item. Then a week later my nov box came, I never got an email or the chance to pick the products since when I picked it was already for December. Guess what, no extra item either. They need to get it together, I can’t see anyone renewing with these issues.

Jenny

I am pretty much fed up with Bluum box. I haven’t even had enough choices to choose from for the last several months. My daughter is 2.5 and almost every single category shows “nothing available for this age group.” The toys section only shows two options for glitter glue and one stupid sticker sheet.

I had the same problem in July with my carefully chosen box arriving with a bunch of random stuff in it. In August, I only chose three items because there weren’t options for more, but expected they would fill in the 4th slot with something random. Nope. Just three. And three things I didn’t even really want.

And then September just went missing altogether.

I had high hopes for this box, but I’m definitely not re-upping my subscription.

I had a 3 month sub to Bluum and I was disappointed every month. You have a one year old and they’re sending you teethers; I have a 5 month old and the only toy choices were these coloring and glitter glue sets appropriate for 2-3 year olds. It’ll dry up before she can use it! I cancelled my subscription.

I got a September box because it was a replacement for the horrible July box I received. I picked out my items early and I went back on to check my items and it was stil making me pick an item on the 15th! Needless to say I didn’t get all the items I picked, only two and cheap replacements. Blum has to be one of the worst boxes ever. I will never again sub to it, I just bought a year of Kub Klub for $24/month.

This exact same thing happened to me. I picked items that seemed reasonable for my 14 month old several weeks ago and now just got an email urging me to choose items for my October box! My original selections are gone and the only items remaining are unacceptable for a 14 month old. This is my first subscription box experience and it has been a complete disaster. My July box was destroyed in transit and my September box had all of the items out of stock. I am so completely disappointed with this service. Cancelled subscription and waiting for it to be over. But even though I signed up in June, I have only received one box and still have 2 boxes of disappointment to experience.

I had a Groupon deal with my sub, so thankfully it wasn’t that much per month. But I still rarely got what I picked. And most of the selections were too old for my 3 month old. The September box I got, has legwarmers, for 0-3 month old, he’s going to be 4 months in 3 days. He can probably still wear them though, but disappointing to get an item that’s already “too small”. The value of my box is only $29 too, not even the $34 that it costs. I only got 1 item I originally picked, and 1 of the replacement items. A pack of wipes (big whoop) and the leg warmers. I was paying $38/month with shipping for Litjoy Crate and liked it a hell of a lot better. I just signed up for Kub Klub and got my first box, I only pay $24/month and my box value was $56!!! Bluum should take notes. I’m sorry Bluum was your first sub box experience, they have horrible customer service. I highly recommend Kub Klub or Litjoy Crate for books, even though shipping is high, it’s only $4 more than Bluum.

Caitlin

After having two items out of stock, my September box being cancelled altogether because they are so behind on shipping and didn’t even think to tell me, and they keep charging me the full price instead of my discounted price…I sent them a nice little email and am going to cancel. The company is a joke. I’ve had nothing but problems since I subscribed.

I picked out four items this month and received te two cheapest. No third or fourth item. CS is sending me two surlrise items, but I’m not optimistic since my last surprise item from them was awful and well below the cost of the item I picked.

This box looks like random stuff they just needed to get rid of and they just “forgot” that your kid was too old for most of the items. What is with that weird shirt? A hashtag teether for $15? Are they serious? I miss the other options for kid boxes as Bluum is an obvious fail at this point.

Babyguybox uses the same warehouse/ship as bluum now. It looks like you’ve got a few leftovers from the previous baby guy boxes. I know for sure the hashtag teether was in one and I ‘think’ the onesie was as well.

AJ – I actually just reviewed my first Baby Guy Box (it’ll be posted soon) and yeah I got the same onesie in it! =\
