Ghostbusters Mug – Value $8.99

What a great Ghostbusters Stay Puft mug! I’ll be drinking from this dishwasher safe, ceramic mug all winter when I have hot chocolate (with lots of marshmallows of course!).

Horror Stickers- Value $0.10?

These are the stickers that the local video store used to put on all the horror VHS movies. A Retro Pop Box exclusive, I don’t have a use for these but the neon green color sure is reminiscent of the 80’s as is a video store in general.

Now and Laters – Value $0.15

I think this may be my first time trying a Now and Later. It reminded me of Laffy Taffy (which I’m not a fan of) and had a fruit punch flavor. They are very firm!

Peanuts Bouncy Ball – Value $0.50?

My kids both love the Peanuts and this Charlie Brown bouncy ball is just perfect. He’s wearing his Halloween mask and holding a candy apple. I’ve never seen a Peanuts bouncy ball; this is our favorite item in the box!

Camp Crystal Lake T-Shirt- Value $15.00?

This short sleeve shirt is a Retro Pop Box exclusive. Camp Crystal Lake is from Friday the 13th and you can see Jason standing off in the distance. I’ve never seen Friday the 13th because horror movies are not my jam, but I do love the colors on this shirt and the retro vibe.

Chucky the Doll Pin – Value $5.00?

This pin is pretty gory! Chucky the doll from the 1988 movie Child’s Play is holding a bloody knife that actually slides up and down to create a stabbing motion. This pin is another Retro Pop Box exclusive and came with the Fun Fact of the month. Chucky’s real name is Charles Lee Ray borrowed from three real-life killers (Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald and James Earl Ray).

Verdict: This month’s box was appropriately horror themed for October, but since horror movies aren’t my thing it was a bit of a flop for me personally. I did love the mug and Peanuts ball though. The value this month was over $29, but I consistently find that the box doesn’t reach the value they claim the box will contain ($45).

What do you think of the Retro Pop Box? Do you love horror movies?

  1. I LOVE that mug!! And its dishwasher safe! We don’t see that very often in subscription boxes!

  2. I was super excited for this box and this one was my first. I love everything in it but the shirt is way too small. I’m a size 18 so I got the biggest size they offer, xxl. It is so small that I had 2 hard time getting it off when I put it on to show my husband how rediculous the sizing is. We were close to cutting it off of me. I emailed and asked if all their shirts have inaccurate sizing so that I can cancel before I end up with a bunch of awesome shirts that I can’t wear.

    • I’ve found the shirts run quite small…

      • I seem to have hit enter before I finished.
Anyway, I emailed them to ask if they were all this small and this was the response:

I am sorry that your shirt didn’t fit. They tend to run tight. The XXL is the largest that we carry in ladies. Some of our subscribers choose the Men’s shirts for that reason. Let me know if you want to switch for future boxes.

Here is a sizing chart for your reference.

So, yeah, Retro Pop Box says that size 18 women are just way too fat to women’s clothes. I wish I could upload pictures here because I put one of my 8 year old’s shirts on top of it and they were the same size, the only difference was that this shirt was about 2 inches longer.

I just got my second box because I didn’t cancel in time and the shirt is the same size.

  3. Is there always a shirt?

    • Yes, always a tshirt. ?

  4. i’ve really liked the last two months so i decided to sign up but i can’t get the code to work. Boo. I guess it’s not meant to be.

  5. What a great shirt. I hope someone puts it up on the swaps!

  6. I love the idea of the box but I don’t see spending $20.00 plus shipping. If it went for $10.00 I would definitely consider…..
