SweatStyle is a new personalized shopping service that helps you discover and purchase high-end active wear.

sweat-style-september-2016-box-open

Here’s how it works: When you sign up, you fill out a very detailed survey about your sizing, style, preferences, routines, lifestyle, and favorite workouts, etc. Then a stylist picks fitness clothes and accessories for you. Once you get your box, you have 5 days to try everything on and return whatever you don’t keep. There’s a $20 “Sweat Fee” that gets put towards any items you keep (like Stitch Fix’s styling fee), and if you keep 3 or more items you get 20% off your total purchase.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Lukka Lux Tulip Sweetheart Tee – Cost to Keep: $55

This tee is a poly/spandex jersey material with a mesh back. I get that it’s designed to have a relaxed, oversized fit, but the proportions are odd. I like it for a cover-up or a loose and airy top, so the functionality is there, but I just don’t think it’s flattering (not even on the model on the brand’s site).

Liquido Patterned Legging Capri in Cloudscape – Cost to Keep: $84

These leggings are really nice… the fabric is very stretchy but still supports well. They are a higher waist, which I love. The print is called “cloudscape,” and I think it’s a cool abstract print that is also pretty flattering since it camouflages a lot. These stretch and move very well and they stay in place while I exercise. Even though they feel high quality, $84 is a little higher than I’d expect these to sell for, but that’s their retail price.

Here’s a look at the mesh back of the shirt. It definitely allows a lot of airflow! Despite the weird fit, this top may be perfect for running.

Terez Burnout Muscle Racer in Fly High – Cost to Keep: $60

I can’t find this still stocked on Terez’s site, but here’s an almost identical one that just has a different print (emojis!).

I love this tank. The print is fantastic and the fit is comfortable and cute – the higher neck balances out the open arm holes and racerback. It’s very lightweight and breathable, as well. I’ve already worn this top many times.

Wear it to Heart Adder Leggings – Cost to keep: $82

(I can’t find this color combination of back and pink online, so I linked to a blue/red colored pair). The print of these leggings is meant to be a modern take on snakeskin. These are sculpting and comfortable. I didn’t actually think these would fit me at first but they stretched to fit just fine. The print/pattern is completely my style but they feel good and aren’t see-through at all.

Here’s a look at the back details of the tank and leggings. While I understand the take on snakeskin, I feel like the fading effect it takes in certain places is a little unflattering. I think the lighter parts, placed where they are, emphasizes parts I don’t want emphasized and creates an unflattering trick of the eye.

I wanted to make sure to show you a close up of the tank because of the details of the print! The bird shapes aren’t actually solid black – they’re made with black threading but are see-through! Fortunately they don’t show through well when you’re wearing it (as you can see in the photos above) but if you were to wear a bright sports bra underneath you could see it.

And here’s a better look at the snakeskin detailing on the back of the leggings. It also has a nice zippered pocket inside the waistband.

Lukka Lux Melee Bra – Cost to Keep: $59

The color and style of this bra are so me. This dark, slightly dusty purple is so pretty and I think the tri-elastic band is really stylish. Sweat Style sized up for me because of my bra size, but since I fit sports bras differently than I fit regular ones, I now know to note that I don’t need them to size up for bras. This one’s a bit big on me, unfortunately.

Verdict: This month’s SweatStyle was alright, but I definitely had the bar set super high for me with how much I adored my first box from them. I love the bird tank and the cloudscape leggings, but I have mixed feelings about the adder legging and black tee, and I wish the bra fit. Fortunately, I was able to email customer service and request a different size in the tee but the bra was not in stock in a smaller size. I appreciate that they’ll work with you on size exchanges if they have them! May’s items felt undeniably high quality and luxe. This month is a little lower price point and a little less my taste. My stylist letter last month also was longer and felt more personal.

I’m definitely excited to see what my future SweatStyle boxes are like!

Yikes!!! The prices are unreal. For that much I want to pick it out myself and it better wash and dry itself once I get it home.

This says high end active wear but I’ve never heard of these brands. Am I just out of the loop?
