BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan’s review of this month’s box for large dogs!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Every BarkBox has a theme – this month is ‘Are You Afraid of the Bark?’ – how perfect is that!?

Let’s start with this month’s toys!

barkbox-october-2016-0006

Ryder’s Bewitching Broomstick – Value $8

Our first toy was a plush broomstick – it’s got a squeaker in the handle, also. Surprisingly, Buckles was not into this toy (and it seemed perfect for him!), but fear not, it has found a home with a very happy pup!

Rest in Pieces Tombstone – Value $12

This is one of my favorite toys from BarkBox ever – it made me chuckle!

barkbox-october-2016-0008

It’s plush and squeaky with a ‘Here Lies Squirrel’ headstone! That’s pretty cute.

barkbox-october-2016-0021

Again, it seemed like he’d be into this toy as well – but this is the only split second of him caring about it at all – lots of other pups got some new toys to play with, though!

Beef Bites – Value $9

These littles bites are THE favorite of the month! Buckles has been pretty jealous lately since we’ve been testing out a spicy beef jerky subscription. Luckily, I had these ready to make sure he didn’t feel left out.

barkbox-october-2016-0010

They’re small squares, perfectly bite-size for our small dog.

barkbox-october-2016-0017

He’s a pro at modeling.

barkbox-october-2016-0018

These are the current go-to treat in the house. He loves them, and they’re not too big of a treat – it’s a win-win.

Ghoul Gobblers – Value $6

The second bag of treats features a duck and pumpkin blend.

barkbox-october-2016-0012

They’re shaped like little ducks, too!

barkbox-october-2016-0019

I’d say he was pretty excited about the next taste test.

barkbox-october-2016-0020

Again, another win this month – while he still prefers the first treats, he doesn’t turn these away when he’s offered them.

Doggie Delights Sliced Femur – Value $5

We don’t give these kinds of chews to Buckles because of his stomach – so they’re always gifted to a lucky pup. This month’s rawhide choice feels a little more substantial than their typical pig ear, though.

Verdict: Two soft toys and two perfect treats – it was a really good month of BarkBox. On top of a good product selection, I thought the Halloween design was fun and silly for the toys, good job! The value is good too – this box is a $40 value – they’ve been doing a great job at stay around the same value point for a couple of months now.

What do you think of the October BarkBox? What Halloween toys did your dog get?

  1. Buckles is the cutest. He needs a TV show. What a ham with the tongue out in the treat picture.

  2. We got a cute pumpkin that crinkles and the top comes up and guts including little fabric pumpkin seeds are attached. I cant even explain how cute it is!!!!

  3. Those are two of the cutest squeaky toys I have ever seen! I love that Bark Box does fun themes. Buckles is adorable!

  4. Shadow got that same tombstone in the large dog box. He adores it. So many squeakers! He would not put that thing down- and so far he hasn’t destroyed it!

  5. I don’t have a dog…I’m just here for Buckles 🙂

    • Haha I love it! 🙂

  6. Buckles loves treats! So cute!
