September's theme is K-Beauty Must-Haves. Usually, Beauteque's themes are irrelevant to their curation so I wouldn't give it too much thought.

This month's makeup bag has a very bold print. I'm not a fan of animal prints but I love the fun texture. I also like that the bag stands upright.

It is very roomy.

beauteque-bb-september-2016-eye-patch

Esfolio Black Caviar Eye Patch - Value $28

Beauteque first introduced me to the brand Esfolio back in July. These eye patches contain caviar and pearl powder to brighten and tighten the sensitive skin around the eyes.

The jar holds 60 eye patches for a total of 30 uses. Each patch looks like a comma and smells like generic face mask essence. My under eye area felt cool and hydrated after use, and it did reduce puffiness by a little.

Annie's Way Jelly Mask in Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid - Value $3.99

Annie's Way Jelly Mask in Honey - Value $3.99

Subscribers receive two of seven jelly mask options. I got Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid for brightening and moisturizing effects, as well as Honey for deep hydration. These are wash-off masks with a thick jelly consistency.

Each packet contains enough for at around two uses. The instructions say to apply a generous layer to face, wait until it feels tacky but not completely dry, and scrape the off the mask with fingers or a spatula tool. I liked the mask up until that last step when I had to scrape thick jelly off with fingers. It was kind of a hassle. I might be too spoiled by the efficiency of sheet masks. That said, my skin felt plump and hydrated after each use. I can see this as a special occasion mask for when I have extra time to spare.

Dual-Ended Eye Brush - Value $5

This is a short, dual-ended makeup brush. One side has a smudge brush for intense color, while the other side has a tapered full-coverage shadow brush for blending eyeshadow. Both brushes have soft bristles with medium stiffness. I noticed the English on the packaging claims one side is an eyebrow brush. Ultimately I think what you use the brushes for is totally up to you.

beauteque-bb-september-2016-lip-crayon

Yadah Auto Lip Crayon in 04 Rose Coral - Value $6.99

Subscribers receive a random color, and I got the shade Rose Coral. This crayon is a pinkish coral on my skin tone. It reaches full coverage with several swipes, has a comfortable matte finish, and feels moisturizing for the duration of my wear. I don't like the shade I received but this is a nice formula for the price point.

beauteque-bb-september-2016-peeling-gel

Milky Dress Oasis Peeling Gel - Value $18.99

Peeling gels contain ingredients that allow it to pill up as you massage your face. The pilling is a combination of the gel and your dead skill cells. I love using peeling gels for gentle chemical exfoliation. Unfortunately, this peeling gel does not have the best fragrance-- it is too chemical for my tastes.

beauteque-bb-september-2016-mascara

Deoproce Power Curling Mascara - Value $8.99

This is a volumizing mascara that claims to lift, curl, and enhance your natural lashes without clumping or flaking. The formula gives me satisfying volume without clumps or flakes, but it doesn't maintain my curls for very long. The good thing is it does not irritate my contact lenses like some mascaras do, so it's a win.

Verdict: I like that Beauteque sends uncommon K-beauty brands as well as fun Taiwanese brands. Their curation definitely sets them apart from other subscriptions. It is also more skincare-oriented with the one or two beauty products or tools. Not everything was a hit for me but I liked trying out every item from September's Beauteque BB Bag. The estimated retail value is around $76, which exceeds the cost of the box by a wide margin!

I agree…the lip crayon is a horrible shade. Hopefully most of the others are better.

Since I only do eye masks 1x/week, those eye patches are going to last me a VERY long time. I’ve actually enlisted my mom to help me out with using those once I get going on them, and she very happily agreed. 🙂

I’m a little hesitant to apply that gel mask in a thick layer, as recommended, because I’ve used gel masks before, and even a ‘normal’ layer tends to run my face & neck which is so annoying. I’m definitely excited to try them out, but I think I’ll be using them sparingly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this month’s Beauteque bag (as usual). And, I really liked the bag this month. I thought it was so cute.

Hi Luna, I think you won’t have any problems with the jelly masks running. They’re almost as thick as petroleum jelly. Glad you liked the bag too! 🙂
